22nd Shanghai International Film and TV Festival Part 2

Can’t believe I’m doing Part 2 for this darn festival! If yesterday was for local TV dramas, today is the hottest star gathering in the movie world.

Wallace Chung terrorizes Vicki Zhao and Louis Koo in Three

Time to check back with the movie Three (三人行) directed by Johnnie To (Contemporary Musical Design for Living, Drug War, Blind Detective) starring Zhao Wei, Wallace Chung, and Louis Koo in a thrilling cat-and-mouse story. Wallace plays the villain and he wreaks havoc after being injured during a chase and admitted to Vicki’s hospital. Louis is the cop determined to put the cray-cray man behind bars. Together, they discover their startling connections of the past.

Star-studded movie Call of Heroes with Eddie Peng, Louis Koo

Formerly known as the Deadly Reclaim (I like this title better!), now it’s called Call Of Heroes. The odds are against our villain played creepily by Louis Koo (Triumph In The Sky Movie) if the whole village is keen on his execution, led by Sean Lau (The Vanished Murderer) and joined by Eddie Peng (Legend of Wong Fei Hung), with solid action star in Wu Jing (SPL II: A Time For Consequences) and Sammo Hung as the action director. Now these actors are already up there in age so can we please get some fresh faces in the cinema world of Kung Fu? I don’t know, someone like Ashton Chen? If these actors have been playing similar roles for years, so can he! I don’t care anymore at this point. Lol.

Remake of TVB’s A Step Into The Past courts William Chan

Looks like the next IT boy receiving casting love calls left and right is William Chan (Legend of the Ancient Sword, The Legend of Zu). I’m not sure I like this… The original did bring fame and attention to the rising group of newbies led by Louis Koo and the talented Kwong Wah. When I was younger, I liked A Step Into The Past a lot… Time travel was a novel idea back in the days and who knew TVB was the pioneer of many things ages ago (heh). A Step Into The Past is an ancient drama produced by TVB in 2001; the story is based on a novel of the same name by Huang Yi and follows a police officer (Louis) as he travels back in time to the warring periods of China and gets involved in many historical events leading to the unification of China under the Qin dynasty. Raymond Lam played the first emperor of Unified China, aided by Louis along the way.

Intense trailer for action thriller SPL II: A Time For Consequences

YES! Real men fighting! Not your skinny lads wearing rock clothing and throwing around cute punches to show off to the ladies. 😉 And what a mix of artists too, not your usual serve of same crew. The biggest surprise is Ong Bak star, Tony Jaa, starring in his first Hong Kong film and leading the grown up men – Louis Koo (Triumph in the Skies), Wu Jing (SPL: Sha Po Lang), Simon Yam (The Midnight After, Sara), and Max Zhang (The Grandmaster) in a fight for their lives. Honestly, these actors are drama actors that I used to love in dramaland, when they were younger and had much less muscles. =P

Wallace Chung, Louis Koo, Zhao Wei lead in Three’s Company

OMGGGGGGGG! Did I die and went to heaven? Fantastic news. Three’s Company is an action movie revolving good guys and bad guys. Wallace Chung is putting away his tailored business suits and taking a ride in prison as a gangster for this new role. After he is let out, he continues to plot and scheme to expand his drug business. His rival in the movie, played by Louis Koo is a …. cop (of course!) who is sorta like a stalker, following the inmate’s activities day in and day out. To complicate matters between the men (yunno, after guns are safely put away), we have a cold and aloof woman (assassin?) (Vicki Zhao). Vicki’s role was previously offered to Gao Yuan Yuan.

Fingers crossed that nothing changes because filming begins in March.
