Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

Based on the July Schedule they uploaded last night, there’s a possibility of having 66+ episodes? Nobody knows how many episodes it will have now. Same schedule for July (mon-thursday, 2 ep/night). I know you guys are happy but the recapping team is exhausted. Lol.

I can’t wait to see Deng Lun appear. Also Sha Jie Jie’s right hand man.

I have occasionally checked on the Soompi thread for PA, at first it was fairly readable but it’s basically descended into a full on OTT CQ and YWY shipfest now. Nearly every post is raving about YWY’s handsomeness or lusting over fanservice scenes (everyone keeps talking about the bathroom scene) with thirsty posters projecting their romantic fantasies onto YWY. I mean, there are people dissecting every single one of YWY’s gazes and what it means, as if every fibre of his being lives on CQ xD.

Hence I’ve given up on hoping for meaningful discussion regarding the plotline involving YX or the 7th prince being smarter than his dad the King in not wanting to 放虎归山. Not killing YX is a major headscratcher and plot hole, I really hope the show keeps its pacing tight to last the distance, 66 episodes sounds quite excessive.

I agree with you. I don’t want to pour cold water on PA, but there are definitely multiple plot holes. Drama plots are often written so that Mary Sue being pursued by several princes is the primary objective, as much as they try to be subtle about it. Everything else has to be in the back seat, so I’m not surprised some subplots are not making sense in the drama. The political plot to the writers is probably just icing on the cake. The producers also spend more money on the young actors than the older ones. The actors for the emperor, Duke Dingbei, Mr Wu are all rather mediocre. Quite a bit worse than the younger “idol” actors. I think this shows the priorities of this drama. All the energy is focused on a few spots. Just aim to get high ratings.
Your comments had me smiling. I won’t be reading that soompi thread then. YWY/LGX is not having any effect on me. Not that there’s anything wrong with the actor.

      • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

Check it out for the lulz. It’s on fire thanks to LGX, I am a girl myself and the amount of pantydropping going on in that thread is bewildering.

      • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

“Mary Sue being pursued by several princes is the primary objective” sounds like sound of dessert where the main girl was pursued by way too many princes so they forgot how to make sense of her identity and storyline.

        • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

They go a bit far with this in PA too. The prince portrayed by Niu Jun Feng here only has a few scenes in common with Chu Qiao/Xing Er, and has even fewer 1 on 1 interaction. Yet suddenly he falls deeply in love with CQ. Gratuitous Mary Sue-ing.
I can’t even count how many male characters were in love with Hua Qian Gu.

I agree with others on how nice it is to have a short post on what’s on Soompi. Thanks!

      • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

I meant “Mr Dongfang” above. Not “Mr Wu”.

    • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

I heard is not 68 episodes. They have changed to 58 episodes instead.

      • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

Where did you heard it? I’m really anxious 😩…

    • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

Lol I visited the thread and just nice, they were discussing your comment.
Seems like they are more of LGX-ZLY’s shipper fans rather than PA’s fans.

    • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

Thanks for this comment. I was looking forward to discussing the drama on the Soompi thread but it’s the thread turned into a bunch of fangirls lusting over YWY/LGX. And God forbid anyone posts a dissenting opinion or they will jump on them like rabid animals. I don’t post there but I occasionally look at the thread and I pity anyone who dares to post an opposing opinion about the drama,YWY or the CQ YWY ship.

I much prefer reading and following the discussion on this site where even the fans can acknowledge the flaws.

have u tried messaging a moderator? I thk its a violation to ship n be excessive n not mindful for other people’s very valid opinions. its a forum, should have been a place to have healthy discussion and opposing opinions. In some of the the very active Kdrama forums, moderators are there n they do issue warnings.. and that lets the forum stay peaceful and courteous.

      • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

It’s okay, PA is meant to be nothing more than an idol male harem drama anyway. Every single prince falls head over heels for CQ, much as I love her character the weak plot is the source of constant eyerolls.

