And all the stills you posted proves one thing: Li Yifeng looks MUCH better in modern garb than period (although I think the make up in Sparrow is too heavy – LYF has a great complexion already and doesn’t really need all that caked on layers of foundation LOL, and is he wearing lipstick???) Why they make him up to look like a girl instead of the tough and manly spy he’s supposed to be?
The stills make me thing Sparrow is gonna be like an idol version of Disguiser or something…
Notice how in Disguiser and Nirvana in Fire the make up isn’t that heavy and looks more natural with the cast’s normal skin tone…

Yay! Another one watching the Bear Grylls show! I laughed hard seeing how put off Zhang Danfeng was with the white mice. I myself can’t stand (or rather afraid of) mice and rats in general, but white mice are totally different. They’re kinda cute, and I once even pet them :).

Oh I guess everyone here are not really fond of HQG. I actually loved it. Well maybe not the ending cos the chopping made it incomprehensible but I read enough spoilers to understand the story…plus I’m halfway through the book right now. I was just casually browsing other websites when I saw the video of the unreleased kiss scene…and boy was it intense. Was surprised it didn’t get covered here since you’re a big ZLY fan and all.

Oh, you bet I did watch that kissing scenes alright but with or without it, I didn’t feel the chemistry between them at all. Lol. They have great chemistry off-screen but onscreen, Shifu irritates me more than anything. I was rooting for Dong Fang instead. XD

It’s sad, I know — I totally used to roll my eyes at the shifu ship. But then I watched the Hua Qian Gu “celebration” Q&A (remember, it was the same day as those Weibo rumors) and the two of them just acted so uncharacteristically! I think of myself as being pretty darn logical and level-headed — but 1) Liying is NEVER that smooth with her answers, and 2) Shifu is NEVER that easygoing about his romance rumors. The thing that got me most was the reporter question “So — do we have a reel to real situation here? are you guys together?” and HJH answers with an embarrassed laugh and “it’s been so long since we wrapped”??? That’s such a non-answer! It just seems to uncharacteristic for him — given that I’ve seen his answers to Yang Zi, to Tang Yan, to Chen Qiao En, etc — he’s never afraid to straight up say no — we’re just friends, we’re just acting, we’re just mentor/mentee, we’re just siblings. I just don’t understand why he wouldn’t have said “no” here. And then when LiYing answered “yep” to the reporter question “Is someone like HJH your male ideal” — he just did the embarrassed smile. The reporters asked the EXACT same question to Tang Yan after Perfect Couple and he immediately stepped in to say that she needed to stop answering questions.
I guess the alternative is that they are just such good friends and he seems himself so clearly in the role of mentor or something like that — but they AREN’T that far apart in age and I don’t get the sense that they’re actually “friends” in a him and ShiShi or him and Tang Yan kind of way.
But yes, to answer your question, I am still on the Shifu ship. π

I watched the same interview too but of course, I didn’t interpret it the same way. Lol. I think Li Ying has been getting real good with her responses, smooth and sometimes with a touch of humor. Wallace and his awkward laughs could get him in trouble so no wonder weibo and baidu blew up. XD

I’m not sure (aka my memory is bad + I might have missed something) but do you have any news on ZLY’s (rumored?) project ζ₯δΉδΌ (Chu Qiao Chuan according to google translate)? I haven’t been able to go on weibo, so I haven’t heard anything about it at all. But I was looking through some of hunantv’s “celebrity news” clips that they have on the website, and apparently there’s been a clue about the male lead (the reporter was speaking too quickly, so I’m not 100% sure if ZLY’s actually confirmed as the female lead), and apparently fans were going between LYF, YY, and Wang Kai.
Just curious to see if you know anything about this. My info searches are usually sketchy, inaccurate, and riddled with misunderstandings. π Thanks.

Zhao Li Ying is still the female lead. The novel writer expresses interest in her pretty early on. She really wants LY to play the heroine (female general) and so do I (us). They are trying to secure actors but most of them are busy at the moment so no confirmations yet.
