Wow, episodes 25 and 26 were absolutely heartwrenching. Shawn Dou acted his socks off, he’s been excellent especially in the jail scene when he confronts YWY’s betrayal in eps 27 and 28.

    • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

I don’t want to defend YWY. Betrayal I wouldn’t say, but sloppy work of the “Eyes of God”.
So Mr. Perfect realize that he is not so perfect as he always does. This is a lesson for the rest of his life. The careless work of his secret service and the blind trust in the system caused the death of a whole innocent family. That makes him very implicated. He must not wonder that Yan X will hate him for this. YY was after all for YX the “blood Brother” and most trustable person.

      • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

I agree..the eyes of god would have prevented this if they had given the emperor concrete proof that no such rebellion was under way but i wonder if they had, would the crazy emperor believe? The emperor seems willing to listen to only what he wants to hear..YWY should have warned YX ahead though like what Yue Qi wondered before

        • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

I agree that YWY is in the wrong and should have tell YX ahead of time instead of thinking he knows it all. However, I doubt the Eye of God could have done anything on changing the emperor’s mind. No matter what “evidence” they bring, it will only be thrown out or use against them and causing harm to even the group themselves. YWY tried his best to make the emperor not find any evidence ie changing the letter. But in the end it all fail because no matter what this emperor is bent on killing them all beside his “step-sister”. Heck, Yan Xuns father would probably still be killed for breathing and he did. I hope this paranoid bastard have a tortuous ending.

    • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

Well he’s considered a spectator during the trial. He may have blocked a small arrow, but still, his actions are not enough to stop it. Regardless of his intentions, a spectator is still considered a suspect of a crime. YX has all the right to feel betrayed 🙁

Ian Wang (Yuwen Huai) posted this picture on weibo. He thinks that by covering his face up like this, he wouldn’t get recognized and then beat up by people, for being a horrible character in Princess Agents. LOL.

Who would have thought his cute facial expressions in Wu Xin have become a staple for evilness.

    • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

Heh, we can still recognise that it’s YWH no thanks to his trademark smirk. Zhao Xi Feng has the same smarmy smile!

    • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

Earlier there was a cute tidbit about Ian as well. He called his mum who was very upset with his character that she told him not to come home. He posted it on weibo. It’s cute.

I think even zhao xi feng posted something about getting ready to face all the hate 🙈

      • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

Hahah I remember reading his mom’s response. She’s so cute. She’s right! Forbid him from going home, mom!!

Jin Han joining Li Ying’s studio and trying to cut her fingers. LOL.

    • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

And his post about Shawn Dou with the tomato! So adorable! This guy makes ppl have a love-hate feeling for him hahaha!!!

    • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

I just realized maybe his name Yuwen Huai , the Huai at the end might sound the same as Huai meaning “bad” in Chinese Mandarin. Maybe coz he’s a bad guy. LOL Am I right or wrong?

    • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

me too but I didn’t see Wu Xin but I know him coz I watched Across the Ocean to See You – 漂洋过海来看你 .
and he was the cute little brother to the main actress. oh swoon by his smile and his cheekiness and I ship him with the girl pop star so much. I think she’s so beautiful. The actress’s name is ye qing.

  3. 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

He’s so funny, I don’t think he needs to worry because everyone that watched Wuxin don’t even hate him at all…he does have the villian look and I was expecting he would be playing those roles one day. Guys don’t get the hate like girls do. And he did his role really well. I like the pace of 26 very much but 25 was so bogus, the entire scene was almost an hour and it’s continuing from the same scene in 24, it just made some people look even more coward (YWY, princess, prince) when they can at least do something for YX but they all do nothing the entire scene, their sadness were a bit fake. ZLY make up was too bright so I couldn’t see her tear drops that clear. They all feel bad for him but nobody takes YX family as their own to be willing to go extra miles the same way as him.

    • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

Well the princess couldn’t come to help, she was held back by her mother, also if she was to help YX her the whole princess’ chamber workers will be executed. YWY is already under hot water from the emperor, his hole Yuwen household and organization was at stake, it is no only about him. He doesn’t want his household to come to the same fate as Yan Bei clan. He can’t really show his true sadness for his friend, this will target his loyalty to the Wei King.

      • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

and to think YWY and YX is only around 16 when all this shit happened TT.TT

        • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

YWY is actually around 20. Im pretty sure he’s mentioned it in previous episodes. Lol he definitely does not look like a teenager in the series

    • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

His true friends did everything possible themselves short of sacrificing their family..they cant do that, even we won’t. I hope yx realizes they tried and they were true but from the eps ive seen so far, it looks like yx is dropping them all..and who can blame him but i dont blame his friends either except maybe ywy should have warned him properly ahead

      • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

It’s a good argument, but I think if we’re really true friends, at that point, if we’re the princess or (especially) prince bc with such power already…at most it’s just ourselves who will get a light punishment and no family member (king/queen) or slaves/friends are at risk if they take the matter in their own hands. I just couldn’t believe nobody dare to speak a word but just watch.
Can someone explain what goal YWY has? He doesn’t look like he has passion for anything. If his goal has always been trying to gain power to create a better cause, I would see why he’s being laid back about everything. But it’s hard to see him in that light as of now. I don’t understand what potential he got besides good martial arts right now.

And the comment above, I did not realize they’re 16??????? They all look so close to 30 already! Esp. LGX. What does that make the princess? Same age, or 12 – 14? She definitely looks younger than everyone else but she totally does not pass as 16 even. I wonder how on earth is YWY like a super duper martial artist ever if he’s so young? They should’ve gotten Leo wu lei for these roles!

  4. 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

I’m glad that some of the “action” is happening now – I seemed to remember that most of this was pretty early in the book. I understand how they need build-up for a tv series but that was about three “building” episodes too many for me. Dump me into the fighting first! Thanks for the recaps!

  5. 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

My heart ached so much watching ep 25-26. I wont say that he turns black or devil anymore based on what i saw on el 24-26. He just avenge what those people took from him. I feel so bad for him cuz no ‘friend’ REALLY stand by his side. Understandable since they have no power. But also understandable for YX hates everyone for it. There’s no turn back. For this heartache feeling, im rooting for his revenge. Can anyone who had read the novel gimme a spoiler why it seems like he ‘uses’ xing’er? Havent watched ep 27-32, spoiler juseyooo..

I also understand why xing’er stuck with him. They passed this situation together. When they couldnt rely on anyone else, they have each other’s back.

    • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

as time who went by he became power-hunger, yui. just like any dark heroes in dramaland. there’s a price to pay when you’re aiming for the top/power. he doesn’t turn bad immediately…. there will be time…

and yep, yan xun can kill everyone for all i care. im with him to hell!

      • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

I don’t blame Yan Xun either.

I did FF some (embarrassed gulp), but does it really make sense that the King killed the whole Yan family but didn’t assure that Yan Xun dies? Isn’t that just courting disaster? Make sure someone hates you to death and then leaves him to live (to kill you?)

The Eng sub YT version of this drama is being deleted this week?

        • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

He cant kill yx coz if he does, everyone will be competing for yanbei

        • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

@mitch But considering how useless of a state he is in already, whether he’s dead or alive mostly has nothing to do with Yan bei?

        • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

@yoyo_oy it has everything to do with yanbei because with him alive and officially the heir, the nobles cant openly gun for yanbei so they secretly have to assasinate him

        • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

Remember when the king had 3 candidates to choose from to be the ruler of yanbei, one of the qualifications must be that they are not connected to any of the nobles but ywy smartly spread the news so the king found out that the nobles secretly approached the 3 candidates to influence them and so he decided to house arrest yx for 3 yrs and keep him alive as heir to yanbei to deter the nobles from competing for yanbei which is why they resorted to secret assasination plots with wei shuyou being the stupidest of them all and yuwen huai the smartest by using him

