I confess to not knowing what The Legend Of Qin is about but I got to listen to Yoga’s song on weibo and loved it. The stills look pretty!
Sigh. I can’t help but be disappointed in Wang Kai’s decision to film such a cliched, “idol” like drama with Qiao En. I don’t expect him to stick with Shanying productions all the time, but this was sort of a surprise because he seems pretty selective about what roles to play. I wonder if he’s just doing it to fulfill a contract requirement of sorts or this character must be one hell of a guy. Still, I hope someday he gets to play the psychopath of his dreams. Lol.
Imperial Doctress! I may just break my “no more historical dramas for a year” streak for this. If only Ruby and Yuan Hong’s drama would jump on the bandwagon too. Seriously. I’m not sure how many more times I can watch the long trailer before I begin to lose interest.

Totally agree with you about the idol drama thing. Oh well maybe Nick took this role to reach a wider audience? (No idea.) But there’s always Nirvana in Fire 2 to look forward to! Latest news says NIF2 starts filming second half of 2016, and Nick’s confirmed his participation. Apparently it’s related to Langyabang, etc. but will feature a totally new story with different characters.
No idea when Chang Ge Xing will air. It’s been years already, wonder why it hasn’t aired yet…

I said this somewhere else, but you really have to watch the animated series of Legend of Qin (aka Qin’s Moon).
Really looking forward to NiF 2. It’s actually a really good idea to sequal NiF the way they’re doing. I saw somewhere that they’re planning on not continuing NiF exactly, since there really isn’t any way to sequel that, but they’re going to make spin-off for the other characters on Lang Ya Bang’s list of experts. Like a story for each one. If they have Hai Yan on board with that (since she’s got to know the most of her own characters) and have a good script and really flesh out the characters, I think it’s an awesome idea. Looking forward to seeing how they’ll put that together.

That just bothers me SO. MUCH. ChiLian and Wei Zhuang work SO well together, and they’ve got so much history and chemistry and angsty love…and then the drama goes down that path…I can’t. But since I’ve been looking forward to the drama so much, I might as well accept that I’ll be suffering through it. Through this ShaoYu/ChiLiang madness. Ugh. ChiLian/WeiZhuang is like one of my fav pairs in the animated series T.T

Sadly, she’s not playing Madame Huo anymore. I was happy with that, guest spin, quick in, quick out. Now she’s playing the legitimate female lead. Apparently the girl who was originally cast in the role ended up having to bow out last minute and ZLY stepped in to help out. Maybe as a favor to the production company is the rumor. So I think she plays opposite to William Chan again.
I’ve seen some pictures of the shooting — she’s in this somewhat odd styling, straight bangs, high ponytail, apparently she plays the eldest daughter of some wealthy family — very “da xiao jie” (not sure literally or figuratively). The clothing is apparently pretty high quality, but I continue to dislike her taking a “supporting” lead role in an idol series!
well, not a fan of remembering li chuan, but finally… wow.. after years… how’s the production in China… they filmed the drama like years ago and then just get aired some years ago.. i remember that Best Time was also like this..

I think they’re talking about 命运交响曲 / Ming Yun Jiao Xiang Qu aka Symphony of Fate or Destiny’s Concerto. I skimmed and skipped through the series. I rather liked Yang Mi and FSF’s romance, but alas, FSF only shows up for a short while and things go haywire. It’s very…classical modern day, aka crazy, secret-riddled family with a lot of fighting over guys in underhanded ways. Plus I hated the sister and the other male lead’s character (the one after *SPOILER* FSF died)…the dude looks like a less-cute version of JJ Lin.

