Bravo! Wow….wow and WOW! Surpassing 30 billion is awesome for the team. I bet they are very happy. Not even finished yet and they have such viewers. I hope this drama will promote all the artists. They deserved it. The girls are all very pretty looking too. Most of all I am very happy for Liying. I saw on one of the comments on Youtube that the CEO of iQiyi apologized to Liying for saying bad things about her performance or some such. This just proved him (or her) wrong.

No, one of the programs in iQiyi broadcasted a special about Liu Shi Shi vs another actress (I forgot) but they added a tidbit about Zhao Li Ying’s performance in Journey of Flower and rated her performance a 2.5.

I really love Chu Qiao’s bright pink travel outfit with the braids. It looks REALLY good. Personally my fav look so far. They’re pushing YuwenYue/CQ so hard. I honestly like them cuz they do have chemistry and the production gives them so many chances and screentime to be fluffy and adorable. BUT I would have liked to see more YX/CQ romantic interaction. I haven’t gotten very far in the novel, but I thought CQ genuinely did love YX as a ROMANTIC partner before ultimately becoming disillusioned by him. In here the series, I never get the feeling that she actually loves YX. The production is pushing so hard for YX/CQ to be one-sided with CQ only showing respect, admiration, and loyalty but no romantic interest. I’m honestly fine with the end ship cuz what can I say I think YWY/CQ are cute. BUT it kind of bugs me that they made YWY her “one and only”, as if real humans are incapable of loving one first before ultimately loving the other.

Sigh, I have given up on shipping Chu Qiao with either boys already. She’s cute with BOTH boys and there hasn’t been a “defining” moment for either guys for me to go YEAH THIS IS IT!!

YES I agree, the hair style on that new pink outfit is soooo good, I really hope that when she play her new role with FSF on the new princess drama, they will give her these hair because she seems to be playing a beauty, and this is the hair style that makes her most beautiful. Please no middle hair split ever in that one!

YX/CQ is more interesting than YWY/CQ. Actually, YX as a whole is more interesting than 10 YWYs combined.

Oh lots of deviation …Xiao Che won’t get his lil arc I guess 😩 but YWY is getting all his moments in condensed form hahaha.

    1. I’m both relieved and sad at the deviations. Relieved that I probably won’t have to see Xiao Che’s demise!! GAHHH. That would probably kill me a second time ~

      ….and sad at everything else.

Actually I didn’t like his arc with Fu Er cos man that’s so…😭 but it makes me also a little sad that drama viewers don’t get the awesomeness of his character….Him preparing her dowry…arrangements post death…

        1. That dowry part killed me!! Especially after his demise. Such a selfless dude in love. At some point, I just wanted Chu Qiao to elope with him. Lol.

I am looking forward to more of the OTP explosion of moment. Ahh she will retune back to Yanbie soon and see the drastic change in YX behavior and makeup. The show is coming to an end soon i hope they add in more YWY and XE momments.

Haven’t seen the latest episodes but saw Shawn’s post on weibo. Somehow I feel like YX is such a little boy in regards to CQ…He is afriad of seeing her because of who he becomes ( he becomes a very bad and naughty boy)….i still remember how unbelievable his loyal servant was when he said he needs to wait for CQ because he knew she is going to be mad…kind of cute and completely different from his dark side lol
Also, can I just say YX is so hot in a hood lol

    1. You crack me up. Lol. Evil Yan Xun still wants Chu Qiao to see him in the best light possible (he hides a lot of things from her in the novel too); I believe it’s the mentality of everyone in love, you want your love ones to see you all shiny and good. Not naughty…unless it’s the honeymoon type of naughty. HAHAHA.

Shawn Dou is owning this role 110%. I’m glad he didn’t let me down! It’s funny how they filmed the scenes sporadically and Shawn’s last scene that he shot was before all the tragedy (happy and sunshine). He was able to film all three stages of Yan Xun consistently despite the uneven schedule.

I think it is pretty cool and challenging for him to film three different stages of one person life. Wow…his last filmed scene is the happy and sunshine YX?!…i would have never guessed lol
I started watching some of Shawn’s movies and I feel most of his role are not as challenging as his shift to dramaland. The first 3 drama he took on are characters that are quite challenging (emotional wise) and I really like his choice!

Btw, just saw Youth Dinner and I am still drooling over his muscular body…too bad we won’t get to see it in PA. 😂

Shawn dou is the best actor in this drama, able to channel different personalities like he’s different people..the hood was soo hot..now we know where his bodyguard from sunshiny days went in the 3 yrs of changan imprisonment..it’s sad how yx has to hide even though he so desperately wants to get cq back..but cq is no fool, she knows its yx orders that took out those people which is why she told the dead girl she cant take revenge for her, making her more desperate to go to yx to try to save him from himself..how funny is it that wei shuye is the one to lead troops to go after cq, that guy is incompetent haha..people around ywy cant get y he’s doing all this for a girl..same with yx’side, his people cant believe he keeps waiting and risking his life for cq..haha our poor boys

When I first started watching this show I was thinking it was moving too slowly and now suddenly is major things every day. I’ve been a bit too distracted at work just waiting to get home to watch the new episodes.

But I am getting tired of CQ suddenly being a damsel in distress every day. It was nice seeing that for the most part she could figure out a way to save herself with some periodic assists, but now all that “I’ve been shot with an arrow, sold as a slave, fallen off a cliff, shot with a poison dart” every five seconds has been a bit much even if it does give the guys a chance to be a bit heroic. I’m looking forward to her finally reuniting YX because I’m excited to see how all that plays out. And a bit nervous for it to end because I’m hoping it will have one of those rare happy endings that aren’t the norm for C-dramas, but feel like everything is being set up to not end so great. Here’s hoping I’m wrong.

