The Birth of An Actor Show: Episode 1 with Zheng Shuang, Ren Jia Lun, Zhai Tian Lin, Yu Shao Qun
The Birth of An Actor is a new show on Zhejiang TV featuring a crop of actors and actresses in acting challenges against a fellow actor each week. The judges are Song Dan Dan, Zhang Zi Yi, and Liu Ye. Actor Zhang Guo Li serves as the MC. Acting is still subjective in my opinion so this show is a platform for fiery discussion among netizens, fans, and non-fans alike. The always hot-topic individual Zheng Shuang is in the first week, pitted against Ren Jia Lun and Song Dan Dan, while she wins against Allen, she loses to the veteran actress, respectively. In the short play, Zheng Shuang plays Zhang Zi Yi’s character in her big screen’s debut The Road Home, directed by Zhang Yi Mou. Other contestants in the same episode are Zhai Tian Lin, Yu Shao Qun, Huang Lu, and Liu Yun.

It’s Tong Hua, tear-jerking goodbyes is a norm. Lol. One moment, there’s no promo, and now we have promos every day. Adapted from her novel, Once Promised (上古情歌), A Life Time Love will join the June ratings competition on June 12th, featuring Huang Xiao Ming, Victoria Song, Peter Sheng Yi Lun, Janice Wu Qian, and Luo Yun Xi.

It’s interesting how little promotion this drama has gotten, it has a pretty cast and a popular author (Tong Hua) behind it. A Life Time Love (上古情歌) is an ancient drama adapted from Tong Hua’s novel, Once Promised (曾许诺), starring Huang Xiao Ming and Victoria Song as leads. All the sleeper dramas are coming out in June. What the KRAP!
Undercover drama with Zhang Jia Yi, Lin Shen, Liu Yi Jun, and Li Qin
Whoa! Badass opening themevideo with solid casting! Upcoming police drama, Undercover (卧底归来) features 38 real crimes exposed by undercover agents against narcotic drugs and drug dealers. It gives me the same vibes as old TVB cop dramas (Detective Investigation Files franchise, anyone?) with the undercover agent (Lin Shen) stealthily getting into the gang run by drug Lord Jiu Ye (Kent Tong) and falling in love with his only daughter (Li Qin), because we love complicated relationships. heh. Zhang Jia Yi plays his handler, our police chief, and Liu Yi Jun plays chief director of the Anti-Narcotics team. It looks exciting and and I’m pumped!
White Deer Plain Drama: Zhang Jia Yi, Qin Hai Lu, Li Qin, Deng Lun
Adapted from Chen Zhong Shi’s novel of the same name, White Deer Plain (白鹿原) was also made into a film in 2012. The drama adaptation stars many heavy weight veterans such as Zhang Jia Yi, Qin Hai Lu, Liu Pei Qi, and along with several youthful faces such as Li Qin, Deng Lun, and Zhai Tian Lin. The novel is considered one of many Chinese literary treasures, diving into the generational wars and clashes of evolving beliefs and values held esteemed in the small village known as White Deer Village, focusing on two big families – the Bai and the Lu.
