Adapted from the novel written by Ba Yue Chang An, Unrequited Love (暗恋橘生淮南) stars Hu Bing Qing and Hu Yi Tian. The story follows our heroine’s one-sided romance for her childhood friend for fifteen long years. They are childhood playmates and attend the same school for many years. Beginning in high school, their friendship takes a dim turn as she focuses more on her studies. When they meet again in college, she still carries a burning torch for him. Girllllllll! An excursion to Red Canyon Valley rekindles their friendship and sparks begin to fly ~
From what I know, there’s another drama adaptation of the same novel which aired in 2019 with Zhao Shun Ran and Zhu Yan Man Zi. You can stream it on netflix.
Here’s a long compilation of teasers and trailers released at various events this past week such as the iQiYi iJoy and Tencent video conference. Sorry, I can’t physically make 20+ separate posts for each of them. I think I have written about the majority before so it’s nothing new. Just a peek from different online platforms for what’s coming up next for them.
I always get giddy when I can combine dramas into one post with a connection! Here, it is the boys from last year’s hit drama Go Go Squid: Li Xian and Hu Yi Tian, their dramas decide to drop stills on the same day, with vastly different topics.
My first version of this story by Gu Long was the Taiwanese version with Jimmy Lin and Alec Su, followed by the TVB version with Tony Leung and Hugo Ng, then HK version with Dicky Cheung and Nicholas Tse. In all the versions, the mischievous brother (to be played by Chen Zhe Yuan) who was raised up by a group of villains is almost always the reason to continue watching. He’s unconventional, a prankster, and has tricks up his butt-hole. Lol. The newer version seems to favor the other twin more (played by Hu Yi Tian, he’s the more popular actor of the two), who was raised in a female-only palace, by a cold lady conspiring to see the brothers at each other’s throats. Why? Because their father rejected her and eloped with one of her slave girls! And this is her revenge plan.
The drama will air on CCTV, Qiyi, and Netflix, starting 1/16.
This is gonna be trailers galore folks. I’m serious. Both Qiyi and HNTV had their quarterly event the past two days and had been showing off their next batch of dramas to screen! Plus, just a few more dramas for October ~~
Long gone are the days I can focus on one drama per post. xD
