Lin Yun joins Wu Lei’s Fights Break Sphere, and first stills

Ah, so after the initial rumored cast was exposed back in November, we finally have our confirmed cast and first batch of wintry stills for Leo Wu Lei‘s next epic costume drama, Fights Break Sphere, adapted from Battle Through the Heavens (斗破苍穹), a xianxia novel written by Tian Can Tu Dou with over 1000 chapters. Male lead was confirmed months ago for Wu Lei’s casting and now we have his female lead in Lin Yun, a film actress who broke into the scene by playing the mermaid in Stephen Chow’s movie, The Mermaid. She’s 20 to Leo’s 17. Very close! Her character, Xiao Xun Er, is adopted by male lead’s family and his childhood friend, very loyal and dedicated to him.

Leo Wu Lei leads solid lineup in Battle Through The Heavens

Holy. If they really invited all the listed celebrities, this is one heck of a pretty drama to look out for. Battle Through The Heavens or Fights Break Sphere (斗破苍穹) is based on a xianxia novel written by Tian Can Tu Dou with over 1000 chapters. That part alone makes me want to watch than read. Lol. The synopsis from Wuxia World: In a land where no magic is present. A land where the strong make the rules and the weak have to obey. A land filled with alluring treasures and beauty, yet also filled with unforeseen danger. Three years ago, Xiao Yan, who had shown talents none had seen in decades, suddenly lost everything. His powers, his reputation, and his promise to his mother. What sorcery has caused him to lose all of his powers? And why has his fiancee suddenly shown up?

Baron Chen joins Hunan’s The Bachelor with 25 Beauties

Whut???? China is remaking all types of variety shows! The latest one that came upon my radar is dating game show The Bachelor and first season has 25 beautiful ladies vying for the attention of Baron Chen as the charming single man. I don’t watch or follow the US Versions (The Bachelor and The Bachelorette) merely because I hate the idea of pitting women against women, and men against men for entertainment purposes, veiled as helpful and romantic and fighting for love. Pshhh. When I saw a segment of the show on youtube the guy literally kisses every single girl, I was flamed. But of course, with every show, there’s a target audience.

Ariel Lin, Joe Cheng for star-studded reality show Race the World

I know someone will be jumping for joy at this news. My sweet old lady – Mom! I tell ya, she’s a sucker for dumb girl-smart boy storyline. And rumor in the mill is that they might collaborate again after 11 years! Mom still has It Started With A Kiss on VHS and dvds! I don’t understand her obsession with that drama, just like how she doesn’t get my love for Prince Turns to Frog. A girl likes what she likes. CANNOT ARGUE there. Anyway, I always digress. Lol. Race the World is a new variety show where the cast members are paired up to complete missions at popular places like LA, Japan, Italy, etc. Doesn’t it seem like these shows are basically doing the same thing and banking on the invited actors to pull in the audience? At least this time, they have some famous names from the Olympics world!

Period Cdrama ‘Battle of the Beauty’ premieres

Also called Xiao Hong Yan, this period drama explores Master Su’s mysterious death (or is he?) and the love lives of his 5 wives. Damian Lau plays Master Su while Second Young Master is played by Baron Chen (when is he cutting his hair?!), and the leading lady is Hu Jing. She also sings the theme song “Moon Water” for this series. I came across the theme video on youtube and the song sounds really nice, especially with the blend in of water drops here and there. Or maybe I’m just an emo person. *shrugs*
