Here’s a long compilation of teasers and trailers released at various events this past week such as the iQiYi iJoy and Tencent video conference. Sorry, I can’t physically make 20+ separate posts for each of them. I think I have written about the majority before so it’s nothing new. Just a peek from different online platforms for what’s coming up next for them.

Imperial Cuisine (尚食) is an upcoming historical drama featuring Wu Jin Yan, Xu Kai, and Wang Yi Zhe. It is set during Yongle’s years of the Ming dynasty as the emperor decides to open up the food bureau for female recruits. Our female lead is accepted, along with our male lead and another female – both with different background, one used to be a beggar, and the other one regarded as a genius cook. The three of them work together to support and create fresh new dishes incorporating medicines and savored flavors of the past. However, as our female lead rises up the ladder, the true meaning of ‘food’ hits her; it’s a bridge connecting people and different cultures. She gives up competing in the prestigious food competition and leaves the palace to join the common people in spreading the love for Chinese cuisines.
Our lead couple has worked together plenty of times before (not surprising since both are under Yumama), Untouchable Lovers, Story of Yanxi Palace, and Zhao Ge (not aired yet). But they weren’t always a couple.
Xu Kai is the new IT Boy with lots of resources! To Land Zhou Dong Yu in one hand and Yang Mi in the other shortly after. I need to watch one of his projects to see for myself.

If only they had announced it earlier, I could have combined both Wu Jia Yi’s dramas in one post! Dance of the Sky Empire (天舞纪) is adapted from the novel written by Bu Fei Yan, Xu Kai plays a half-demon half human who begins his story by getting admitted into a famous academy by his wits and confidence, befuddling everyone because he lacks everything they want in a student. Lol. But there he accidentally releases the King of Demons and now must fight his best to save the human race while being entangled with two lovely ladies, one is a spy from the demon tribe, and the other a beautiful human girl.
Also airing tomorrow 7/8!
Yay! A cute pairing! Ancient Love Poetry is adapted from the novel Shang Gu (上古) written by Xing Ling and the production team has recently confirmed the leads in Zhou Dong Yu and Xu Kai. The story follows one of the four Immortals named Shang Gu who falls into a deep slumber after sacrificing herself in a trial 60,000 years ago. She wakes up with no memories of the past. But someone else hasn’t forgotten about their love, another immortal who waited for her, our male lead played by Xu Kai. Their epic love story undergoes several rounds of life and death (you don’t say). This is the generic synopsis from Baidu…. I’m distracted by the nice weather as I failed to read a little bit about the novel. Has anyone read this novel and can spill some beans? Lol.
Another esports cdrama! The last one was a solid good hit, The King’s Avatar, with Yang Yang as the main character. Falling Into Your Smile (你微笑时很美) is adapted from the novel written by Qing Mei starring Xu Kai and Cheng Xiao as the main leads. She plays a simple girl who turns to gaming for her (ex) boyfriend. Alas, they were not meant to be. Naturally good at gaming, she is invited to be the first female teammate in a famous e-sports team. And that is where she meets our witty male lead who has a poisonous tongue; who is also the team leader. Ha! Their love grows slowly as they train, interact, and live under the same roof as a team with other players.
