Oops! I’m in Jail: Humorous situations in prison with Tony Yang, Jasper Liu, and Jack Tan

The story sounds so wacky, I decided to share this drama, available on Qiyi, GTV, and Viki.

Synopsis per Qiyi: Taekwondo rising star Yao (played by Jack Tan) is forced to retire due to an injury and falls into gambling. To repay his debts, he is coerced by a criminal organization into working as a prison guard, tasked with taking care of the prison boss, Chihuahua (played by Tony Yang LOL his name). At first, he thought he was the unluckiest of all. But once inside, he realizes that his coworkers are all in an even worse state. These “rookie employees” endure absurd and shocking training every day: getting beaten while controlling riots, being sprayed with filth during body searches, and dealing with inmates attempting suicide. What seems like a prestigious job is actually full of bowing, forced smiles, and a status lower than that of the prisoners themselves. In this suffocating and rigid system, the prison mentor Jiang Yijie (played by Jasper Liu) constantly monitors the “special relationship” between A-Yao and Chihuahua, making each day feel like a life-or-death ordeal. Compared to the inmates, the corporate slaves feel more like prisoners. Yet, amidst the absurdity and cruelty of daily life, A-Yao and his colleagues gradually develop teamwork, friendship, and even love. Together, they struggle to survive the chaos and ultimately discover the true meaning of their work.

Airing today 11/15~

After two years of zero promotion, the new adaptation of Jin Yong’s novel Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils suddenly gets an airing date. I guess we are used to the quick announcement of premieres by now? If you have never watched any of the previous adaptations, the story has a lot of characters and relationships, please check out Wiki! My personal favorite is TVB’s 1997.

Zhang Zi Yi’s drama debut Monarch Industry with Zhou Yi Wei, Tony Yang, and Yuan Hong confirms airdate!

Emperor’s Conquest/Monarch Industry (上阳赋) is adapted from the novel written by Mei Yu Zhe and stars Zhang Zi Yi in her television debut! I know it’s a shocker that she never did a drama in her whole career until three years ago when this was filmed. The production remains so quiet and secretive until now. Then Boom. Airing. Lol. The story follows two intelligent people bound together by a political marriage that slowly morphs into an epic relationship of love, loyalty, and trust in their conquest of the world. Female cast is not to be joked around either – Kara Hui, Angie Chiu!

You can read the translated novel here (still in progress).

Airing 1/9 on youku!
