Aha! The reunion of besties from In A Class of Her Own (remake of Sungkyunkwan Scandal, so they are the SJK & YAI of the Chinese adaptation) for a BL novel-turned-drama adaptation. Original novel is written by Fei Tian Ye Xiang. I took a look at the synopsis and would like to describe it as an uplifting relief for one’s soul from the harsh reality through their dreams. The story begins with one of our male leads, Yu Hao (played by Bi Wen Jun), a hard-working college student accused of stealing a watch from a family (he’s tutoring the little girl.) We don’t know much about him yet, but a quick introduction tells us he grew up under sad circumstances. For whatever reason, his parents left him when he was younger and his sole guardian – his grandmother, died shortly after his college entrance exam. And now he’s accused of thievery. At wits’ end, he wants to end his life and misery. At that point, he meets the other male lead, known as the “General” (played by Wang Rui Chang) who advises and guides him in his dream to retrieve his totem (a shield). And that’s how the drama works. A dreamer is saved when he/she finds his totem in the dream, leading to resolutions to the problems of reality. BTW, the “General” has another identity. 😉
Ni Chang (小女霓裳) is an upcoming costume drama starring Li Jia Qi (My Girl) and Bi Wen Jun (In a Class of Her Own). Our heroine is the youngest daughter of a silk merchant and she’s been training herself to inherit the family business her entire life. Unfortunately, the rival merchant shop conspires successfully to bring down her family, leaving her with a mission to clear their name and take glory back to the family. Under a different name, she enters a famous manor to learn and hone her embroidery skills, gaining a foothold into the business. However, the enemies catches wind of her intention and want to eliminate her. With the help of our male lead, who has been protecting her all this time, she escapes from the city. She returns a year later under another name; armed with new knowledge and maturity, she’s determined to turn the table around and become a successful businesswoman.
If it’s not obvious, In A Class of Her Own (云上学堂) is the Chinese remake of a very popular Korean drama Sungkyunkwan Scandal in 2010! I did watch and enjoy the original, the quartet had oozing chemistry, buoyed by solid acting performances.
Let me know what you think of the remake! You get 2 episodes every Thur-Sat. VIP folks get 6 episodes in advance.

2010! A decade ago… While I was having raccoon eyes studying during college with over 20 credits per semester, I was also nursing a blooming love for Yoo Ah In in the dark corner of my heart, who was all eyes for Park Min Young in the series. What a lucky gal, being surrounded by three very different but equally charming men.
Airing on 7/23! Check out the 3 English-Subbed trailers after the jump!
This is gonna be trailers galore folks. I’m serious. Both Qiyi and HNTV had their quarterly event the past two days and had been showing off their next batch of dramas to screen! Plus, just a few more dramas for October ~~
Long gone are the days I can focus on one drama per post. xD
Such pretty leads they got for the remake of Korean series Sungkyunkwan Scandal, one of which I really loved because I met the charismatic Yoo Ah In in there! It’s basically a cross-dressed female who enters a renowned academy and meets three very different men there. One look at Ju Jing Yi and one could tell she’s a girl, but this is dramaland and the guys are dim. Lol. Song Wei Long will take the leading male role and Bi Wen Jun and Wang Rui Chang will round out the quartet of troublemakers!