DengLun’s XiaoCe character is rather annoying, even if the synopsis meant for him to be 扮豬吃老虎。

  3. 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

Thank you so much guys for the articulate recaps, i can see that it’s exhausting, and you’re doing such a good job, because this is literally where i understand the show, since i don’t know a lick of chinese and the subtitles are quite frankly horrid, i read the recaps to comprehend what’s actually happening so thank you agai for all your hardwork.

  4. 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

IIRC, the king’s decision not to kill YX is also influenced by the royal consort, no? Saying something about YX grows up in Chang ‘an, he’d never plot against the king. The consort has tried to reason with the king before regarding his genocide plan, to no avail. So I guess she makes sure YX remains alive for the sake of her daughter. She probably thinks YX will feel indebted — and of course she’s totally wrong.

I rewatched some episodes prior to the massacre, and realized that there’s much more to the consort than I had thought. She’s certainly much more intelligent than the king, YWH + his creepy grandpa, and her own children. She’s also observant and pretty cunning. There’s one scene where she correctly concludes that Yuwen Yue must be behind a certain incident.

With all its flaws, what pleases me about the drama is the number of capable women it portrays (or attempts to portray). We see the fighters in Chu Qiao and Zhong Yu (with Zhong Yu leading her own all female guards), the Da Liang princess/agent, the strong and smart mothers (Bai Sheng & Consort Wei).

I wish that the drama would show the battle of wits and strategies. I know that the Liang people are portrayed as the evil enemies, but it’s normal for warring states to weaken their rivals at all cost.

    • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

Finished today’s episodes and the storyline’s flaw is quite bad, nobody can be that stupid to even have a thought that YX will be a loyal servant again, not even 0% that he will, so no matter what the circumstance is, pardoning his life was stupid enough already but to let him serve again is really over the top. CQ is also, still a maid after all or have no social class, she killed a high ranking person (YWH creepy grandfather) but nobody was smart enough to bring that up during the celebration. I think they made all the bad guys too extra extra dumb. They could’ve attack YWY again at the same time with CQ?
Part of it is probably to move things faster and have CQ join in a cool competition, but I’d rather CQ and YX return as powerful guests and win all those kicking asses competitions. Because those two, their trust with the Yu’s men are broken way too far, it’s too impossible to be in a team ever again.

      • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

This is where reading is sometimes better than watching. I’m not saying the novel is perfect but they definitely explain the reasons better than is portrayed because I feel many are not getting the true picture. NOBODY believes YX is a loyal servant. Everyone wants him dead. Pardoning his life, etc are all facades. The King never meant for YX to leave Western Yan. It’s all to lull YanXun into a false sense of security…not that Yan Xun is not aware. He is playing to their tune, making his own counter plans.
In the book, Chu Qiao was never directly implicated in the killing of YWX if I remember correctly so here is where the writers might want to explain that away. Or YWY could just deny everything.
Chu Qiao was freed of slavery so that makes her just a commoner…compared to all these Princes and Young masters of course she doesn’t have much social standing.
And at this point, YWY is not anyone’s enemy or target. Only YWH holds a grudge against him. Why would Zhao Xifeng and Wei Shuyou attack him and CQ together? And Yan Xun can win competitions no doubt but he is trying to come across as submissive to the King so I doubt he wants to be that low profile. He barely got away the first time why would he put himself in a tight spot again.

        • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

Yeah, by just watching without reading, we all have thousands of interpretations. Not until you point it out, the king looks way too ignorant and dumb so none of us can be guessing he still have a brain left to play with YX, he didn’t portray anything smart at all, I think he need to reveal that somewhere later so people who didn’t understand get an explanation and understanding too of why he’s so stupid earlier.

I’m sure YWY gets more explanation about his character in novel version too, while for us watchers, we only see him “emotionless” and can’t think anything beyond that, like what’s in his mind? All we care was, he looks like a piece of wood. So his motives were always so unknown to us and even uninteresting too, where as, if I were to read it I believe I wouldn’t feel the same way.

      • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

I don’t believe anyone thinks that Yan Xun will be loyal, especially not the emperor. But as I understand it the emperor believes he has a stronger chance of restraining Yan Xun than if any of the other nobles get appointed to Yan Bei. He is at this point more concerned of the nobles getting to much power.

