Is all I have to say. Your favorites might not win, but it’s hard to argue against the winners. Everyone looked happy and moved, and the camaraderie was palpable among the contestants. The stage looked nice this year, not the usual bright and shiny getup. We have a dark blue canopy with stars shining overhead. The one thing that stood out was the fashion. Ladies, you’re PRETTY! Dress BETTER!
Riding on the success of his “So Gay” character in Divas in Distress, Koo Ming Wah (center), posed cutely with fellow actor Jazz Lam. On their left is Ram Chiang, who portrayed Man Yeuk in the Three Kingdoms RPG with the right amount of heart and honor.
Nancy Wu arrived in hands with Tvb’s hottest rising actors, Vincent Wong and Him Law (right). Loved her shimmering dress but it worried me because in some photos, the material appears see-through. She’d look younger had her hair been split to the side. The guys looked great!
Tvb’s Goddesses. Eliza Sam and Christine Kuo (right). Lots of whites and blacks tonight. Colors, folks!
Husband and wife in L’Escargot, Oscar Leung and Mandy Wong paired up on the red carpet. She was classy but he looked like he’s prepared to go on a mission for SDU. Ahem. Tiger Cubs is over boy!
Ha. The RL couple that has been getting a lot of sour grapes from the netizens for their PDA! heh. They looked happy and chirpy together. Curb the hate, ke! Moses Chan with his girlfriend Aimee Chan. Her dress has a long split, showing her milky white leg, and I was wondering where was Sharon Chan? She’s the leg girl! Too many Chans in one paragraph. Oops.
Michelle Yim glared at the photographers. Her dress was STUNNING! Intricately designed. Two time Tv King Wayne Lai walked with her, just like their partnership in The Confidant.
Raymond Wong with Niki Chow (left) and Fala Chen on his arms. Fala’s blue dress is a safe call while Nikki’s dress (& HAIR) is terrible on her. She has the best skin among the ladies but doesn’t know how to use it well. Plus, her dress DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO HER BODY – except degraded it. Where’s the asset, girl??!
A boring tux on Bosco Wong, nothing new. His partner in Witness Insecurity, Linda Chung, is beautiful but her fashion choices are questionable. She looked matronly in all white, covering up all breathing spaces, except the back.
Raymond Lam looking determined with his ladylove, Kate Tsui, from the drama Highs and Lows. I like her hair.
Color-matched is Kenneth Ma and Tavia Yeung, costars in The Hippocratic Crush & Three Kingdoms RPG. Kenneth looked dashing while Tavia’s overall impression appeared outdated. Bling bling everywhere too!
More blacks. Last year Best Actress Myolie Wu in the arms of Tv King Kevin Cheng. Her dress is edgy but her hair gotta go. She looked like a boy.
Skip to Intro talk. Nancy Wu ditched her handsome men and returned to her Eunuch family – Power Chan and Elliot Ngok. Can’t blame her since the Eunuchs in The Confidant have more balls than real men. heh.
Vincent Wong and Him Law without their girl. π
Still as mushy like their characters – Mandy Wong and Oscar Leung.
Liza Wang and Fala Chen. Love her smile!
Here’s a full shot of Michelle’s dress. Still far away but trust me that it’s classy on her. Wonder why she changed gown later on.
Losing Fala Chen on his right arm, Raymond Wong smiled next to Niki Chow.
Bosco, are you planning something? Linda: “Don’t ask me. I’m innocent.”
Kate and Raymond saying Happy Sir’s signature word, “Nice!”
Smile for the camera, Kenneth!
Thanks to her heels and dark make-up, Kevin looked harmless.
AWARDS CEREMONY COMMENCES!
Lifetime Achievement Award: Liza Wang
Most Improved Actress: Mandy Wong (“Tiger Cubs”)
Loved how the boys were laughing and smiling. Oscar blew a kiss when she thanked him.
Most Improved Actor: Oscar Leung (“Tiger Cubs” & “The Confidant,” for me)
Yay for him! It was adorable when he planted a kiss on Him Law’s cheek! π
His SDU mates were proud, watching.
Best Host Award: Luisa Maria Leitao
Outstanding Artistes Award: 5 Recipients
Aw. I thought this was one of the touching moments of the night in that they (the veterans) have no idea about the category (most of them were invited to sit in the audience). Everyone looked genuinely surprised and moved by the acknowledgement.
#1 Chin Ka Lok
Uh, presenter is Eric Tsang, and dude, he won’t zap it! Chin was like, When are you going to stop? and snatched the trophy away playfully.
#2 Benz Hui
This is adorable. I bet most celebrities there have been cast as his daughters/sons/relatives at least once.
#3 Sunny Chan
His eyes crinkled sweetly.
#4 Lee Sing Cheung
The camera showed Fala and it looked like she was wiping tears during his speech.
