Fantasy drama Rattan (Si Teng) with Jing Tian and Zhang Bin Bin begins airing

Rattan aka Si Teng (司藤) is based on the novel of the same name written by Wei Yu and stars Jing Tian and Zhang Bin Bin as leads. Finally, I see Vin with a different actress! Lol! I’m reading reviews and the novel sounds morbidly comical at times. Our female lead is a demon girl (original form is some type of tree) who is killed by a group of Taoists during the republican years in Shanghai. She’s resurrected by a drop of blood from our male lead 70 years later. How so you asked? Our male lead is pretty perfect in description (rich, handsome) except he’s rather unlucky in love. He’s with his fiancée when their car swerves and he falls off a cliff and his heart is pierced by a branch. His body hangs like that for days. His drop of blood revives our female lead and he also in turn is resurrected by her demonic energy, making them both half-this/half-that, and he is dependent on her energy to live. Here comes the fun part because she slaves him around while she’s bent on revenge against the group of Taoists. But….they are mostly dead 70 years later. Lol. The romance is not heavily played out and it’s more like a journey to uncover the secrets behind their identities.

Airing 3/8 ~
