Chinese adaptation of Hikaru no Go with Hu Xian Xu and Zhang Chao

Hikaru no Go (棋魂) is an upcoming modern Cdrama adapted from a Japanese manga series based on the board game Go and written by Yumi Hotta. There’s also an anime version that aired in 2001 -2003. The original story per Wiki: While exploring his grandfather’s shed, Hikaru Shindo stumbles across a Go board haunted by the spirit of Fujiwara-no-Sai, a Go player from the Heian era. Sai wishes to play Go again, having not been able to since the late Edo period, when his ghost appeared to Honinbo Shusaku, a top Go player of that period. Sai’s greatest desire is to attain the Kami no Itte (神の一手, “Divine Move”) – a perfect move. Because Hikaru is apparently the only person who can perceive him, Sai inhabits a part of Hikaru’s mind as a separate personality, coexisting, although not always comfortably, with the young boy.

Urged by Sai, Hikaru begins playing Go despite an initial lack of interest in the game. He begins by simply executing the moves Sai dictates to him, but Sai tells him to try to understand each move. In a Go salon, Hikaru twice defeats Akira Toya, a boy his age who plays Go at professional level, by following Sai’s instruction. Akira subsequently begins a quest to discover the source of Hikaru’s strength, an obsession which will come to dominate his life.

Interesting plot! Let’s see where we go with this!

Airing 10/27 ~

Zheng Shuang’s Rush To The Dead Summer releases second trailer

Rush to the Dead Summer (夏至未至) is adapted from Guo Jing Ming’s novel. The youthful story spans the period of ten years and focuses on friendship, alienation, and one ultimate betrayal that breaks the group of close friends, each going their own way and entering society. Despite growing up poor and kind, our heroine (Zheng Shuang) works hard and wins a scholarship into a grand secondary school (sounds familiar?) where she meets a talented painter-to-be (Cheney Chen) and his best friend (Bai Jing Ting). Of course, love blooms in more ways than one.

So far, the promos have been summery and cheerful, but they do promise a summer of laughters and tears. *gulps*

Rush To the Dead Summer with Zheng Shuang and Cheney Chen begins filming

Here I am having a blast this summer and then comes this hellish title to put a damp on things. Lol. Rush to the Dead Summer (夏至未至) is the next Guo Jing Ming’s novel to be adapted into a tv series. A press conference is held today to introduce the cast and release some generic posters. The youthful story that spans the period of ten years focuses on friendship, alienation, and one ultimate betrayal that breaks the group of close friends, each going their own way and entering society. Despite growing up poor and kind, our heroine (Zheng Shuang) works hard and wins a scholarship into a grand secondary school (hmm? sounds familiar?) where she meets a talented painter-to-be (Cheney Chen) and his best friend (Bai Jing Ting). Of course, love blooms in more ways than one.

Emotional trailer for Elvis Han, Hu Bing Qing’s 20 Once Again

Last time we spoke of this drama remake, 20 Once Again (重返20岁), of Korean movie, Miss Granny, they just began filming (Nov. 2015) and now we have a long trailer to satiate our thirst. Less is more people! Anyway, a very solid trailer! I’m impressed. Not on the grand term of a period piece like Storm of Prophecy, but in the slew of slappity slapp-slap trailers of modern drama, this one comes out on top. There’s a sad undertone throughout, questioning the choices that the couple made when they were younger. Second chances are the best, aren’t they?