#5 Carol Cheng
My Favorite TV Female Character: Kate Tsui (“Highs and Lows”)
You know, usually people say this award is consolation prize so most actresses who got this one first don’t look too happy. I’m glad Kate was appreciated of the award, proving to her that she’s well-liked in the audience eyes.
Her co-stars Bosco & Raymond laughing at her joke (?).
My Favorite TV Male Character: Kenneth Ma (“The Hippocratic Crush”)
Yes, Gotta hug his idol Chugot Leung!
In the embrace of Kevin, while the ladies wait to bear-hug him too. π
Best Supporting Actress: Nancy Wu (“Gloves Come Off”)
OMGosh! What a terrible way to present the award. This is Tvb being cheap and they know they’re running out of time too (keep rushing them to speak faster). For the Best Supporting Actress/Actor segment, they have the top two contestants (with the most votes) up on stage and open the letter of truth together.
Mandy and Nancy. At least these two are good friends. Imagine if your enemy is up there with you and you for the sake of image have to smile when she wins? Tskkk!
Nancy is nervous.
But she finally GOT THE TITLE! Yay for her! You don’t know how long I’ve been waiting for this moment.
Way to go Nancy! Hope to see you in leading roles next year!
Best Supporting Actor: Koo Ming Wah (“Divas in Distress”)
Top 2 were Power Chan and Koo Ming Wah. As they walked up the stage, there was this awkward moment for Power. I felt bad watching it. Power was shaking hands with the first-line actors but when it came to Kenneth and Moses, the two were engrossed in talking about the trophy! I know it was not intentional but seriously dude! And then there was Wayne Lai who looked the other way and only looked up to clap louder for Power after he went past him.
Nervous Power. It was quite weird hearing his real voice as I’m so used to his Pang Sam Shun’s worrisome tone. Actors who are able to tweak their voice for a character make the character theirs. Power has that flair.
These two didn’t want to look at the card.
Power finally did and he announced Koo Ming Wah loud and clear, then proceeded with a hug. Aw. I wanted Power to win too but the role that made the most impact was definitely Koo Ming Wah’s So Gay. I didn’t even watch Divas in Distress but I heard of his name miles away. I’m satisfied because I know for sure Power can win this award given a good character, but for Koo Ming Wah, this might be his career-defining role.
I’m not sure if it was only me but I was sorta mesmerized by the drop of tear that was sitting on Koo’s eye bag. It slowly made it way down and by the end of his speech, the tear has reached his chin. Beautiful.
Best Series: “When Heaven Burns”
Shocker! I thought this one was listed in 2011. Great to know that fans still remember about it long after it aired.
Best Actress: Tavia Yeung (“Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles”)
As expected, Best Actress always generates a lot of noise. This year was no exception. A battle between Kate Tsui and Tavia Yeung (really? a battle?). No doubt Tavia won the title for her consistent hard work.
Look how cute they were, holding Tavia’s hands to calm her down.
Elena Kong and Mary Hon went down for hugs as well. They shared the same husband in drama Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles. Too bad the unlikable husband Damian Lau didn’t attend the award! And where was my RUCO CHAN?!
The cameraman was hilarious, showing shots of Tavia’s boyfriend, Him Law, every now and then as he watched her hug everyone BUT HIM!
Proud:
Tearing up?
Okay, we geddit! He was not removing eye boogers was he?
Best Actor: Wayne Lai (“The Confidant”)
Now THIS WAS UNEXPECTED! Since it was reported in the media as mostly a battle between Raymond and Kenneth, I didn’t expect Wayne to win his third Best Actor award in 4 years. That’s Gallen Lo’s record. Whoa.
The king (Oscar as Tongzhi) was overjoyed, jumping in the back.
All the front guys rushed up to hug him. WHY WAS PANG SAM SHUN SITTING DOWN? He’s your best friend Li Lian Ying!
Wayne looked handsome here.
Another aw. The camera showed Sin Yung (Nancy Wu)’s happy face. Adorable. They were a pair in The Confidant.
Best Expression of the Night: Kenneth Ma
I had to do this. No one else thought of rewarding him? Just look at his genuine surprised face when Wayne won. And it didn’t last a mere second. He continued to look dazed after hugging Wayne and witnessing his other hugs. Too funny.
This photo cracked me up!! Knowing Kenneth’s humorous attitude, I think he was shocked because the winner wasn’t his beloved idol Chugot Leung –> Raymond Lam.
Other awards:
Best Variety Programme: “Map of Happiness”
Best Information Programme: “Pilgrimage of Hope”

Yui, haha I was imagining all these scenarios in my head and the best I could come up with was eating up the award envelop. π Forget class and grace!
Whoopie, your favorites won? Who? My favs are Nancy Wu, Mandy, and Oscar. Well-deserved for everyone else.
