The Trust (两不疑) is the drama adaptation of the popular manhua No Doubt In Us aka Liang Bu Yi from author Lu Ye Qian He, You Zhi Jiao Zi. The story sounds absolutely adorable. Our main couple is the King and Queen respectively. She’s from a general’s family, so she likes to fight, ride horses, archery, while our King is weak and likes to read. She marries him but due to family issues and their complete opposite personalities, they never get along and prefer to stay out of each other’s way. However, one day, they fall in a pool together (she pushes him when he gets too close, hehe) and their souls swapped! Now she’s the King who needs to attend the courtly matters and even go to battle, while he finally realizes his harem is not a very nice place, including his own mother, the Empress Dowager. They see things from each other’s shoes, beginning to emphasize and understand, get close and develop feelings.
You can read the English Translated of the webcomics here. There’s also a planned animation too (check trailer).
Here’s a long compilation of teasers and trailers released at various events this past week such as the iQiYi iJoy and Tencent video conference. Sorry, I can’t physically make 20+ separate posts for each of them. I think I have written about the majority before so it’s nothing new. Just a peek from different online platforms for what’s coming up next for them.
Love Is All (师爷请自重) is an ancient romcom based on the novel written by a familiar name in Jiu Xiao Qi (My Mr. Mermaid, Skate Into Love) starring Zhang Ruo Nan (Cry Me a Sad River) and Zhang Hao Wei (Joy Of Life). She is a quirky, wealthy miss who frequently quarrels with the county magistrate, our main guy. Using their brains, the two team up to solve cases. Hmm, that is the shortest baidu synopsis I have seen in a while. The author has written quite a lot of light-hearted comedies which mostly translated well onscreen with positive reception. Hoping this is the same!
Wow, what stellar casting, both in the young and older generation of the ensemble! After confirming Zhang Ruo Yun as the male lead a few months back, the production finally releases a bunch of posters for the remaining cast with Li Qin taking the female lead role. Qing Yu Nian or known in English as Joy of Life or Extra life in Qing is a novel written by Mao Ni.
Another case of remakes making its round across Asia. It’s the remake of Japanese drama Operation Love (プロポーズ大作戦) which aired in 2007 with Nagasawa Masami and Tomohisa Yamashita as leads. The Chinese remake stars EXO’s Lay (The Mystic Nine) and movie actress Chen Dou Ling (The Left Ear). I’ll say that I was worried with the news since neither impressed me with their first big acting project, but now the stills and the first trailer show them being adorably harmless and cute, I feel much better! It’s basically a second-chance at happily-ever-after with the hero being given the opportunity to travel back in time and right his regrets.
If only we all have Julian Cheung as our second-chance guardiam angel. Heh.