AHHHH! Legend of Qin! 7 days is still too long T.T @chasingpolaris! The animated series is AWESOME! A lot of people say season 5 (which is braodcasting every friday now) is getting too draggy, but personally I’m ok with that. They’re introducing a lot of historically important people and are setting up for a really big, messy (in a good way, afterall, historically this is an uprising of people from like 5 different extinct countries) plot, so inevitably there has to be a lot of set-up going on and character/plot intros.
It’s just too good for words. The animated series is amazing. Plus you can see how awesome the graphics have improved from season 1 to season 4/5. It’s like Chinese harry potter for me. Haha. I only hope the drama lives-up to it. It doesn’t have to be exactly the same, but the feels have to be there.
Hey kap, is 老九门 written by Uncle Three, the one about the older generation from Dao Mu Bi Ji? Speaking of which, I’ve been loving the audiobooks, but I still haven’t even finished book 2 yet. I’m reluctant to continue if only because I know the ending for Wu Xie and ZQL, and I don’t want to break my heart T.T

Wu Lao Gou (literally translates to Old Dog), Wu Xie’s grandpa is supposed to be (according to Huo Xian Gu) just like Wu Xie. Lol. From the fanart, looks like Kylin’s ancestor (or maybe even Kylin himself, I haven’t finished the books, so I’m not completely sure how the never-changing appearance, long life thing goes) is just as badass.

Yes, I believe it is Juli. An extension/side stories of the original gang of The Lost Tomb. At the booting ceremony, they confirmed her role as William’s wife, so she has limited scenes since the drama focuses on the men more. Which doesn’t make sense to me, why hired her to be a vase flower? I’m upset.
Right?! Why couldn’t they hire her for Madame Huo?! A perfectly well developed, serviceable role with meaty enough characterization, a main character no less, and you stick her with the role of a behind-the-scenes wife?! Like wtf. If there were no other main female character, I might understand and assume the crew didn’t want to create an original character…but Madame Huo exists…one of the original nine, and they go and do this. So so so disappointing. Now I’m just hoping it wasn’t the crew’s idiotic decision and it was just LiYing’s scheduling conflict or something.
Oops — should have read further down the comments! As I noted above, I hear it was because the original actress had to pull out and the production company was in a bind.

Don’t know much about K-ent but seeing people’s comments on that seemingly mediocre actor being paired with Ady makes me even more disappointed! She deserves a better leading man (or maybe this is just me who misses seeing her with Vanness hihi)

Wow, it seems like years ago when I first saw the trailers for Remembering Lichuan so when I first saw the title in your post I was like wait, this sounds familiar…haha. It looks like a very angsty and melodramatic drama and if it weren’t for Godfrey, that gorgeous being with a million dollar face, I would never want to put myself through that lol. Although I do have to say that he does seem to struggle a bit with the more emotional parts of the drama in the trailer. He seems to not be able to give in as much as he could. But that’s just me.
I’m still trying to repress my disappointment at Wang Kai’s choice of drama with Qiao En but I will still watch it and hope I’ll like him in it. Definitely excited to see him in NiF2, mostly because he looks sensational in the clothes from that period. He’s pretty skinny but has a great body structure so I think that may be a big reason why haha.
Cannot wait to see Imperial Doctress! The stills that I saw from the drama are breath taking as well as the clothes. I think Shi Shi does better with more serious roles than ones like Jin Yu in Sound of the Desert. She seems to have backed away from the more high profile dramas. Not that I mind, whatever she likes is fine. Hope she and Nick Wu are still doing well ^^

