More promotional materials are out for the live action movie of my beloved anime, Fullmetal Alchemist (鋼の錬金術師), about the journey of two brothers (Edward and Alphonse) trying to obtain the Philosopher’s Stone after an attempt to revive their dead mother goes wrong (lots of heartaches). We also get to see the supporting cast members in action in their full costumes and make-up as well. The movie is slated for a release on December 1st!
…Not romantically of course. One wants to protect her, while one wants to send her to jail.
Blade Of The Immortal (无限之住人) is the live adaptation of Japanese manga series by Hiroaki Samura, set in Japan during the mid-Tokugawa Shogunate period and follows the cursed samurai Manji, who has to kill 1000 evil men in order to regain his mortality [Wiki]. During his journey, he meets our heroine who is also hellbent on avenging her parents’ deaths and he becomes her bodyguard. The trailer has an epic scene with him and her against 300 warriors, with him asking, “Who should I cut down?”
The music gets me hyped up for sure!
Ooo, another Chinese adaptation of Japanese goodies. The classic story and highly rated Japanese movie, Love Letter, which hit theaters in 1995 and became a box-office hit will get a Chinese film remake. No names has been dropped yet either in directing or casting. Producing the movie will be under Dreams of the Dragon Pictures, which also produced The Man Behind the Courtyard House, Cloud Atlas, and Out of Control. I personally haven’t seen this movie before so can’t even throw out a few names for casting potentials.
Which actors do you think will fit the characters?
Wooohooo! Looking like a block buster hit already with all the names attached to the sci-fi movie, Yao Mao Zhuan aka The Legend of Cat Demon (妖猫传), a collaboration between China and Japan. Inspired from Yumemakura Baku’s novel, “Samon Kukai Tou no Kuni nite Oni to Utagesu,” following the investigation of a cat demon and the mysterious deaths during the Tang Dynasty.
Ghost lady from an old well meets ghost lady from an old house. The battle between the two queens of J-Horror is here. Sadako vs Kayako must fight to the death. Well, they’re both dead already but you get the idea. Everybody knows Sadako and Kayako. For those who don’t, Sadako is the ghost lady from Ringu aka The Ring, and Kayako is the ghost lady from Ju-on aka The Grudge. If you’ve never heard of both movies, then I can’t help you. They have similar names, and they both need a hair cut and a bath. So who’s gonna win?
My beloved anime, Fullmetal Alchemist (鋼の錬金術師), is adapted into a live action movie. Oiiiiiiiii! My heart is about to explode when I saw the first teaser, showing the beautiful wide shots of ruined cities, the horrifying transmutation circle, and a quick glance at our lovely brothers. You know it’s hard for animated characters to hit me at the heart but the heart-breaking journey featuring the Elric brothers always lands with moi very hard. They have a story to tell, a lesson to learn and to TEACH, and a courage no evil can stop.
My heart, be still.
The irony of the order of posts to come out. Upcoming Japan and China collaborated sci-fi movie, Yao Mao Zhuan aka The Legend of Cat Demon (妖猫传) releases its first batch of stills. The story is inspired from Yumemakura Baku’s novel, “Samon Kukai Tou no Kuni nite Oni to Utagesu,” following the investigation of a cat demon and the mysterious deaths during the Tang Dynasty with the climax being the forecast of the emperor’s death. Japanese actor Shota Sometani (XXXHOLiC) is set to play the monk and Huang Xuan (The Interpreter) will join hands as a poet in charge of unveiling supernatural occurrences. A lot of time, budget, and effort were spent to polish the script and build a masterpiece set.
