Li Yi Feng and Gina Jin get entangled in political warfare in Fearless Whispers
Fearless Whispers (隐秘而伟大) is an upcoming period drama starring Li Yi Feng, Gina Jin, and Niu Jun Feng. Our hero is a young University graduate in Shanghai who becomes a policeman to uphold justice and protect the people. However, he finds himself the subject of bullying from his colleagues and being caught in political warfare between the Communists and the Nationalists. But as he experiences changes and dangers underground, he begins to mature and start his own revolutionary journey.

First Impression: What do you think of Zhang Ruo Yun and Wang Ou’s Awakening of Insects?
This one really snuck up on us, didn’t it? Not a lot of promos, then bam! We are airing! A lot of dramas are. Part one Sparrow with Li Yi Feng and Zhou Dong Yu got decent reviews, so I’m gonna go on a limp and say this one must be of parallel quality? The premise is quite interesting with Zhang playing dual roles – a spy and a gangster who makes a living by trading intelligence (kind of a perfect transition). Because of his resemblance to a Japanese spy, he’s forced by the Japanese to work for them, after they kidnap his younger sister. Unfortunately, he’s not the type of man to betray his home country and he eventually realizes his responsibilities as a citizen and fights alongside other comrades against the Japanese.

Indeed a pretty cast. If you like Li Yi Feng in republican spy drama Sparrow of last year, you might be interested in Fearless Whispers, his next drama project also in the republican period. He plays a young police graduate, who is idealistic and righteous, but findd himself cornered by colleagues at work. To make matters worst, he’s caught in the war between the communists and the nationalists, which slowly transforms him into an elite operative. Pretty generic plot for now. Other cast members include Gina Jin, Wang Long Zheng, and Niu Jun Feng.
