Raymond Lam and Dilraba Dilmurat in The Legend Liu Shan Men

Boy is she busy! Where have we seen this girl before? Lol. The Legend Liu Shan Men takes place during the Ming Dynasty when the emperor falls ill and the officials compete for power. On top of the food chain, the King’s brother (Alex Fong) and the Prince also desire for the throne. At the same time, a series of murder cases happen in the main capital, forcing Liu Shan Men, rivaling sheriffs to the famous constables in The Four to step in to investigate. Mainly because the head’s son (Raymond Lam) is somehow involved.

Fast-paced trailer after the jump!

Discussion Corner: Line Walker (2014, HKdrama)

 photo Walker08-131.jpg

Still enjoying this drama even if the tonal shifts are jarring at times. For a serious genre, with life and death at stakes, Line Walker befuddles me in its embrace of comedy and happy-go-lucky tunes from time to time, sometimes within seconds of a dramatic scene. I guess even moles need breaks too. Anyway, as Hong Kong dramas air at rapid speed with five episodes a week, it’s hard for me to keep up with recaps so I decided on an alternative – this discussion post! So please join me as we guess and recover the last undercover agent (UC) and the big bad wolf in the police force. You can find this post under the discussion corner tab on the right hand corner of this website!

Please refrain from posting spoilers of the identities of the big wolf/last mole if you’ve read it beforehand in TVB magazines. At least wait until it is revealed in the episodes. Other than that, nothing is restricted!

UPDATED (9/25/14): Episode 16-20 Summary.

Line Walker: Episode 1 – 5 “Great beginning!”

 photo Walker-26-1.jpg

hee! I marathon-ed all five episodes last night until 2AM! Haven’t done so in a while, for a TVB series no less. The first episode was rather slow because our group of cops, spies, and gangsters didn’t meet yet but once they do, the chemistry is palpable, not the romantic kind either, but in the spirit of camaraderie. I adore the chosen cast, even if there’s a nagging regret of not seeing Tony Leung Ka Fai onscreen for his TVB comeback. His replacement, Michael Miu, still screams handsomeness and charms even at the age of 56! Charmaine Sheh and Raymond Lam have definitely stepped up to the plate because they are hilarious and work very well together.

Raymond Lam sings themesong for The Virtuous Queen of Han

 photo VQ4.jpg

Yes, you are the king, Raymond Lam. Having two dramas air at the same time in Hong Kong and Mainland China!

And I’m saying themesong just to be modest, cause he’s singing the ending themesong also, much to many dismay. I like his singing, so it’s not an issue with me. And he has officially left his maiden home at TVB as of this week. I’m not sad, if anything, excited for his future ventures. To be honest, he hasn’t been filming that many TVB dramas so the news of his leaving didn’t surprise me nor left a gaping hole. Moreover, like many other artists who left, he’ll eventually finds his back in a few years because nobody really leaves TVB without coming back. 🙂

Now, let’s promote Vincent Wong to leading man status. You heard him, he needs to invest in a house for his family!

Time to get a first look at Raymond’s and Michelle’s drama The Purple Hairpin Romance in motion! Produced by our lady boss herself, Michelle has also invited famous Hong Kong scriptwriter, Ka Wai Nam (The Duke of Mount Deer 1984, Beyond the Realm of Conscience) to help with the writing. Oh….that’s 8 ounces of bad, and half a pound of greatness.

English-Dubbed trailer for upcoming film ‘Saving General Yang’

I shall call this year the year of remakes. 😛 I’m sure we’re familiar with the storyline of this one. The seven noble (and hot) sons saving their beloved father in the face of the impossible. Only one shall live to tell the tale. Louis Koo was originally cast as first Son but he got injured and they replaced him with Ekin Cheng. Truth be told, these guys are handsome but not very tough-looking. I’m very fond of Yu Bo and his overall build is not too shabby, great even. My main problem with these men is their lanky legs! I mean, seriously, if you’re gonna save me, better build up them leg muscles or else I ain’t running with ya!

TVB 45th Anniversary Awards Ceremony (2012): “Well-deserved!”

Photobucket

Is all I have to say. Your favorites might not win, but it’s hard to argue against the winners. Everyone looked happy and moved, and the camaraderie was palpable among the contestants. The stage looked nice this year, not the usual bright and shiny getup. We have a dark blue canopy with stars shining overhead. The one thing that stood out was the fashion. Ladies, you’re PRETTY! Dress BETTER!
