Jia Qing, Kim Jung Hoon, Chen Ruo Xuan in Distressed Beauty

Man, this is why smaller productions get little promotions, their promotional materials suck! Not a lot of pretty stills and a whole extended trailer to spoil your viewing experience (well, this aspect isn’t new but still!). Here is another period drama with a revenge theme, for those of you who prefer this subject. Nothing new. In Distressed Beauty (卿本佳人), our heroine (Jia Qing) comes from a rich family but her family is murdered in one day, leaving her and younger sis to fend for themselves. In her poor state, she meets and falls in love with a well-meaning man (Chen Ruo Xuan). Unfortunately, once she finds clues related to her family massacre, she marries into the enemy’s lair, setting herself up with their dumb son (Kim Jung Hoon), who isn’t quite what he appears to be, while pre-marriage boyfriend gets attacked and turns his life around to become a pirate. LOL! I swear he designed himself after Captain Sparrow.

Vic Zhou’s Gui Zhong Mei Ren drops 10-minute Exciting Trailer

Oh! I like it in motion much better! More because I thought Vic Zhou would be a sitting duck while the ladies, Chen Yao and Hu Bing Qing, swirl and twirl around him. Nope! He’s not! He fights and hunts and gets on with the ladies. Lol. First half is action-packed while the latter half seals the deal with more cute and romance.

Hu Bing Qing, Chen Yao hypnotize King Vic with exotic dancing

Oh wow. I don’t think any man could resist these two lovely ladies with them wearing elaborate dancing dresses and covered from head to toe with bling bling. The latest batch of photos from drama Gui Zhong Mei Ren ((柜中美人) feature our two fox-related spirits (Hu Bing Qing and Sebrina Chen Yao) swirling around the King (Vic Zhou) in hopes of winning his affections.

The battle to be the King’s lady in Gui Zhong Mei Ren

Oh krap. This feeling is not good. When everything looks gorgeous and grand and then the chemistry between the leads is off. WAHHHH. WHY! I love Vic and all but his two leading ladies look like his little sisters… They really picked the youngest of the lot to be his OTP.

Beautiful trailer for Novoland: The Castle In The Sky

Boasted as an original story from Shanghai Film Media Asia and Tencent Penguin Pictures, Novoland: The Castle In The Sky (九州天空城) is a short fantasy drama starring some rising new faces in Zhang Ruo Yun, Guan Xiao Tong, Ju Jing Yi, and model Liu Chang. While the trailer is beautifully shot with magical flying objects and winged fairies, I can’t peel my eyes of off the ladies. They are too delicate and pretty, leaving Zhang Ruo Yun with the weird eye color contacts (the girls had it too but it’s pretty on them, Lol). Terrible choices!

Vic Zhou leads costume display in Gui Zhong Mei Ren

Lol! The timing couldn’t be any perfect. Just when I (and you too?) were wondering whether it’s a casting gimmick since we haven’t seen any hint of the male lead on set, the production drops an onslaught of stills of Vic Zhou looking his most comfortable self – awkward in front of the camera. Lol. I really can’t imagine standing there and smiling for the camera repeatedly for every single costume. Kudos to your patience!

Folks, prepare for the picture spam!
