New stills released for fantasy drama Liao Zhai with Zhang Miao Yi and Chang Hua Sen as it wraps up filming

Liao Zhai (聊斋) is adapted from the classical Chinese stories collection Liao Zhai Zhi Yi by Pu Song Ling. My version of Liao Zhai was from TVB’s Dark Tales 1 and 2 in the 1990s. Lol.

From TMDB, the synopsis: A mysterious beauty’s severed head appears in the bustling marketplace. A fox spirit, trapped in the treacherous depths of human desire, struggles to escape her fate. When the Judge of the Underworld descends to swap heads and hearts, chaos erupts. A paper doll awakens to life with the final stroke of a brush, a wooden puppet grows a beating heart, and a withered tree stirs with forbidden longing. In this world where the boundaries between flesh and fantasy blur, ancient magic and human folly collide—revealing that even the most lifeless things may hunger for a soul.

This version will adapt 6 stories from the collection.

I don’t know about you guys but the wing flaps above really promote social distancing, atm. XD FYI.

Previously known as Held In the Lonely Castle, Serenade of Peaceful Joy (清平乐) is the new English title, and the historical drama stars Wang Kai and Jiang Shu Ying. It’s based on the novel written by Milan Lady and follows the life of Emperor Renzong of Song, played by Wang Kai, as he discovers an ultimate secret to his birth. He learns that his mother is the Empress Dowager’s maidservant. To repay his family out of filial piety, he marries his beloved daughter, played by Ren Min, to the Li’s descendant Li Wei. But the marriage is nothing picture-perfect and our outspoken princess falls in love with her eunuch. She eventually runs back to the palace with him and her action causes an uproar in the government, forcing her father, the Emperor into a catch 22 – does he want to fight for her happiness, or does he want to stabilize the government?

Discussion Post: What did you think of the Age of Legends finale and series?

Since I did a Review post for Age of Legends as the show was starting up, I thought I’d add a Discussion Post now that the series finished up this week. Judging from various comments and chats I’ve seen, it seems like there were quite a few of you watching it who didn’t realise anyone else was and others who were thinking of watching, but weren’t sure if you should commit the time. I really enjoyed it, but wanted to see what you thought about it.

So what did you think of the show? What did you like about it? What did you wish had been done better? Would you recommend it for others and why? Is William Chan the next big action star? How did you like his work on this series compared to his past work? Are you looking forward to his next series, Dancing in the Storm? Who else stood out for you in this series?

Every darn production is just gonna air now…

Adapted from the same-name novel written by Xiao Qi Xiao, Age of Legends (橙红年代) is an upcoming modern drama starring William Chan and Sandra Ma as leads. William is 30 years old, representing young men with a burning ardor, persevering to the top despite his humble background, displaying stories of love from all around. With a strong sense of justice and courage, he gathers a group of like-minded men. Due to an incident, he disappears from the world for 8 years, returning to find his dad beat up and admitted to the hospital. After delivering his brand of punishment to the deserved people, the nurses fall for his charms and upon meeting our female lead, the cop in charge of the case, they butt heads immediately. Doesn’t help that she discovers his involvement with a case from 8 years ago and is determined to uncover more dirt about him. Sandra plays a 23-year old feisty police woman, the beauty of the bureau with a temper to boot.
