Gong Jun’s popularity helps his old 2017 drama Fantasy Westward Journey with Chen Yao off the shelf!
My last post on this drama was indeed in 2017. Lol.
Fantasy Westward Journey (指尖少年) is based on the game inspired by the Chinese novel Journey to the West starring Chen Yao and Gong Jun as the main leads. It follows a group of game experts as they encounter a bug and get embroiled in a crisis overlapping the virtual and reality world.

Ban Cheng Hua Yu Ban Jun Li (半城花雨伴君离) is adapted from the novel World of Hidden Phoenixes written by Yue Chu Yun. The female lead in here goes through a lot of suffering at the hands of the male lead. She disguises herself as a male to fight and earn a name for herself during the war. However, she has to give up that life and be married off to our main male lead, General Ji Feng Li of the South Kingdom, known as the gentle, handsome, and elegant lover to all the ladies. To make sure our heroine doesn’t run away on her wedding night, her father sealed her internal force, rendering her a helpless rabbit. Little does she know, her husband-to-be – the man she also admires, has given her a poisoned cup of wine on their wedding night. Weakened further, our heroine is now at the mercy of the “sudden” imperial edict, naming her as the person to be married off to the Crown Prince of North Kingdom (it was supposed to be another girl). Thus, our heroine begins her hellish life being a chess piece among the kingdoms/royalties and needs to claw her way out.

Upcoming ancient detective drama Maiden Holmes (少女大人) stars Chen Yao and Zhang Ling He. Our hero is Prince of Qi who was ambushed during a crucial battle and lost all his men. Held accountable for the loss, he was later discharged from his title and travels under a different name with the aim to find out what happened. He stays at a small town and forms a detective squad with our female lead (a rising constable on a mission to overturn a case for her family) and two others, solving crimes and eventually getting involved with the royal schemes.
Chen Yao has two dramas out at the same time where she’s cross-dressing in both; one modern, one ancient!

Modern romcom My Unicorn Girl (穿盔甲的少女) with Darren Chen and Chen Yao begins airing tomorrow 8/23!
Our female lead is a figure skater and he’s a hockey player. When our heroine fails to be accepted into the same academy her mother attended, she pretends to be a male ice hockey player and plays in a trial round for her college team. She does really well and is accepted into the hockey team, where she meets our hero, and must live among the boys while trying to hide her gender.
