Zhao Li Ying up for female ruler role in The Monkey King 3

The net has been burning up with this rumor all day and her studio has yet to speak up.

If true, she’ll reuniting with Aaron Kwok, who plays Monkey King, Feng Shao Shao as Shifu, Him Law as Sha Seng, and Xiao Shen Yang as Pig Demon. It’s the third part of the Monkey King franchise, following The Monkey King in 2014, and The Monkey King 2 in 2016. This part tells the story of Shifu team as they head into the all-female territory known as the Women’s Country. The queen (or should I say female ruler?) falls in love with Tang San Zang and wants to marry him. To deceive the love-stricken lady, our Shifu monk pretends to agree and again escape with Monkey King’s tricks. Unsure how the synopsis of the movie will be like.

Zhao Li Ying confirms movie with Deng Chao, new Eternal Wave Trailer

Ah, so my hunch was correct. Li Ying’s next project is Deng Chao‘s new movie, Ride the Winds, Break the Waves (Cheng Feng Po Lang, 乘风破浪). Though a quickie of the synopsis reveals its an emotional story about the reconciliation between a father and his son directed by Han Han (Easy Life). Do you see a happy smile on my face? Lol. I guess after 5 months of working for Princess Agents, she deserves a break in roles. The other actors include Dong Zi Jian, Li Rong Hao, and some sources say Eddie Freakin Peng!! AHHHHHHHHHHH. A sweet romance with everyone’s favorite movie son is fine with me too. One of my dream pairings!

A few updates of Li Ying after the jump.

Aaron Kwok, Zhao Li Ying, and Zhu Yi Long at Press Conference for Eternal Wave

If someone asks me about Li Ying’s OTP, I would say she’s married to her work. The second she wrapped up her appearance at Qiyi Carnival Night, she immediately flew to attend the pre-show press conference for her movie, Eternal Wave, with Aaron Kwok and Zhu Yi Long in Shanghai. Busy, busy girl. Production officially begins on December 13th and will run for about 100 days. Funny how they estimated the exact days needed. heh. As if!

New Eternal Waves confirms Aaron Kwok and Zhao Li Ying

New Eternal Waves is the remake of the film, The Eternal Wave, released in 1958, about Communist Party undercover agents operating in Shanghai in the 1930s against the Japanese. Aaron Kwok and Zhao Li Ying were confirmed a few months ago and now they have announced the other supporting characters. Our darling girl turned 28 today (10/16) so I decided to post her news on her birthday! I’m excited that she’ll be working with many well-known veterans for this project and hopefully they will give her many pointers and push her acting to a new level.