The only major plot hole is Chu Qiao’s love line. Though why she would end up with any but Yan Xun is right now beyond me. (That is all my personal taste and take lol)

And I really love Chu Qiao to regain her memories. I want to see her kicking everyones ass!

        • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

Yes the love line is really not getting anywhere, so is the amnesia. But…what’s confusing is that all the political stuff are not moving as well.

The new guy coming up really reminds me of the past YX! Just as smiley and as happy going as YX!

Wondering why didn’t CQ end up with this new guy? He looks the least harmful. Is anyone else overwhelmed by how many character they are introducing? Like princess Zhama just came in but I don’t know if she will come back ever again for what reason (what was the purpose of creating her?). The old guy back then who almost cure her amnesia, he was so useful and loyal but just totally gone (was he killed?). The sisters were annoying I’m glad they’re gone but it’s also weird how they just disappear completely too. Su Jin and her boring gangs were gone for God sake but whatever goals they were having was so unclear, what a non-progressing group they are. What happen after all these time was that new people came in and came out randomly and install time from letting CQ know her identity. I hope Prince Deng Lun will be the end of introducing new characters.

        • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

I haven’t read the novel, but what I’ve heard about him is although he loves her he chooses to stand by her side as a friend and support. It will be interesting to see how they spin it in the tv-series.

As for princess Zhama I just think they are using her as a means to cross Chu Qiao and the emperor and his son’s path. Or at least that is how it looks right now.

Because of everything that has happened for her to have any deeper contact with the weird hamster guy would be somewhat strange. As for the sisters, I think they have been moved to somewhere safe. If they where to stay with Chu Qiao they would have ended up being a liability.

      • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

The show was very clear as to why yx was kept alive..dont know why you cant see it

        • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

Princess zhama was used for cq to be noticed by the prince and emperor so she will be recruited into the army..the sisters are with yan bei loyalists..they cant possibly stay with cq in the house

        • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

As for ywy, he is loyal to the emperor but that doesnt mean he agrees to everything which is why he helps yx in the sly..he cares for cq and cq pretends she doesnt know it, what matters to cq now is helping yx at all costs..the only problem with this show is by pushing the main otp, they illogically cross out the yx cq loveline when at this point, viewers would understand how cq would fall for yx since theyve been living together for 3 yrs now!! The falling out of love would have been understanable anyway when yx turns too power-hungry and no longer content with what they had accomplished together

        • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

The drama does give out a reason, but the supporting logic for the given reason is not to everyone’s taste.

Just when in case of emergency, one should first care about minimizing fatalities.

As a king, you first ensure your life, minimize threat. Yan Bei is just a bonus point.

    • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

The king did not kill yx becaise of yan bei..he knows not killing him will be problematic but killing will be more problematic for him because it leaves yanbei wihout an heir and every noble will be competing for it..remember when the king had 3 candidates to choose from as to who will rule yan bei and one of the qualifications must be that they are not connected to any of the grand families but to help keep yx alive, ywy had his men spread the news about the 3 candidates so they were approached by the nobles to influence them and king found out and decided to keep yx alive..with yx being the official yan bei heir, it will deter the nobles from openly competing for yan bei which is why they resorted to secret assasinations, with wei shuyou beingnthe stupidest of them all and yuwen huai the smartest by using him

    • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

I thought King Wei didn’t kill YX because his mother gave up her life in exchange for his. There’s past history between the King and YX’s mother. In addition to that, YWY and Chun Er helped to keep YX alive. The eunuch told King Wei that YX can help to stabilize the royal families from fighting.

It was stupid, but King Wei also left the doors open for anyone to assasinate YX. It just didn’t work out.

  5. 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

Hello does anyone know how many viewers do we have for PA? I remembered that it made quite a statistic the first couple of weeks. As a fan of LY, I hope she has great viewers. Off topic here now, how many viewers did 3L3L had?

    • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

Last I read it broke 20billion views…3l3l has 30billion I think. Ratings wise last week it reached 2.23 I think…Last time a late night drama (10pm is non prime time) broke this was journey of flower two years ago

  6. 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

Denglun will appear tomorrow haha. By the way 3 episodes three nemesis down…yanxun and gang suddenly very efficient. Lol more yue xing couple moments…those are not in the novel…They definitely made him more lover boy…and in great speed.
Sigh yanxun in transition period …Shawn is doing really great justice to the character.

  7. 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

Cannot wait for foxy Prince Deng Lun. He just likes to get beat up. HAHAHAHA.

    • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

LOL I am really looking forward to this, I think we need some more fun injected. (Have to say PA does a great job with the action and comedy. It never feels redundant and unnecessary.)

  8. 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

Deng Lun’s character is finally going to make an appearance? Maybe I’ll tune in again

  9. 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

    Hi all,
I finally caught up with the episodes (except for today episodes) and this drama had taken over 95% of my brain…so I decided to join in the discussion to relieve my mind a bit lol…I really enjoy reading many of your comments and it brings some enlightenment to what is happening in the plot and characters. Can I first say that I am a bit obsessive with Yan Xun’s character (also Shawn) even though I know I am on a sinking ship (with him going bad later). I think one of the main reason is that Shawn did such an excellent job portraying YX in the beginning. (I started watching this drama for ZLY but so glad I discovered Shawn 🙂 He didn’t appear too often at first but every time I see him on screen, he make me happy because of his sun shine appearance. To me, he gave off a sense of innocence even though he know he is in a rather dangerous situation, he still manage to make fun of his best friend, be kind to slaves, and have his own sanctuary to hold on to his dream of going back home. That’s way it is sooooo sad that YX is gone forever. All we see now is a gloomy and deceiving YX who is bent on revenge with all happiness drained out of him. Sigh… From this point on, I don’t think I will see the outward emotional YX anymore :(but all his emotion will be in his eyes bottled up…That’s why even if he becomes bad later on, I may not agree or like his doing or personality…I will not hate him or be angry with him…because I probably will only pity him and regret that he could have been a whole different person if not for the horrific action of others…

Now onto a different topic…I have not read anything about Deng Lun’s character but is he important to the plot in anyway? We are already more than half way through the drama and I don’t understand why we are bringing in a new love interest for CQ? If we need to see another prince fall for CQ, we have already seen this happen twice already. Honestly, I prefer seeing CQ and XY more to show their strong bond which will make the parting more painful later on or YWY with XE to advance their relationship further. I didn’t read the novel so I don’t know how important is Deng Lun’s character but for the drama I feel they should focus more on what they have right now…seems like there can be more developing with existing characters than start introducing new characters like CQ regaining her past identity…Anyway, I’ll stop with my ranting now…and back to watching lol

    • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

Deng Lun is kinda like CQ best friend. He does a lot for her, and even though he falls for her, he never confides and goes after her because he felt his love cannot compare to YanXun. He is a pivotal character so I don’t think they can leave him out.

Another pivotal character will be He Xiao – him and the Siu Li Army are my favourites too in the novel. They go through a lot together and their loyalty to CQ knows no bounds.

      • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

oops..cannot compare to Yuwen Yue, not Yanxun.

        • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

Cool…that clarifies it for me…it is so true that CQ does not have a good friend by her side…now I am looking forward to his character…also the other characters you mentioned I am very excited about because I want CQ to start having her bunch of loyal comrade already…sounds like there are sooo much more plot but there are not enough time to delivery 😯

  10. 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

Oh my god… Why so many people shipping YWY and CQ? Am I the only one shipping YX and CQ?

    • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

Lol…you are not the only one…I think majority of the audience ship YWY and CQ because they are the main OTP and they have all the necessary element to be ship because of the portrayal from the drama… Honestly, they are very shippable (is that even a word lol) but i am just not on that ship…I enjoy watching YX and CQ more and hope for more meaningful scenes between them…

      • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

LOL, this feels like Flower ver 2.0; everywhere else people were worshipping Shifu & waiting for that damn kiss (which eventually got cut), and here the majority were rooting for either Dong Fang or Sha Jiejie. Sore losers y’all, never learn from your mistakes!:))))

Anyway, the new Yan Xun, his coldness sends chill down my spine, because you can also feel how much rage he has inside. (That’s how good Shawn’s acting is, IMO).

        • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

They should show more yx and cq so that the separation will be more poignant..the novel hurts because of the fact that they could have ended happily together..if only he had not pushed her away because of his questionable decisions

    • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

Lol. Poppy, if you read the recaps, majority here is shipping chu qiao with yan xun, they have more meaningful interactions and story while yue is cute…..and cute….but nothing that is memorable and every thing is based on his feelings so far, not hers.

      • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

Yea, that’s what I think too. I’m hoping that they will change the ending of the novel to YX marrying CQ instead of YWY. But I know it’s impossible anyway…

        • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

That’s why every single scenes they have together is precious to me 😄 Maybe we can at least get to see a fan made video with them getting married lol

    • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

You are definitely not. Especially now that YX has matured and CQ has warmed up to him, I really can’t help but ship them, even though they’re fated to have a horrible ending. 🙁

  11. 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

The problem with this show is the missing loveline from cq’s point of view..the show is pushing for cq and ywy when cq at this point would be all yx..everything she is doing right now including hanging with the army is all for him to gather intelligence and an army so they can follow their dream of yan bei..the story will be much better because it will explain the pain when cq leaves yx because the dream of yan bei they had became different when he turned too ambitious and thus understandable when she sees ywy as being more in line wih her dream of an equal future

    • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

She spent 3 whole yrs with yx for god’s sake..dont tell me there’s nothing to that for a girl..esp with such a good looking man

      • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

And in those almost 3 yrs, she hasnt seen ywy!! Hellooo

        • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

lol… I know right… I think YWY is a pretty handsome guy but there is something about YX that is very very attractive to me personally. If I am CQ, I would have taken advantage of him already…hehe 🙂 Never mind that he will become a baddie later on, he is all mine right now! hahaha

  12. 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

As for princess chun er, she just became more stupid..this girl is in denial..the yx who spoils her silly since she was a kid is dead, replaced by a yx who hates her..he never hid his feelings from her, then (when he was still sunny) and now (post family annihilation)..the pain that will happen to her, she is asking for it

  13. 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

Here’s a review of the novel that i found : Uggghhh, Yan Xun why, whyyyyy, whyyyyyyyy must you turn to the dark side! Okay, I know and understand (though I don’t approve of the reasons) the reasoning behind his actions, but boy did he made me both mad and upset for him. Chu Qiao was with him when he had nothing, when he could have died at any moment, yet he never completely trusted her. He doubted her, when he should have known that she of all people would never betray him. But noooooo, he must push her further and further away until she finally couldn’t take it anymore, and left him. That’s right, folks-who-didn’t-read-the-book-and-ignored-my-warning, Chu Qiao doesn’t end up with him. There was a foreboding foreshadowing near the beginning of novel that hinted that they were not going to end up together. I tried to ignore it, because I originally shipped them, but in the end, the warning came true.

He is one of the major reasons I left this book with heavy feelings, despite loving the guy she ends up with, Zhuge Yue. I could never really hate him, I’m just frustrated with him, as well as pity him. The pity comes from the fact that Chu Qiao could have really ended up with him. She accepted quite a few of his horrendous actions (a bit too quickly in fact, which made me sometimes believe, she was partly responsible for how he turned out the way he did), but he never stopped stabbing at the faith she had for him. The very moment he decided to use her to get to Zhuge Yue, was the final straw for her and me. I had already gave up on the ship the moment he left his people to die at Yan Bei to fight Xia. That action should be more impactful, and don’t get me wrong, it was, but for some reason, it didn’t hurt me or Chu Qiao as much as the moment he used Chu Qiao as bait. Maybe it’s because he eventually came back when he received the news that Chu Qiao refuse to leave and let Yan Bei fall. Or maybe it’s because all his actions added up together led to this one being unacceptable.

