Brilliant Girls (爱的理想生活) is a new adaptation of Zhu De Yong’s cartoon, Astringent Girl. Zhu is a renowned Taiwanese cartoonist and the previous adaptation was made in 2003 called Pink Ladies with Liu Ruo Ying. Looks like they added one more female character for a total of five female leads all living in the same villa as they discover what they want in love and for themselves by going through many hardships in life.
Have you seen the original Kdrama Misaeng: Incomplete Life, which was based on the webtoon series by Yoon Tae Ho? I haven’t, but it was highly rated when it aired back in 2014! The original story synopsis: Since he was a child, the board game baduk has been everything to Jang Geu-rae. But when he fails at achieving his dream of becoming a professional baduk player, Geu-rae must leave his isolated existence and enter the real world armed with nothing but a high school equivalency exam on his resume. Through an acquaintance’s recommendation, he gets hired as an intern at One International, a large trading company.
There, Geu-rae meets his boss, manager Oh Sang-shik, who’s a workaholic and has a warm personality; fellow intern Ahn Young-yi, who attracts her colleagues’ ire because of her impressive educational credentials and by being extremely competent at any task; and Jang Baek-gi, a geeky co-worker whose anxious nature masks his inner ambition. Geu-rae learns to navigate and adapt to corporate culture, with baduk as his guide. [Wiki]
I always get giddy when I can combine dramas into one post with a connection! Here, it is the boys from last year’s hit drama Go Go Squid: Li Xian and Hu Yi Tian, their dramas decide to drop stills on the same day, with vastly different topics.
The trailer surprises me a bit, didn’t expect the OTP scenes to be quite romantic, dramatic, and plentiful! Adapted from the novel Records of the Southern Mist House (南烟斋笔录), the official English title is The Love of Hypnosis with Boran Jing and Liu Yi Fei leading a solid cast.