I don’t blame you for feeling that – both the part about plot moving too fast and CQ needing help. That’s because they have condensed about 30 chapters in the past few episodes (of course removing a lot of other content as well). So it feels very frequent CQ gets into trouble lol.

It was so stupid when she got shot by the needle. It’s not even the first time she got shot by one!! You’re fighting a group of assassins and just flung your body?! What’s the sword for then? Decoration? OTP moments?!!

She be making damsel decisions like full-time these days. Sigh.

As a great fan of the novel, it breaks my heart to see how callous they are in adapting the battles here. Besides CQ’s relationship with Yx and Ywy, I loved most her bond with Xiu Li army and the battles they shared.

They also omitted one of my favourite scene where I teared while reading. When Cheng Yuan mistakenly shoots at her and XiuLi army…The men just lay down their lives getting her to safety. And she was so angry she swore revenge. And the XiuLi army boy who passed away protecting her jokes that all the men had a crush on her. That bond was so special and so strong and I loved it more than the romance in the novel.

In the end, they made it a romance drama with a side of fights/battles…rather than the other way around. What made CQ special is her strong faith..And we don’t get to see it here.

When I read cnetizen comments I’m amused they are only keen on shipping CQ-YWY..And dissing YX..to the extent they complain YWY has too little screentime and they don’t bother unless he is onscreen.

Here while I understand many are dropping PA because of its near incoherent editing and poor plotting. I will still be watching it live through it all because of my fondness of the novel.

Not only cnetz but also inetz on soompi and mydramalist.. it’s so annoying watching people gush over every little CQ/YWY moment and some of them even proclaim that there’s nothing worthwhile to watch in PA after the CQ/YWY kiss scene.. it’s like all they care about is the CQ/YWY fanservice.. i just wish this drama had no romantic content, i just want a story on chu qiao’s growth and development and yan xun’s revenge.

Agreed there. Though I love the YWY/CQ scenes, the reason I’m so sucked into this show is because of the whole story (from slave girl to spy to rebel to general) and the fact that it’s not like most of the drama’s I’ve seen as the romance hasn’t been as front and center as it usually is. I also really love how the ladies have been taking charge through out this show and things get done despite the guys rather than because of them. And I like that the “bad guys/gals” aren’t just one-dimensional. I didn’t know anything about the book when I started so I was at first expecting more a typical costume drama “helpless poor girl gets saved by clever, but arrogant nobleman” so I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how it’s all unfolded and how all the characters have evolved.

The editing in some places though has definitely been jarring (I’m rescuing a scholar during the day and now suddenly I’m in the woods at night running away from Wei Shuye) and I do wish there was more with Xiuli Army as those guys are awesome as is Xiao Ce. But I did like that there were those YWY/CQ moments and I’m also looking forward to her confronting YX and calling him on bullshit.

It helps that I haven’t read the book so I haven’t had the same expectations as a lot of the viewers, but now I’m even more inspired to study my Chinese reading more so that I can read the book as well.

The first 2 episodes where CQ and YWY were together with the kid (and CQ was wearing pink clothing) had got to be the most dullest episodes in the series (I had to fast forward some scenes cause it was going so slow). Only when YX appears, does the story pick up and get interesting.

I used to like YWY scenes in the beginning when he was her master but now when I see him on screen, I sigh because it’s a sign that CQ needs saving again.. CQ is still the same strong girl from the start but she is starting to get real careless… I hope there comes a day when she saves YWY and not always the other way around.

Love all the comments here where everyone is discussing the drama amicably!

The over the top YWY x CQ shipping is getting on my nerves. I’m biased towards YX x CQ because he treats her like an equal even though he becomes malicious, but seriously that girl is her own master and doesn’t need someone (coughYWYcough) saving her butt every second episode!

Sure, work together as a team, help each other out sometimes, but don’t make her a damsel in distress every time because it defeats the whole purpose of having a strong female lead! /rant

I stopped at ep8 since I was busy and planned on pickup it up eventually but now I’m going to skip this series. I was intrigues by the strong female character premise but so far from the recaps that I read, the production team are more interest in turning this into a romantic series and turn CQ into a somewhat weak when she is with YVY. If CQ is supposedly to be strong character then she should have an equal footing with YVY and not kept on getting save by him. That’s an insult to her character. It’s a very intrigue premise but thus far it failed to delivery on it. I’ll probably just do a skip a watching on YX character since it’s the only character that’s more interest me than anyone else. This is the only website where everyone are having a healthy conversation about the plot whereas most websites are about the YWY x CQ shipping that it’s getting ridiculous.

Lol yeah, that’s definitely not a good sign.. I put the show on hold and now I’m just watching YX solo, YX/CQ, Chun er/CQ, YWY/CQ fanmade videos on bilibili. I also saw a YX and XC video which was super cute. Maybe you can do the same? They’re definitely more entertaining to watch than how the show is currently developing.

If you’re up for it, my favorite video is a YX/CQ one called: 【因为一个人燕楚】因为一座城,失去一个人
I don’t ship them romantically but I love the bond they have. Their prison scene together remains the most heartfelt moment in the series for me.

      1. That mv…and that song… It’s one of the mvs I will upload on youtube too!