Despite jumping ships, the author never stopped twisting the dagger she placed in my heart. It was so much more painful knowing how happy they could have been together if he had trusted her and listened to her reasonable pleas. In the end, he not only got back his fiefdom, he also managed to make his own country (I think he got some of it or all of the land from Xia, the facts are a bit fuzzy), but he was never truly happy. Before she (the concubine) found out, fought and destroyed her face, Yan Xun made a maid at his palace his favorite concubine, despite everyone being against it, all because she resembled Chu Qiao. Yan Xun might not have thought he was unhappy, but towards the end, he met Chu Qiao again after many years. When he turned his back to her and walked away, her name was being repeated in his mind over and over. He comforted himself, saying that she was just another woman, which can’t be compared to an entire kingdom. However the pain was there. Yan Xun lost the girl.

    • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

Thanks for the info I knew there must be more to it than just Yan Xun hell bent on revenge. There must be other actions that he took which really made Chu Qiao leave and never return. I really hope the drama does well on these parts, because their relationship is such a pivotal part of the story. However so far from what I see it just seems like the drama is shoving the OTP down our throats lol

      • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

Yup they are pushing it too much to the point of making cq just being a loyalist of yx who doesnt have anywhere to go when she clearly chose to be with him for yrs..it should be focused so we will feel the story when she leaves him

      • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

there were other actions besides making CQ go after YWY that indicated that YX became dark.

In the novel YX orchestrated 3 major families’s death & ordered his army to hunt down the last surviving family member…a 4 year of boy. YX also slaughter people (generals and soldiers) that supported him in his quest to return to Yan Bei and make Yan Bei his. He also killed his last surviving family member, his baby sister that went to war and fought for him. Then he went after CQ and placed her in a situation that I personally felt was despicable. He knew CQ’s weak points and used that placing her in a situation that she had to protect innocent civilians while escaping from his army. He revealed her escape route to another country’s army, the same army that she had defeated when she was fighting as YX’s general.

So she was essentially trying to protect civilians and had to fight another country’s army. Then coming from her back was YX and his army. So either she surrender to YX or she surrendered to another country’s army or she dies in battle with either side. When I read CQ’s situation and the devastation she felt in that scene…I just…anyway I really hope that this scene is portrayed in the drama…it has to…I felt it was a pivotal scene in CQ / YX’s relationship.

The massage of the rabbit was clearly his way of saying – “stay away from me ,you will always be the murderer’s daughter. “because from that day onward anything bad he will do to her emphasized it.That gentle rabbit was originally meant for his kind mother but she capriciously took it as hers. Her mother, Concubine Wei killed it when it seemly bite her hand, just like when her father the Emperor, killed his whole family seemly, that his father will rebel.
He had from the very beginning told her bluntly, as nicely as possible that it was painful to see her anymore as his powerless position now was all due to her father and her helping him ungrateful as it seemed was emphasizing that hurtful point . .After the poisoned snack incident her face is both a Pain and Toxic.
The gift of the dead pet was his last warning ,my consideration of you is dead ,you will always be the murderer’s daughter..

I jumped ship. Something is wrong with me. Send help.
I loved Yan Xun and still do even when he completely changed. His eyes are so cold and soulless….it’s great. I’m starting to like Shawn as an actor. I adore Chu Qiao and Yan Xun relationship at first but as I’m watching this show, I can finally understand Yuwen Yue’s love for her. I found Yuwen Yue character really boring and cowardly in the beginning but as he finally break out of his shell, I can finally understand why they are the main couple. YWY loves CQ with all he have and is willing to go against the world to protect her. Throughout the story, he does things for her and protect her the best he could whether or not he have the power to….even when he can’t he would find a way (like in the beginning having Yan Xun rescuing CQ when he physically can’t go). No matter of his status or power, YWY puts CQ first even before himself.
While YX, as much as I love him and love the couple, I can see how cowardly he grew. In the beginning when he still have power and status, he was openingly able to protect CQ. But now that he have nothing, he became useless and couldn’t even protect her. He feel bad yes and keep saying that one day when he get power, he will be able to protect her. But buddy, she needs you now and many times in between, not in the future. Don’t use that as an excuse. I just feel like to him, gaining power and revenge comes first with the promise of a bright future even if that means letting CQ suffers. Come on buddy, I had high hopes on you but I think I finally understand why you lose. Yuwen Yue would never let his love suffer even for a moment while you, yes you Yan Xun is full of excuses and empty promise to cover up your ambition. I guess if I feel this way I might be watching the drama and understanding the story correctly. I still can’t hate you though Yan Xun, but you don’t deserve Chu Qiao. 😅

Both men have different situations though. You said so yourself, yan xun is powerless and useless, yue was never in that position of having no power and no people. He hasnt had everything ripped from his life and rendered literally useless.

