First up: Fox Spirit Matchmaker 2: Love in Pavilion (狐妖小红娘竹业篇) can be watched as a standalone drama. You do not need to watch the supposedly first installment Red-Moon Pact with Yang Mi and Gong Jun.
Synopsis Per Qiyi: It tells the story of Dongfang Huaizhu (played by Liu Shishi) and Wangquan Hongye (played by Zhang Yunlong), the leaders of two major families, the Dongfangs and the Wangquans. In a time when humans and demons are in conflict, they work together to stabilize the situation in order to revive the Unity Alliance. On the seventh day of the seventh month, at the Bamboo Pavilion by the Huai River, their fates intertwine like the sheaths of two swords, never to be separated. They pick up the most heartwarming promise and tell a story that has endured for generations. Leading the transformation of the popular Chinese comic “Fox Spirit Matchmaker” into a live-action series, this installment, “The Zhu Ye Arc,” contributes to the creation of the Eastern Fantasy Universe.

The First Frost (难哄) is adapted from the novel written by Zhu Yi and if you remember, it’s the spinoff to Zhao Lu Si’s Hidden Love. This is her brother (Sang Yan)’s story. He is now the owner of a bar and chances upon an old classmate who had crush on him back in high school. Our female lead is a reporter and even though she realizes who he is, she pretends not to know him – and he does the same thing. Something happens and they end up being housemates.

Looks kinda angsty here!

Sweet Teeth (世界微尘里) is adapted from the novel written by Mu Fu Sheng (same writer as the recently aired Crush) and stars Bi Wen Jun and Wu Xuan Yi as the main leads. Will they be able to create the same magic as Lin Yan Jun and Wan Peng?
Qiyi describes the synopsis: Zeng Li is a lovely librarian, who is in love with Ai Jingchu, a seemingly taciturn dentist. Wu Ying, Zeng’s good friend and an emergency room doctor, is pursued by Liu Yucheng, an overseas student, and they fall in love. Ma Yiyi and Deng Haoran, her first love, realize that they still love each other despite the misunderstandings and hardships.

Heaven Official’s Blessing (天官赐福) is an upcoming ancient drama adapted from the novel written by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu (The Untamed). Our two male leads have quite the history. The story begins 800 years ago, one of our male leads is Xie Lian (Zhai Xiao Wen), a beloved Crown Prince from Xian Le kingdom who has a grand wish of helping the common people. A child prodigy, he’s given a chance to ascend heaven at age 17, but is unfortunately demoted back to the mortal realm due to some unforeseen circumstances (bad decision, good intentions). He never gives up, that is his saving grace trait. Though he lives in poverty and has to work every job possible, he perseveres for his belief in helping people. He’s once again allowed back to Heaven, just to be banished a moment later (lol, this poor kid). 800 Years later, he’s given another chance to ascend heaven but isn’t very well-received. His first task is to kill ghosts in the mortal realm and this is when he meets the other male lead, Leader of Ghost City (Zhang Ling He). Unbeknownst to our Prince, Leader of Ghost City has been harboring a crush on him for 800 years. Turns out, the Crown Prince saved the boy during his first ascension. The lightning bolt of love hit then and it looks like a deep one.
I can see why some fans are upset with the styling, it’s the same hairstyle in the manhua for Zhai Xiao Wen but I don’t think the style fits his face well. Zhang Ling He is gorgeous to look at and his red clothes reminds me of Zhan Zhao. Lol. Since it’s still the early stages of filming/testing out costumes/hair, let’s relax and see how they will alter the details going forward!

Falling Into Your Smile (你微笑时很美) is adapted from the novel written by Qing Mei starring Xu Kai and Cheng Xiao as the main leads. She plays a simple girl who turns to gaming for her (ex) boyfriend. Alas, they were not meant to be. Naturally good at gaming, she is invited to be the first female teammate in a famous e-sports team. And that is where she meets our witty male lead who has a poisonous tongue; who is also the team leader. Ha! Their love grows slowly as they train, interact, and live under the same roof as a team with other players.
Airing today 6/23~
