Are you ready for Justice Bao with fair skin and a pretty boy? Bao Zheng, the impartial government officer known for upholding justice and fighting against corruption will be played by upcoming actor, Li Chuan. The new webdrama Kai Feng Qi Tan (开封奇谈) is based on a comedic manhua, telling the story of a younger Bao Zheng.
Face Off (特化师) is a new modern drama about the make-up business based on the manhua by San Fu Animation starring Zhang Dan Feng and Tan Song Yun as the main OTP. I have been compiling pictures for this drama for a few months and they dropped a teaser a few days ago. The thing with me is I dislike updating a new post with like 4 pictures (and productions do this every few days), so instead I just compile them and wait for the trailer. This gives me more time to check out the novel if needs be, unless they have 10+ pictures = new post.
“Rakshasa Street” 《镇魂街》 is based on a manhua series by Xu Chen and produced by the same team who also did the short anime version of this same title, but the live action version of the story is a slightly different take, so if you’ve read the manga or watched the anime series, you can still expect something different from the show. I’ve watched the series without English captions on Youku, but now that it’s been licensed on Viki.com, I wanted to do a review as this has been one of my favorite dramas this year.
Upcoming youth drama, The Big Boss (班长大人), is adapted from manhua of the same name illustrated by Chen Lan and Chen Qian. It puts young stars Huang Jun Jie (Fox in the Screen) and Li Kai Xin (Solaso Bistro) back in students uniforms, because yunno that’s the time period we miss the most. Lol. As always they are polar opposites and have known each other since childhood.
Manhua series Rakshasa Street (超级网剧镇魂街) written and illustrated by Xu Chen gets a drama adaptation starring Jiro Wang (Looking for Aurora) and An Yue Xi (Tornado Girl 2). Release date has been announced to be August 2nd with 24 episodes. If you’ve been reading news about this project, you know I (and a few others) have watched the anime! The effects aren’t shabby at all. While Jiro is not my “older” brother material, I’m gonna be hopeful! Please develop the female character because her story doesn’t get anywhere. Lol.
Bolin Chen and Jing Tian have been filming for drama The King of Blaze or Fire King (火王), adapted from a Taiwanese comic written by You Su Lan, the second installment to her The Seven Mirrors’ Stories series. Yesterday, they released some official stills from the production to whet your appetite.
