Filming begins for Chen Xiao and Yuan Shan Shan’s Love Up In The Air

Yu Zheng’s first modern drama (he’s the producer), tentatively called Love Up In the Air (or Cloud in the Air) has a booting ceremony to begin filming on April 18th. I think he’s only interested in messing with the wuxia world; Modern world is enough of a chaotic place without his paws on them. Chen Xiao (Romance of the Condor Heroes) and Yuan Shan Shan (City of Angels) are the leads. I did not remember these two were paired up way back in Beauties of the Emperor! I hated her character so much in that drama…..she literally got every single man she wanted in there! Truth be told, I’m not a fan of this pairing. Yuan Shan Shan has yet to capture me with her performance. Might this be the one?

Ma Su and Yuan Shan Shan’s City of Angels secures air date

What’s worst than a scorned woman? When you have three of them! And you’re the source of their break-up? DUN DUN DUN. I’ve always said sisterhood in dramas is rare (WHY?) so it’s nice we get to explore how these three women split up, reunite, and become the best of friends for the rest of their lives. I like the trailer. It is surprisingly tame, somewhat uplifting and sweet. Don’t watch the last five minutes unless you want to know the ending. Lol. These editors!

Ten-minute trailer of Yumama’s Creating Beauty with Yang Rong

Hmmm. Not sure what Yu Zheng is pulling here. The fact that he had to announce about giving Yang Rong a lead role kinda diminishes her talents. The stills are gorgeous but then I heard her dubbed voice in the trailer…and I want to yank Yumama’s collar. If you’re gonna give her the lead role, do it right. Get a female adult to speak her lines!

Beauties of the Emperor: Episode 3 & 4 “What’s she thinking?”

 photo BOFE3-4-19.jpg

Oh…I didn’t expect the blazing chemistry from these two. You know, I have been MingEn this, MingEn that during the first two episodes that I completely forgot about the other man in Le Er’s life. He shows up in episode 3 and the air has been refreshed. We’re still in the process of setting up the characters, but hopefully, things pick up from here.

Are these two going to meet properly anytime soon?

Rejoice my friends. Some fans at MingEn’s facebook have ripped DF subs and reuploaded them onto youtube. Check the videos here. Now you don’t have to read this recap. 😉 I’m serious! Why would anyone choose to scroll through still images when you can watch MingEn in motion? Enjoy watching and please keep all discussions related to the current episode!

Beauties of the Emperor: Episode 1 – “MINGEN!”

Photobucket

Taking a brief break from my Jdrama viewing (Still have a few series to cover!) to watch some MingEn. I haven’t recapped a full episode in a while so it may be rusty. The last time was Feast of the Gods fiasco. Episode 1 is fast-paced and sets the foundation for our female leads. The war scenes are quite good but I can’t watch them for long because the fallen horses break my heart.

Wallace Huo and Yuan Shan Shan are chummy for HERS

Chum (9)_1
This photo is mean. Like Wallace and Shan Shan are having popcorn while watching love-fooled DFBB risk her life.

If you must know of my opinion on The Swordsman 2013, I’ll be honest: I’m terribly disappointed. Unfortunately, the wuxia aspect was glossed over, the fight scenes were short and laughably inefficient. It was pretty to look at, but at some point I wanted substance and a coherent story-telling. Why LHC fell heads over heels for RYY is still beyond my comprehension. Yu Zheng focused too much attention on DFBB and how to make her romance as tragic as possible that he forgot about the other important factors (logic, audience, flow, etc…) Le Sigh~