Different paths lead to different choices. Yan Xun has yan bei and people and blood on him. Revenge has to be first place and it should be. Who knows what yue would become if the same thing happens to him? Yue has nothing to lose, even his grandpa comes and goes when needed by the plot. He left for three years without caring about the old man. Lol.

Ultimately, yue is a lover boy, yan xun is not, at least not anymore. One will get the girl, the other his kingdom.

What are you talking about?! Even in prison and recovering from arrows, yx cut out his finger for her? Did you forget that? Cq even have to backhug him to convince yx not to leave the manor for meds when she got hurt cause leaving the manor will be a crime. You forgot that too?

    • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

I agree. YWY really haven’t lose everything and become useless to really compare to YX. Different path do leads to different choices though their “duty” is still the same. Yan Xun wants revenge and Yanbei while Yuwen Yue do still have his duty to the Eye of God and The empire. The difference his, YX put revenge before CQ while YWY puts CQ before everything including the Eye of God and his own country. How many times have he turned a blind eyes to Yan Xun plot because Chu Qiao is involved and he doesn’t want her to get hurt, even if that means possibly angering the lame paranoid dude in the palace or knowing that Yan Xun plot will eventually destroy his own country?

The cutting of a finger kinda doesn’t count because that was before he really harden his ambition. The moment in jail, he lost everything and was going to die anyway so he would rather save CQ. And I’m not saying his love for her is not genuine. It truly is and that was why I started on their ship….but 3 years of imprisonment and desperation, that love had become an amenity to him instead of his priority. His priority after those 3 years had became revenge and he takes CQ love for granted. That’s what made me lose hope in him (on the matter of love). Different paths leads to different choices and he had chosen revenge over love, which I totally understand him and that is the reason why he lose the girl. Vice Versa Yuwen Yue chose love over duty and that’s why he will get the girl at the end.

      • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

Err……comparing duty is not…on the right scale or weight. Yuwen Yue was liberated when he left eyes of god. He didn’t care at all about the thing or his grandpa and left for three years. His drive for the country is not the same drive that is fueling Yan Xun who lost his family and countrymen. Yue doesn’t care much about this whole fulfilling his duty. Take notice he doesn’t care once he thought Chu Qiao is dead, which means Chu Qiao is the only important thing he really “cares” about. Yan Xun is different, revenge for his family comes first. And why wouldn’t it be?

Can you really put them on the same scale honestly? One has death and blood and loss, one is mainly doing his duty because he doesn’t have anything else to do and was taught to do it. Yue FINALLY found someone he cares about for the first time in his life without being told to, while Yan Xun was raised by a great people and lost them.

Their priorities are different which will lead to different choices and different results. Like Nino said above, one has beauty, one has kingdom. It makes sense why Chu Qiao will ultimately pick Yuwen Yue, but it doesn’t make Yue the better man, I have to add, just the right choice for a woman at the end of the day, which yan xun would have still been had tragedy not struck him and changed him.

When yan xun cut off his finger, that was after his speech with Chu qiao, after he swore to soak ChangAn with blood. That is one of the highlights of the prison and the moment he hardens his revenge plan.

Cutting off a finger won’t kill him but he wanted to do it for Chu Qiao. We can’t lessen what he does for Chu Qiao. In the novel, he doesn’t give up on Chu Qiao until very far in the novel, at one point, he gave up winning a country to go back to save her when he knows she’s in trouble.

Anyone who is watching the drama knows Yue’s duty to Eyes of God is a joke, how could you bring it up without laughing. LOL. The dude loves it when he was freed of it! His duty is NOT on the same scale as Yan Xun’s to his dead and surviving countrymen. So no, they are not the same and can’t be compared.

