Ancient Costume Comedy drama Go East with Tan Jian Ci, Zhou Yi Ran, Kan Qing Zi, and Du Chun

Synopsis per Qiyi: It narrates the story of four determined individuals – Yuan Mo, A Shu, Wang Kunwu, and Yuchi hua – who, driven by ideals, bravely embark on a journey for their nation and justice. During the peaceful years of the Daming Dynasty, Yuan Mo (Tan Jianci), a commoner from Changle City, stands at the city gates issuing permits to foreign visitors, using the Four Square Pavilion’s seal. Unexpectedly, he encounters A Shu (Zhou Yiran), a refugee from Yanle Kingdom trying to sneak into the city, which leads to an altercation. This results in the newly arrived border general Wang Kunwu (Du Chun) being punished by overseeing duties at the Four Square Pavilion. As a consequence, Yuan Mo is inadvertently pulled into the affairs of the Four Square Pavilion’s western office, overseen by Yu De Shui. He becomes a minor official handling various international affairs. Through a series of serendipitous events, A Shu becomes Yuan Mo’s “little maidservant,” Wang Kunwu becomes his superior, and the formidable Yuchi hua (Kan Qingzi), a noblewoman with power, joins the mix. Mocked as a “useless” member of the western office, Yuan Mo matures as he navigates through challenging diplomatic matters.

Qiao Xin and Ma Si Chao hope to warm you up in a Winter Night

Synopsis from viki: Zheng Da Qian (Qiao Xin) is a young woman who works at an advertising company. Although she seems happy, independent, strong-minded, and carefree, she actually has low self-esteem and is wracked with worries. She comes from a smaller Northeastern town, but has been trying to make it in the big city. But when she suffers a setback in her professional life – and another blow in her love life – she finds herself hankering for home. When she receives a relocation package, however, her luck takes a turn. And when she is caught in a freak magnetic storm, things start getting strange…

She is suddenly reunited with a man she once felt affection for: Mu Zi Li (Ma Si Chao), now the owner of a small startup company. Mu Zi Li, like Zheng Da Qian, seems to most observers to be a confident and outgoing young man. But, like her, deep inside he is quite different. The duo starts to realize that the storm may have shifted time for them, somehow. But if there is a way back to the “present” for one of them, should they take it – or would it be better to stay in the world of the past?

Time travel?

Family drama The Bond led by Bai Yu, Mao Xiao Tong, Song Zu Er, and Zhang Wan Yi

The Bond (乔家的儿女) is an urban drama adapted from the novel written by Wei Xi. Bai Yu plays older brother to Mao Xiao Tong, Song Zu Er, Zhang Wan Yi, and Zhou Yi Ran. The story follows their unchanging bond through hardships and challenges after their mother passed away, and they are left with a good-for-nothing father, played by Liu Jun. It spans 30 years.

I see a few familiar faces from the The Story of Ming Lan (same production company, Daylight Entertainment). The spineless, dimpled father, the straightforward first wife, and one of the sisters too!

Airing 8/17~
