Hello everyone! 2020 is coming to an end and this year is one to remember for sure. Aside from the real-world problems, we have another year of dramas to watch and television has become a great stress-reliever for a lot of my folks, especially my mom, who has been marathon-ing all of her favorite shows. I skipped the Cdramas Awards last year because I wasn’t really into it, but decided to do it again this year so we can have a bit of fun to end the year with.
So have fun & please share this post! Would like to see what international fans think about 2020 dramas! Who got your hearts and your votes?
Happy New Year! Stay safe, healthy, and happy. 💓 💓 💓
NOTE 1: Only dramas airing between 12/2019 – 11/30/2020 were included. I feel it would be unfair to include dramas airing in December since some are still airing or without English Subs. December dramas will be included next year instead.
NOTE 2: Over 200 Cdramas aired this year and I tried to include as many as I could. Of course I’m not perfect and there will some missing so if you feel that I missed some crucial dramas, let me know! Keep in mind you might have to scroll down a while to see the word “SUBMIT.”
NOTE 3: I decided to go with “FAVORITE” instead of “BEST” because as I realize down the line, one’s BEST dramas might not be everyone cup of tea. Favorite is harmless and right up my alley.
A huge thanks to Alison for creating the collages for each category! I was losing steam. 😛
Results will be posted in 2 Weeks! 🙂

Was wondering where is Joy of Life and ZRY, then I realised that is in 2019…Time flies so quickly…
If I could, I wanna give all my votes to Tan Song Yun! Amazing actress and so adorable! She made Go Ahead and Under the Power a joy to watch for me <3
Luo Yun Xi please eat more and can't wait for Hao Yi Xing, a huge bloodshed is on the way!
Song Wei Long, really like him, has a lot of potential because he is SO young, but he really needs to improve his acting, can't wait for his drama w Jing Boran!!
An unexpected find for me near the end of 2020 was The Sleepless Princess! Underrated! Zheng Ye Chen and Hu Yi Xuan surprised me in the drama! Chemistry, acting and emotions all there!!
Happy New Year Kappy! Stay safe and healthy!
And thank you Alison!

Wow… didn’t realize so many dramas have aired and I ended up watching some of them lol An improvement from last year drama-watching due to the events this year
For cdramaland, it turns out this year was quite nice for various actors like rising actor Ding Yuxi and Cheng Yi (who finally rose in popularity)
Yay to Tan Song Yun for her wonderful acting and her spotlight was well-deserved with her acting in Go Ahead and Under the Power, love her too peach 😀
Happy New Year Kappy and everyone else! Wishing everyone great health and happiness! Hoping 2021 is better 5x than 2020 😀

Only some of them? Lol. My mom broke her limit this year, she covered over 50+ dramas… Lol…
Agreed with you ladies, Tan Song Yun is a bombshell this year. Solid projects and acting year round from the comments I have read. B)
Happy New Year to you too, ChocolateCosmos!

Happy New Year!
I watched a record breaking 20 dramas this year, although some of them are Japanese haha. Hope 2021 is a better year for everyone and in drama land!

Me too, Polaris! I completed record high number of dramas in 2020, 11 (normally could only finish 3 or 4 dramas a year lol).
Though I declared 2020 as a great drama year for me, I noticed a couple of things thanks to Kappy’s polling:
1. Historical and wuxia dramas were somehow not that great that year. (I’m thankful for Love in Between though, which managed to make me obsessed when it was airing).
2. No standout actresses for me???
Happy new year, all! And hope we will have Better Days (no pun intended) in 2021 and beyond.

I see what you did there Lenje. heheh. 😉
Yes, Love In Between! Need to get on with it. I watch dramas way too slow.
Happy New Year! ^^

I agree, historicals/wuxias were a disappointment. Hope we get some better ones this year!

Lol Kappy your list of to-watch dramas must be super long!
For Jdramas, I enjoyed “Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!”, which is a BL and so good. It was probably one of the most talked about Jdramas online this year.
I also enjoyed Kono Koi Atatamemasuka which focuses on romance and convenience store desserts/sweets. Another one that’s dessert focused (Japanese style desserts) is Watashitachi wa Douka Shi teiru. It’s a rather dark romance but enjoyable. Only 8 episodes so bingeable in a day if you have time.

I don’t think there’s an end to my list. This year, I only finished one drama….Ever Night 1 that I put on hold for 2 years. LOL.
Thanks for the recs! I do love Japanese desserts a lot. hehe =D

Sharreb, because the couple is the longest list, you have to scroll down past the collage to see the options. 🙂

Favorite sick male lead. Hahaha I love it!
Somehow managed to watch at least 1 drama in each category 😱. With all the time staying at home this year there not much else to do.
Happy New Year! Hope 2021 brings us even better dramas.

Wow what a huge list! 🙂
Thanks to everyone for the effort it took to compile it! 🙂
I didn’t realize I watched so many dramas till I went through this list, haha!
Particular favorites:
1. Cross Fire
Amazing performances by Wu Lei and Lu Han!
Especially incredible since this was an ORIGINAL script and the scriptwriters wrote such a great story with beautiful family and friendship dynamics with murder mystery while using gaming/sci fi as the background!
Awesome work by the director for all the great action scenes!
Overall pace was great — too much extra drag for characters in the 2019 story line. They should spend more time on North and Cheng Hao’s characters instead.
2. Hikaru no Go
Being a huge fan of the original manga/anime, I was hesitant about this drama but I was impressed by how they adapted it from Japanese to Chinese context.
Extra points to Hu Xianxu (Shi Guang / Hikaru) for the very impressive acting and great dynamic with other characters (whose actors were all great, really).
Hao Fushen (Yu Liang / Akira) got way too little screen time (Akira had a much more prominent role in the original so it’s shame that the scriptwriters cut him out so much), but he made the best of what he was given and did a great job.
3. Love in Between
Great wuxia series with amazing acting by the cast!
AWESOME soundtrack and cinematography!
Only shame that the ending was so rushed and they skipped over important explanations and just left it to audience imaginations.
4. Three Lives Pillow Book
Dilraba’s Feng Jiu is my favorite female character of the year. Amazing performance by Dilraba and she’s so incredibly beautiful and spirited. Looking forward to her upcoming ancient series with Wu Lei!
