Wow, what stellar casting, both in the young and older generation of the ensemble! After confirming Zhang Ruo Yun as the male lead a few months back, the production finally releases a bunch of posters for the remaining cast with Li Qin taking the female lead role. Qing Yu Nian or known in English as Joy of Life or Extra life in Qing is a novel written by Mao Ni.

Palace drama Ru Yi’s Royal Love In The Palace (如懿传) is adapted from the novel written by Liu Lian Zi, following the marriage between Qianlong Emperor (Wallace Huo) and Ulanara (Zhou Xun), the Step Empress during the Qing dynasty. I don’t know what to think about this series…. the countless ladies and wives fighting and scheming for one man for many, many cycles of new faces. 90 episodes isn’t appealing either but there is always an audience for this type of dramas so there’s that.
I miss Mr. Sunshine. Don’t you? After making a splash in dramaland with his tv debut performance as Prince Yan Xun in Princess Agents, Shawn Dou has other projects to quench your thirst; all of which have finished filming (he wrapped the last one up last week). While Li Qin got no love in Princess Agents, she’s chased by two men in upcoming period drama, The Wolf (狼殿下). They are Darren Wang Ta Lu and Xiao Zhan. The cast is also made up of some Taiwanese actors entering Mainland market too.
It’s finally ending! I have never been this excited to see a drama end, to put me out of my misery. As Princess Agents broke another dramaland record of surpassing 40 Billion online views during its run, I’m equal parts happy and annoyed. Lol. Happy for the hard work the actors and crew put in but annoyed that now the writer and director would think the secret to a ratings hit is a combination of half-assed story line and inept directing. See, cdramaland needs less of those and more of a step-up in all directions.