  6. 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

yuwen yue is super smart. surely he wont believe that xinger just died in that fake fire right???
how did she appear suddenly in front of the prison??
i find them dragging out the scene of yanxuns’ familes execution. tooooo long. had to fast forward.
was so sad at yx’s mom’s eulogy. but was like thinking, she gonna go through every head in that circle!! that would take an hour!! LOL luckily she just summarised that they were all generals.. lol

poor yuwen yue.. so mis understood.. heheh

    • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

Initially I thought YWY knew CQ’s death was fake, but in tonight’s ep I’m pretty sure most of his scenes were just close ups of him being all sad and angsty about her + YWY/CQ flashbacks in slow motion. There wasn’t anyone “around” or “watching him” (as in nobody he had to pretend around I guess?) so I started to doubt lol… then again he might just miss her… I nearly fell off my couch when I saw the bells attatched to his sword, boy has got it bad hahaha
I love love loved Bai Sheng’s (that’s her name right?! Lol) speech so much I teared up and replayed it later lol.

  7. 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

I guess the angst is about to start or rather continue?
Am reading the novel but skipping all the Yan Xun parts cos I can’t bear the stuff he has to go through so likewise for the drama I will wait for recaps & skip those parts…do you guys reckon drama YX can get as evil as novel YX? It feels like the novel’s pretty long & XE’s other love interest hasn’t appeared yet…

    • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

so lucky u can read the chinese novel! icant read chinese T.T how evil does YX get????
what do u mean XEs other love interest?? yuwen yue?
I like yanxun, but tbh I PREFER yuwen yue.. kinda sucks his not the main lead now T.T

feel its kinda like 4th prince in BBJX. but now I cant fast forward YX’s parts like I did with 8th prince in BBJX LOLS.

why is xinger so dumb. didnt yuwen yue already teach her about things not being what it seems?? the 3 students at the mountain??? wtf how could she still so stupidly assumed yuwen yue actually tried to kill her? WTF cannot comprehend..

        Hi
I think there’s an english translation of the novel in progress.

*SPOILERS in NOVEL *SPOILERS in NOVEL *SPOILERS in NOVEL

there’s a 3rd love interest by the name of Li Che in the novel. he’s the crown prince of another country. as far as i can remember, there’s another general who liked her but gave up and decided to be her family and watch over her as an elder brother.

in the novel YX becames evil and killed all those who supported him including his younger sister (his only blood sibling left). he even went after Chu Qiao. It was the combined efforts of YWY and Li Che who managed to rescued her from YX’s clutches.

Am waiting for the TWO bedscenes between YWY and Chu Qiao…but ZLY has stated there’s only ONE kiss scene so now I am really curious how the drama is going to protray their love scenes!

  8. 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

this week has been draggy, they dragged out this Yan Xun tragedy too much.

  9. 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

LOL, I’m in the minority who don’t feel that the episodes on Yan Xun’s capture and the tortures draggy. (Aside of me, I only know another person who shares the thought — on Facebook!). In fact, I quite like them, because we see some of the best performances! YX’s cries and his mother’s eulogy are so heartbreaking, I bawled my eyes out watching the episode. And I hardly cry watching movies. As she calmly talks about her children with tears streaming down her beautiful cheekbones, she clearly makes impact to those who are present — the Wei Uncle and the Royal Consort are shaken, the pain in Yuwen Yue’s eyes, terror and disbelief in Chu Qiao’s. (Except, of course, the despicable young trio with their punchable smirks.) Then flashes of the beauty of her homeland as she remembers it, which make her smile in her death – I love it. That episode is particularly dramatic and theatrical, and it’s quite unusual in a Cdrama, but it works for me somehow. It’s quite long, but I do think it’s necessary to show how Yan Xun’s world is turned upside down, and how this series of events strengthens the bond between Yan Xun and Chu Qiao. Also, the start of Chu Qiao’s determination to abolish slavery.

    • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

No! it’s not draggy to me either. the actual execution on the platform was literally only an hour long (not counting prison scene). this is a major event in the novel, it has to leave an impression on the readers. how could anyone fast forward those critical scenes unless you don’t like yan xun and want more main OTP moments. Lol. i have read some comments about yue-chuqiao shippers wanting yan xun’s moments to pass by quick so they can get their OTP moments. but that’s just not right, all major characters need to have their development and story to tell. Yan xun is NOT a second male fiddle to yuwen yue……. fans need to understand that his story MATTER heavily to the events of the novel and our heroine’s trajectory into wanting to abolish slavery more than ever. yue doesn’t have anything to do at the moment.

it was a great watch – stunning performances by shawn AND his mom.

      • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

Most of the time, I can’t really agree with this type of pacing. I’m watching this show because there is nothing else interesting out there now.
If I have to compare this to very good dramas like any of the young warriors or the yang clan dramas, everytime all the brotherlyhood/family ties were the best thing ever in the world, and they even went through together for 20+ episodes, but when their (even more) major scenes come up, such as dying scenes, mourning scenes, plotting scenes, revealing truth scenes, etc. they do not take over an entire 40 min. just for one thing alone. There is always a very good rhythm to what should balance and happen in each and every episodes. That’s why they developed so fast but also so convincingly. It’s all about action action action. It’s not only Princess Agents, but many new dramas now that are really taking this path, where they overly prolong everything. They are not really friendly when people are on a tv and have no skipping button. Some days, I watch this show and the pace was alright, the next day, I would ask so it just end like this today? Like, the 90s can squeeze in at least 3-5 major things within 45 min, I think there’s something wrong with our modern brains. But at least the last 2 episodes today was a good jump of pacing once again, and very watchable.

    • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

Nope…you’re not the only one Lenje. This is me talking – having read the novel, catching the episodes live, recapping, and the screencapping. FOUR TIMES! I cried every.single.time.

    • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

Nah, you are definitely not the only one. I love the passing of this drama. =)

  10. 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

I am a yueqiao shipper. But i am absolutely loving all the scene, the seperation, the cq and yx relationship development. Yueqiao relationship wouldn’t be that interesting if they just end up together. I actually growing to love yx character as well. I am so glad they have a good back story of why he became evil instead of just rushing it and making him evil all of a sudden with silly reason like huan xuan in imperial doctress. Lol yes some of the comments are so silly. Everyone should just enjoy the series as it progresses. I love watching series with characters that make a good storyline. Instead of a storyline going around characters. Ahhh man probably not making sense.

  11. 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

    Actress-playing-Bai-Sheng was amazing!!
Nearly done with the novel (oh what you do to me, PA)… loving it. I do think that the drama does it a disservice in some ways (i.e. many of the additions, like unnecessarily-complex backstories, Eyes of God, even the personal slave selection process… when Chu Qiao leading armies and her changing relationships with Yan Xun/YWY/her ideals would hold more meaning), but I can appreciate that they wanted to make it more public-friendly. And a few of the changes made were for the better, I think – e.g. reducing the number of characters, giving Chun Er a bigger role. (And the leads were perfectly cast??)
While I agree that the drama humanises Yuwen Yue earlier on, frankly he’s pretty much this level of chi1 qing2/secretly-nice for most of the novel anyway (and I guess that came with the ‘let’s-start-them-off-as-grownups’ territory).

    • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

Yes the leads were perfectly cast. I totally enjoyed Li Qin’s smackdown on YWH and the 魏 druggie in ep 29, her character is so naive and won’t have a happy ending unfortunately.

I must be one of the few that really loves the YX-CQ arc. Cutting his finger off and not getting her in the end must suck, he’ll forever be reminded of the one who got away :”(.

      • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

Princess is very inconsistent, so stupid at times (ask YX to joke? There are better ways to make her cry) but suddenly courageous at times. But yeah, her smacking down YWH was awesome, the best part I liked!

I definitely feel so much more for YX and CQ compare to YWY, but those two are also still such very cold stranger-like toward each other. Although he went as far as cutting his finger. They don’t look like best buddy yet (will they?), but loyal friends who’ve been through so much together. I’m wondering if that will be constant, just constant loyal respect? Or if YX will be acting romantic in the future episodes, bc she obviously will never be the initiator in it. She looks so cold like she won’t reciprocate feelings back too, how persistent will YX be in the relationship? Wish they’d made CQ and YWY relationship more developed so that we feel a bit more of his supposingly jealousy, it will be a bit too far-stretched and unconvincing if he does get jealous later, I’m only a little convinced on the scene that he misses her, like…what special thing had they ever done together besides fighting/training? So, he miss training her? He’s going to wait 10 years and I cannot feel his fondness of her. I’m sure he thinks highly of her, but nothing near love or even a crush.

        • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

The princess is just that – a child at heart. She is courageous yes, but only in fighting for the things she likes. She isn’t like cunning (not now at least) – she doesn’t have the brain for it. In her heart, she just wants everything the way it was…YX to joke the way he used to with her and all…but alas her insensitivity (choose your words carefully my dear…urgh) and unrealistic optimism will be her downfall. Imo I think she is a pretty consistent character, not one you like, but still her.

        • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

chu qiao is rarely the type to show her affection anyway. she shows she cares through her action – getting beat up for his medicine.

the yan xun before would have done more romantic things but in his current condition, one can expect him to be showering her with affection now right?

both have been through a lot and can’t go back to the days before. yan xun is now restrained by hatred and revenge, but still cares for chu qiao in the little interactions.

      • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

I’m another one who loves the YX-CQ arc. I like seeing how lasting their relationship has been through the ups and downs. Regardless whether their friendship is tinged with romance. YX never hides his feelings for Xing Er. Whether he’s going thru carefree days or hell. YX’s character also has gone through more visible change. It’s very easy to feel for him and his tragedy. If I have to go through YX’s hell, I’ll just be darn grateful there is anyone by my side. Even a good friend will be very treasured. It doesn’t matter to me what the gender of that person is either. His/her concern and companionship alone are invaluable. YX is half “fortunate” to have people who still care about him after the massacre of his family.
I’m a bit surprised at seeing how many viewers are attracted to YWY’s quiet love and concern.
Is YWY’s grandpa evil? It looks that way but I’m not sure. Li Qin will also turn evil eventually?
This drama is approaching mid point and the story hasn’t progressed that far.

    • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

agree with baisheng.. i cried alot during her eulogy.
I cant read chinese!! does xing er end up with yx firsT?? like married etc. she loves YX?? or like she knows she loves yuwen yue deep down??? hmm

      • 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

        SPOILER!!
        SPOILER!!
        .
        .
        .
        .
She does end up with YX first (kinda sorta, it’s pretty much taken for granted), but she doesn’t marry him.
In the novel she and YWY later both say they are uncertain about when love started for them, and she (if I’m not wrong?) wonders if perhaps her love was built up over various encounters. I do think there is attraction from the start, but it doesn’t develop into more till later when he repeatedly helps her out and proves himself to be a good person/ruler in line with her ideals.

  12. 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

I also love the last couple of episodes and thought the YanXun’s climax scenes (and the events leading up to it, the development in the YanXun-ChuQiao relationship etc) were extremely heartbreaking, but all really, really well done. The JiuYaoTai scenes and the prison scene when YanXun describes YanBei in such a beautiful way, were the highlights for me. All the cast were on point (particularly Shawn and the actress who played Bai Sheng) and the background music was great. If they should have cut scene, it should have been some of the closeups of the royals smirking lol.

As for YuwenYue, I’m not a huge fan of his character, but I don’t think we can blame him (nor the Princess ChunEr, YuanSong nor WeiShuYe) for not really doing anything because they were in really tough positions themselves. I don’t think any of the characters, bar the paranoid king, YuwenHuai and the whole bunch of sadistic, power hungry generals and ‘nobility’, can be held responsible for massacre of YanXun’s family, given what they knew at the time (and because hindsight is beautiful, isn’t it?). The only thing that YuwenYue can be ‘blamed’ for, is for not ‘clearing his name’ and explaining everything properly when YanXun questioned him about his involvement in the downfall of YanBei in the prison scene after the JiuYaoTai ordeal. I felt that at the beginning of that scene, YanXun was asking all those questions because he still had a bit of belief in YuwenYue, but YuwenYue just admitted everything! It’s no wonder YanXun felt so betrayed and YuwenYue became ‘misunderstood’!

