Fantasy drama Yu Gu Yao confirms leads in Xiao Zhan and Ren Min

Yu Gu Yao (玉骨遥) is an upcoming fantasy drama based loosely on the novel Zhu Yan (prequel to the Li Yi Feng’s Mirror drama) written by Cang Yue (Listening Snow Tower). Ren Min plays a kind and headstrong princess of the Chi Clan who escapes an arranged marriage (her name is the name of the novel; looks like we can expect a lot of changes to make this Male Lead-centered drama), and Xiao Zhan plays a cold and aloof royal prince who is sent to the mountains to cultivate (due to the Grand Priest’s premonition of him falling in love with a girl). He is nine years older than her and she becomes his disciple… their destiny and romance tied to the future of Kong Sang Kingdom. At one point, she draws his blood. Dun Dun Dun!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Lol.

Sigh. You guys know me, I don’t do well with Shifu-disciple story.

Dou Luo Continent (Soul Land) with Xiao Zhan and Wu Xuan Yi begins airing today ~

It was rumored, but never confirmed, and here it is. Lol.

Let me copy and paste what I wrote last year: Dou Luo Continent is an adaptation of the Chinese web novel of the same name written by Tang Jia San Shao. Our hero is Tang San, considered a prodigy in the Tang Sect, a sect specializing in poisons and weapons. He commits suicide after entering the forbidden place for inner sect disciples and gaining the knowledge of the Sect. He feels guilty and kills himself, but is reborn in Soul Land (title of the novel), with his memories intact (dun, dun, dun). In the new land, he is raised by an alcoholic father and remains tenacious in mastering new skills. In Soul Land, each individual possesses an innate spirit, which one can cultivate and strengthen, becoming a Spirit Master, a well-regarded profession. Our hero has two.

Airing 2/5 ~

How do you guys like it so far?

First Impression: What do you think of The Wolf with Darren Wang, Li Qin, and Xiao Zhan?

Did not expect to wake up to this news. Lol.

After three-ish years, The Wolf (狼殿下) has suddenly decided to air, VIP members get the full series! The story takes place at the end of the Tang Dynasty, when Zhu Wen usurps the throne and establishes the Later Liang Dynasty, and he’s known as Emperor Taizu. Our female lead is daughter of an official and as a child, she befriends a young boy who lives in the mountain. One day when he saves a wolf, he accidentally falls over the cliff and is rescued by Zhu Wen. The authoritative figure adopts him as a godson. 10 years later, he saves the female lead per chance and finds her courage and intelligence resonant, and she likes that while he’s in a position of power, he still has humility and kindness. She encourages him to fight for justice and he begins that journey by helping the people, stopping throne fights, etc. Even when they have conflicts, they will face those frankly. As they overcome obstacles and fight for justice, politics get darker and the path ahead becomes harder to trudge.

Airing 11/19 ~

Here’s a long compilation of teasers and trailers released at various events this past week such as the iQiYi iJoy and Tencent video conference. Sorry, I can’t physically make 20+ separate posts for each of them. I think I have written about the majority before so it’s nothing new. Just a peek from different online platforms for what’s coming up next for them.

Which ones are you looking forward to?

COVID-19 Anthology Cdrama – Together, with Ten Different Stories and Cast Members

I did not expect that in my lifetime there would be a global pandemic happening. It is – still is, very tough. Working in a major hospital, I was very fortunate to have a job through Covid but there were definitely some selfish moments where I just wanted to stay home and stay away from the hospital, where protocols and procedures keep changing every single day as we learned more things about the virus. Colleagues falling sick and hospital dispatching some of us to different areas, sometimes unrelated to our job; some smaller hospitals were sending my co-workers to work at the morgue. >.<”

I don’t know what to expect from these dramas but maybe all we need is a little thing called hope to keep us moving forward. Having this blog and some of you guys to chat with has always been the anchor of my sanity. So thank-you for that! Stay healthy, stay informed, stay connected, and stay calm! We are in this together.
