Da Tang Ming Yue or now known as Weaving A Tale of Love (大唐明月 –> 风起霓裳) is an upcoming historical drama based on the novel written by Lan Yun Shu. And I want to add “loosely” because they basically just borrowed the names of some people in history. A lot of things were changed – such as our heroine time-traveling into the past, her career, etc. Xu Wei Zhou plays a character in the Tang dynasty, General Pei Xing Yan, known for his superior fighting skills. Gulinazha plays daughter of the female officer in the royal tailoring department who is forecasted to not do well with needles and thread. When she was five, her mother dies and she wakes up with no memory after an accident. She’s then taken in by her mother’s good friend and groomed to be a royal consort. Her mom’s wish was for her to escape the palace and live a peaceful life, and after a meeting with the great general Pei, she also yearns for a life outside of the walls. But her talent in making clothes attracts good and bad attention, allowing General Pei to jump and rescue her multiple times. They later find out the culprit behind all her misfortunes is done by the same woman who took her in.

City of Streamer (流光之城) is your classic revenge story taking place in Shanghai with our heroine trying to exact revenge on a powerful family by playing tutor to their wild son. Of course, proximity with a beauty is a breeding ground for love and that’s when a grievance from two decades ago comes back to haunt the two lovers. Jing Tian was born to play characters in republican dramas, her porcelain skin and petite face, she shines in the outfits.

Dear Ma Yang Street (亲爱的麻洋街) is gonna be the next big hit among modern cdramas this year? Gotta say, it’s been a lovely year for modern dramas. The trailers are nostalgic, charming, and full of colorful characters. Dear Ma Yang Street follows a group of youths and their families who grew up on the vibrant Mayang street, their ups and downs of youth and adulthood. Our heroine likes troublemaker (Xu Wei Zhou) but the new neighbor (Niu Jun Feng) next door also has a crush on her at first sight. The constant arguments break up the lovebirds and it’s the second lead who stays by her side as she studies in law school, assumes responsibility over her family, and eventually becomes a lawyer. And this is when the other bird returns into the picture. Uh Oh! I have a feeling Niu Jun Feng might be the one breaking hearts here….
