The Longest Promise (Yu Gu Yao) with Xiao Zhan and Ren Min wraps up filming and releases New Stills

The Longest Promise (玉骨遥) is an upcoming fantasy drama based loosely on the novel Zhu Yan (prequel to the Li Yi Feng’s Mirror drama) written by Cang Yue (Listening Snow Tower). Ren Min plays a kind and headstrong princess of the Chi Clan who escapes an arranged marriage (her name is the name of the novel; looks like we can expect a lot of changes to make this Male Lead-centered drama), and Xiao Zhan plays a cold and aloof royal prince who is sent to the mountains to cultivate (due to the Grand Priest’s premonition of him falling in love with a girl). He is nine years older than her and she becomes his disciple… their destiny and romance tied to the future of Kong Sang Kingdom. At one point, she draws his blood. If you like the leads (or one of them) stabbing one another, this is your drama! 😛

Liang Jie and Xing Zhao Lin time-travel again for The Eternal Love 3

I didn’t watch the first part or the second part, and now we have the third part! Lol.

Tencent describes The Eternal Love 3 (双世宠妃3): The story took place in a fictional world. In the modern city, Qu Xiaotan, a sales lady, unexpectedly was affected by the power of the mysterious Xuanling Continent and then traveled to the ancient Dongyue Country. She then became Qu Tan’er, the second lady of Minister Qu. With the thinking and habits of modern people, she was extremely uncomfortable with ancient life. And due to her “abnormal” requests one by one, Qu Mansion was in a mess. But an unexpected fall turned Qu Tan’er into a quiet one, which was the same as the real Miss Qu the second. From then on, she was sometimes mad and sometimes quiet, annoying people around her. In this period, she was ordered to marry Mo Liancheng, the eighth prince of Dongyue Country. However, she was ever entangled with the great prince Mo Yihuai. This woman with a changeable personality became the cause of many troubles…

Or WeTV’s synopsis: It tells the story that Qu Xiaotan traveled to the ancient times again after the Soul-suppressing Pearl becomes unstable. She brought back Mo Liancheng, who has lost memory in this life, continuing to chase love…

The Long Ballad (Chang Ge Xing) with Dilireba, Wu Lei, and Zhao Lu Si suddenly begins airing

The Long Ballad aka Chang Ge Xing aka (長歌行) is adapted from the manhua of the same name written by Xia Da. It follows our heroine, who’s a princess on the run. Her father is Crown Prince Li but after the new Emperor ascended the throne, he ordered his brothers and families put to death. She escapes, fakes her own death, disguises herself as a male and plots her revenge against the new Emperor, becoming a fierce military leader in the process. The manhua is highly rated among fans and has solid rating (9~) on douban. Readers also poured their hearts out for the arts as well.

Reviews are promising, our heroine is described as merciless and highly intelligent. Since she was young, she was trained in martial arts and battle strategies, so she holds her own in a fight. Our male protagonist is no less of a worthy character – he’s the adopted son of Jieli Khan, a leader of his own army, who is known for his ruthlessness and doing things his ways in the beginning. He slowly melts that attitude and begins to realize how his actions could affect those around him after meeting our leading lady. But he doesn’t know SHE is a SHE for a little bit.

Airing today 3/31~

Series Review: Jiu Liu Overlord (Cdrama, 2020)

As I noted in my First Impression post about this series, it’s been a while since I’d found a drama I was interested in watching. But given how much of a fan I am of both Bai Lu and Lai Yi, I had to watch Jiu Liu Overlord (九流霸主). The series packs in a lot, with the first half being a clash of upper class versus lower class with some political intrigue and the second half a murder mystery and palace intrigue. With a mix of drama and comedy, this series kind of has a little of everything.

First Impressions: Jiu Liu Overlord (Cdrama, 2020)

It’s been a while since there was a C-drama airing that piqued my interest. But I’ve been impatiently waiting for this particular drama to start airing and it was the best birthday present ever when it started last week. I became a fan of Bai Lu after I saw her in King Is Not Easy. And I think by now everyone knows I’ve had a bit of a crush on Lai Yi since his turn as the hotty doctor on Legend of Fuyao. So I was definitely eager to see him finally take the lead again in a drama. So far Jiu Liu Overlord has not disappointed.