I’m not on any ship since no feelings from the heroine…. Sigh…..

      • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

But we are only at episode 37, yan xun hasn’t done anything to fail chu qiao yet, even when zhong yu suggests using chu qiao to convince the yan bei troops, he says no to that. and he says chu qiao’s life ranks above all!

unless you’re watching the episodes before us to be jumping from YX ship so early. Lol. i know he turns evil and all but we have to be fair until that moment, he hasn’t done anything (YET).

After watching this week I can only find one thing that annoys the crap out of me (well except the directors love for blurred out backgrounds) and that is Yuwen Yue persisting to call Chu Qiao Xing’er. Am I the only one that find this really offensive? I mean she has told him that it isn’t her name, and also he gave her freedom. Why not start calling her Chu Qiao? (And if someone says that is his nickname for her than I am sorry he gave her the name when she was a slave.=( )

I really want to like Yuwen Yue but no matter how much I try I can’t. I just find him too middle of the road and stuck in this doing without doing.

    • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

I agree i dont get his insistence in calling her xing er

      • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

Cos he is the Moon and she his beloved Star…as in the OST

    • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

Even though I jumped ship, I do get annoyed by that too. He stills call her Xing Er and treats her like a “servant”. Maybe it’s his way of holding on to her and his memories of her. Or maybe he do it on purpose to tease her and get her to really act like herself around him, the strong willed Chu Qiao. He finally get to see her “true self”. I do hope he grows to respect her though and stop trying to be the “boss” to her. It will do him no good. Though if you notice, her words are against him but her actions always become submissive toward him. Like when he put the bandage on her injured hand. If it was any other guy, like Xiao Ce he would be sent flying across the globe already lol.

      • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

Maybe because she knows she cant send him flying across the globe hahaha..

    • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

Maybe he though YX gave her the CQ name? So, he wants to keep XE.

YWY is a man of his time. The modern equivalent is the overbearing CEO type in idol dramas. If you’re an independent modern woman, you will likely find him presumptuous. He seems to like to decide and do what he thinks is best for CQ without asking CQ. He may have ‘CEO complex’, having so many subordinates around him to order around?
YX is definitely a much nicer man in many ways. Especially before his family tragedy. Such a man must have been really hard to find in that time frame though. A nice aristocratic man is possible in that era. A super nice prince who is loyal only to a single lady, and nice to the point that he’d cut his own finger and stuff. I’m more skeptical about that. Even in modern time, I still hear and see a lot of men stealing female colleagues’ credits at work. Blame the latter group for mistakes that the men made. Lots of successful businessmen with mistress collections. It’s a world apart from a YX from thousands of years ago. But I still like watching YX in PA so far.

Well way to go for ZLY nude make up, very pretty, and very good hair style at last. The one hair strand was good but this one is even better. They probably saved it all along till this time come so they made her so plain at the beginning on purpose. But I dislike the big eyelid and eye shadow, it looks like way too many folds. I can see Miss. Yu has the same eye style too. Just now I saw YM magazine, and her eyelid is also so big. Hopefully huge eye lids are not becoming a new trend, I didn’t think it would be annoying but they’re just so noticeable.

Recently the backgrounds are getting weird. If I can paste in my own background I would like to choose those rich color and beautiful trees, the editors were quite smart not to do the bright color like (me) everyone else and use something realistic but it’s sad that the outline of people being cut and paste into the background wasn’t that good, otherwise the duller color was a great idea. At this point, I really believe the story is so not going to end at ep. 60+ and they are planning for a sequel because nothing really happened at all, how are they going to squeeze in 20 ep. for many things to happen?

    • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

I doubt it will be 60+, all we got left is yx’ escape and rebellion now

    • 83 thoughts on “Princess Agents Discussion Post Week 5: Episodes 33 – 40

Or maybe if they will remember cq’s tattoo and past and what concubine lan knows and such, we’ll have 60+ eps..maybe they will time skip like the 3 yrs too

How come nobody from CQ’s organization is looking for her? And what is feng yun lin?

They thought she was dead and it seems only a few know who the wind and cloud decree is