Yeah, he's not that great of an actor but his modeling charisma/style looks great onscreen (I saw the trailer for this period drama he's in and his character walks in costume like he's strutting on catwalk LOL). And he's cute in variety shows which makes him very likeable 🙂
I agree with you about Wang Kai – it’s almost like he’s regressing by taking on an idol drama after the serious dramas he’s been in. But then again it’s obvious why he took this role because while his previous roles (All Quiet in Peking, Nirvana in Fire, Disguiser, etc.) are highly praised, they are all supporting roles. Now that he’s finally gotten the limelight, he’s going to try to establish himself as a leading man (like in this drama with Chen Qiao En) instead always just being the memorable supporting cast…
True, so true. It’s one of those thing where he has to take the leading-man opportunity while he’s such a hot topic. No doubt he’ll continue to act amazingly and there’s be another maybe better lead role, but the truth of reality is, if he continues to be the memorable supporting cast, dramas will just keep offering scripts where he’s just the memorable supporting cast. Kind of like Yang Rong with villainess roles. She and Xie Na made a joke about that on Happy Camp where she’s like, a few years ago, I said I wanted to be the good lead girl, but now it seems I’m heading deeper and deeper into villain territory. It’s taken so long and so much effort for her to get the lead role in Flying Daggers. It’s like Wang Kai said in an interview, after his stint as the flamboyant gay in Ugly Girl (or something) a while ago, people kept coming after him with scripts for flamboyant dudes cuz he was so good in it they thought that was his specialty.
People like Jin Dong get to pick only awesome characters and choose between supporting and lead because he’s already established and people know he just likes to be picky and choose. Since he’s already got his own well-known lead roles, he gets to choose supporting roles and still have people offer him lead roles.
But for Wang Kai, I guess he feels like he needs to take this opportunity while its there, whether or not its a shallower idol role. I can understand that, since we understand him (not personally, obviously) from interviews that he has his goals set on becoming a good actor with a variety of developed roles and characters regardless of whether or not he picks up one or two idol roles along the way. And who knows, this could end up being unexpectedly spectacular (the awesomeness of WuXin FaShi still blindsides me sometimes).

Yeah I saw some of Wang Kai’s interviews and his acting career hasn’t been all that smooth sailing, what with being offered only the clownish roles or roles that are half invisible… He’s made it big with Nirvana in Fire and Disguiser being such big hits and so he’s gotten all this massive attention now, which is why he needs to take leading man roles if he wants to keep the popularity going. He’s like the 2015 version of Li Yifeng (in terms of rising popularity LOL), who struck jackpot with Ancient Sword and has been taking on heaps of leading man roles ever since to keep up the popularity.
Jin Dong is already an established actor with an awesome rep so he can choose and pick whatever he wants LOL.
Ah whatever I just need to see the Nirvana in Fire cast reunite again and make Nirvana 2 🙂

yep – Han Ming is a cool male lead character – smart, devoted and not drama hungry. One of the best in c-drama for me so far! The show itself has its melodramatic moments but so far, still veering on credibility and all the characters are relatable. The female lead is also not the martyr, whiny type and although spunky , not shrill and overly annoying 🙂
i watched the first eight episodes and… quit watching it. hehe… i already deleted it from my external memory… i found that drama so makjang… hehe.. but im glad ron’s doing well in mainlad.. i used to watch his HK dramas hehe
Kappy, I read that Zhang Danfeng will be the male lead in a modern drama titled “Mr. Right”! Not sure what’s it all about, but he’ll be starring alongside Ji Chang Wook (I guess this is a Korean actor?). It may not be my cup of tea, but if Andy’s leading, I’d check it out!
I also read that Wang Kai will be in the Bread Tree drama with Tang Yan. Can anyone tell if it’s a period or a modern drama?

The only Cdrama that Ji Chang Wook is currently filming is My Male God, and Zhang Dan Feng is the second male lead. He wasn’t even at the booting ceremony cause he was filming So Young. I know, ZDF deserves a leading role. 🙁

I’d still probably checking out any upcoming ZDF’s dramas, even if I drop it later LOL. Aside from Home/The Other Shore 1945, none of his previous modern dramas appealed to me (technically Home/TOS is set not in modern time, though still in the 20th century).
I think I’ll try The Legend of Qin when it airs. Trailers look interesting, and there are cast from WuXin that I like (Gina and Sui Yong Liang, and looks like Ian Wang (Lord Gu!) is cameoing there as well).

Wallace Huo is like a guaranteed ratings hit or something – regardless of a drama’s quality, as long as Wallace is the lead, his fanbase alone is enough to keep the ratings going LOL

Kap, I also read that Wallace Chung is going to direct a movie, supposedly produced by Han Han. I like “The Continent”, and this movie is said to be based on a novel by the Left Ear author. Do you have more information on that? It’s been long since I last heard about any Wallace’s project (and I’m looking forward to his movie with Vicki Zhao — when will it be released?), so it quite excites me to read about it.
