Synopsis: In Legend of the Ancient Sword, which takes place during the Tang Dynasty, young martial artist Baili Tusu (Li Yi Feng) feels a mysterious aura in him that can be suppressed only with the Sword of Burning Solitude. When fighting bandits, he meets Ouyang Shaogong (Qiao Zhenyu) and Fang Lansheng (Ma Tianyu), who are on a quest to find a jade ornament that will help them create a resurrection elixir. Tusu decides to join them on their adventure, hoping that the elixir will be able to awaken his slumbering mother. During their trip, he meets Feng Qingxue (Yang Mi), an immortal who has come to earth to look for her brother. ma tian yu is under fire for saying he wants to protect zheng shuang at the recent conference. poor kid. looks like he has a crush on her but zhang han still calls her his fairy. ajajajaja love triangle!

Thanks for taking on this project. Unfortunately, I am having difficulties playing these episodes on VLC player as it tells me “VLC does not support the audio or video format ‘undf’. Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this.” Is anyone else having the same problem? I’ve downloaded the episode fully and it can’t be played in other devices either (Windows media player, Windows media classic, etc.) If anyone has a solution, please post it here. Thanks in advance!
Millie, have you tried updating your VLC player and installed latest k-lite codec pack?
i have always use GOM player and it played these episodes fine. gom player never fails. =)

I have the same problem with Media Player Classic. I just updated to the latest version of K-Lite Codec Pack (Full) a few days ago.
i have the same problem i downloaded MPC latest version but can’t be played and on VLC the sound is really low have to put it to 200% to hear something.

I’m actually surprised by the tone of this drama so far. Based on the colorful stills and wacky hairstyles, I thought it would be silly, but everyone is quite serious so far, peppered here and there with bromance moments between the guys. Can’t wait for the lovely ladies. 😉
While everything looks very colorful and pretty (it’s based on a RPG game, after all :D), the story is actually quite serious and kinda sad in places (OMG I’m still not over what happens to some of the characters) but the story is really good. The characters are interesting and all have interconnected pasts/backgrounds and it’s a long series (50 eps!), so lots of stuff is gonna happen…
I’ve been waiting for this series to come out ever since I heard about them adapting it into a drama, so I’m really excited to see it! Great 4 eps so far, can’t wait to find out what happens! Thanks for posting this! 😀

Just finished watching episode 4 and my favorite character has to be big disciple brother–he is so caring and noble and good looking. Looking forward to when Ma Tianyu makes his appearance.

Alrighty drifters, I have a question for you guys….
The clean source is out for Legend. No logo and full 45 minutes. I’m unsure whether I should do that version because we have gone so far together with Hunan version. Has anyone compared the two versions (one on youtube/viki being subbed and the Hunan/my version to see if there’s cut scene?) If they didn’t cut any, then the need to redo is critically lowered. Please let me know!
I’ll check both versions of 21-24 this weekend and let you know if someone else doesn’t get to it before me ^^

I skimmed through the Viki/YT version of GJTQ and my feeling is that both versions are good and without noticeable cut scenes.
–The Viki version is behind our version by 30 minutes. I’m guessing it can be attributed to the opening and closing theme songs taking up 4.5 minutes for each episode.
–Our version has some repeat scenes, usually to ease transition from one episode to the next. The Viki version might do the same for other episodes but I haven’t observed this in ep. 21-24.
My take is that it’s better to just continue using the current version because the small advantage to the Viki version (mainly lack of logo) isn’t worth all the extra work of re-uploading when we’re halfway through the series. Hope this helps!

Holy crap there’s a clean source for this series? (I’m so out of the loop I’ve only seen up to ep 16 since semester started!) I wonder how different it is to the Hunan version? IIRC some of the Hunan eps were only about half an hour long instead of the normal 45 mins…?

Hunan TV version will probably be longer in episode counts (50eps+) to make up for the shorter episode lengths (~35mins).
Clean source – no logo, full 45, just hardsubbed chinese subs. 🙂
Personal preference, but I’d love to see a clean source version because I find logos very distracting when I’m watching something. Chinese hardsubs are fine because they come with the series anyway and are very helpful.
It’ll be nice to see the eps at all the same length instead of the strange cuts they have with some 30 mins and some longer. I feel like they cut the eps at strange places in some parts because you can see that the story is about to transition to a connected scene that would normally be there if it weren’t for the weird 30 min cutoff…

Can’t believe there’s only 2 weeks left! I’ll miss this show but at least there’s Da Mo Yao to look forward to. William Chan for appetizer and then Eddie Peng for main course. Who will be dessert?