  13. 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

I think the most painful point that XY made during the confrontation scene with YWY was that he asked twice “to imply only”??!!!
YQ is wiser when he asked YWY to tell XY clearly of the bad intentions of the Emperor towards his father. If YWY feared that XY would cry off to the Dowager Queen ,he can tell XY as a condition of what he is going to tell him next if he agreed then have a I-am-going to say-this-once talk with XY
For a spy head, he should had known how critical was the situation when the Emperor asked him to “manufacture” evidence that the Duke was going to rebel. Moreover he saw YWH around when he came out, that should had triggered red alert.
That what hurt most when a supposedly friend and a spy head to boot , withheld vital information detrimental to his father and family.

Oh they’ve moved on to the end of Yan Xun’s captivity. The Royal Hunting scene is coming soon…Lots of new characters are turning up…hopefully Li Che (or Xiao Che here) will show up soon.

Yep, it is their song…. WAHH WAHHH!!

  15. 62 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 4: Episodes 25 – 32

She finally looks so much prettier at last in those later eps! Wouldn’t surprised if YWY have a slow motion stare at her while walking into the scene, not likely to happen though. But seems like more annoying and spoil + jealousy girls are coming up, yikes! I was not prepared about CQ having that third guy coming.

30 out of 68 episodes and the story just now barely takes off. They dragged out the beginning episodes way too long. I really hope they don’t rush the rest of the story. Between Yuwen Yue and Yan Xue, I honestly don’t know who is the main love interest anymore. The drama promotes heavily on YWY and CQ so I’m guessing he is supposed to be but it feels really forced to me. Like all the forced OTP moments. This whole time I find YWY quiet love really boring….like really boring. Though in the recent episodes, I do start to understand his position but it’s a bit too late, I can’t really feel “their love”. That moment when CQ overhear the grandpa and cries, I honestly don’t feel it either because this whole time it seem like her and YWY is just playing the game of wit with each other….and I never feel like they “love” or even care for each other. Well YWY do show some care but not CQ….it seem like this whole time she was just “using” him as well and waiting for a moment of revenge under a fake pretense..that fake cry and smile after he confronts her about trying to poison YWH or accidentally kill that lady by the river. The forced otp moments doesn’t really help much…except for some lame worthy moments that water down CQ character. So when she suddenly felt betrayed….I barely feel it.
On the other hand, Yan Xun and Chu Qiao relationship seems a lot more genuine with her being herself around him before the tragedy and how he gives her space but tries his best to protect her and show his affections. I can also feel her being moved by him in the hole in the forest scene. However even with their development right now, no matter how much I want to ship them…there is just this tiny feeling in my heart that can’t grasp onto their “love” and feel like CQ really just pity him so she stayed by his side. She definitely show that she cared a lot for Yan Xun more than she care for Yuwen Yue though but I still wouldn’t call that love. Sorry for the long post but in all, i thought that Yan Xun story is a lot more interesting that Yuwen Yue and he should have been the main love interest, whether or not he gets her at the end…it’s worth it for the character arch. Yuwen Yue right now is just….plain and boring. I hope YWY will change soon and have a better arch. I would hate it if they try shove him down our throat so CQ can have someone because Yan Xun turn evil. Who knows…just watch me jump ship in a couple of episode lol. The princess though, I can’t stand her whiny and useless character. I still don’t understand how she “matters” to the story….but I haven’t read the book so lol

Me too love it. Dont feel dragged out to me because they are important to show how their relationship transitioned, why chu qiao cant leave yx and why they became so close and how yx slowly turned dark

I love the BTS from this show. Can’t believe we are half way done and they haven’t left Da Wei yet. Looking forward for next week, hopefully Deng Lun’s character shows up soon.

The problem with princess chun er is that ever since she was a child until she got older (b4 yx family tragedy), she takes for granted the fact that yx spoils her rotten and gives her anything she wants eventhough they arent originally for her (rabbit, horse saddle)..making her blind to the fact that the yx she knew is gone and that the yx of now is clearly repulsed by her and hates her..he’s not hiding it from her but she pretends not to see it thinking he’ll be back to how he was and that makes her stupid and she will realize it when yx is forced into marriage with her
