It’s been a good last quarter of the year eh? Lots of interesting dramas competing for your attention!
My weekly attempt to get this post out on Friday failed again. Lol
I’m embarrassed to say it took me four days to compile this list. In the past, only 2 days! A galore of Trailers and new stills!
Which drama (s) are you looking forward to?
Xue Ying Ling Zhu aka Snow Eagle Lord aka Lord Xue Ying (雪鹰领主) is adapted from the novel written by I Eat Tomatoes (Wo Chi Xi Hong Shi). Our hero’s name is Xue Ying which means Snow Eagle, and he’s raised in a small city peacefully with his parents and younger brother up until he was eight years old. His dad is a commoner who bought a baron title and his mother was a noble lady who escaped her clan to live with his dad. But when their family is torn apart, our hero must take care of his younger brother while trying to save his parents. He’s then lured into the battle for power.
There’s an animation (donghua) available too! Incomplete novel translation @ Cosmic Translation.
The Dance of the Storm (风暴舞) is an upcoming suspenseful modern drama starring William Chan and Guli Nazha as the main leads. The story follows our orphaned hero who lost his parents (both were top scientists) at age twelve and was sent to orphanage where he meets his best friend played by actor Guo Jia Hao. As the boys grow up, they are recommended by Chen Gang as new recruits to a security agency. There the boys meet and fall in love with our heroine, played by Guli Nazha. During an operation, our hero’s recklessness causes the death of their father figure, Chen Gang, and he puts himself in charge of finding the main culprit, which leads to many secrets and conspiracies with dangerous organizations behind the security agency. Dun, Dun, Dun!
William may not be the best actor, but doing action scenes while looking good and handsome, he gotsa in spades. Lol.
Twelve Legends (十二谭) is a fantasy republican drama adapted from a novel written by Ni Luo (Wu Xin The Monster Killer), following a love story that spans 2 thousand years starring Guli Nazha and Jasper Liu. Our hero is originally a rock with characteristics of a demon and a god. He dons a cold face but has a soft heart, and is described as someone who’s resolute in all situations and is determined to survive. He endures the vicissitudes of life, countless trials of life and death, and is only waiting for one person. That person is of course our beautiful heroine, who is formed after cultivation from a pearl (how’s that for beauty?) She’s a playful person, who loves life and freedom. Unfortunately, she was imprisoned by him for years, and he’s also the reason behind her friend’s death. She resents him, but when the truth is revealed, she’s stunned. The freedom she desperately pursues is just a sinister trap. Thus begins a love story that is humorous and touching, passionate and sweet.
Gosh, this drama looks so pretty! I still have Rattan that I need to watch. T___T
Da Tang Ming Yue or now known as Weaving A Tale of Love (大唐明月 –> 风起霓裳) is an upcoming historical drama based on the novel written by Lan Yun Shu. And I want to add “loosely” because they basically just borrowed the names of some people in history. A lot of things were changed – such as our heroine time-traveling into the past, her career, etc. Xu Wei Zhou plays a character in the Tang dynasty, General Pei Xing Yan, known for his superior fighting skills. Gulinazha plays daughter of the female officer in the royal tailoring department who is forecasted to not do well with needles and thread. When she was five, her mother dies and she wakes up with no memory after an accident. She’s then taken in by her mother’s good friend and groomed to be a royal consort. Her mom’s wish was for her to escape the palace and live a peaceful life, and after a meeting with the great general Pei, she also yearns for a life outside of the walls. But her talent in making clothes attracts good and bad attention, allowing General Pei to jump and rescue her multiple times. They later find out the culprit behind all her misfortunes is done by the same woman who took her in.
