Guys what did you think? Is it worth watching? I literally haven’t considered watching any of it at all, but wanted to know the verdict on it.

I watched the first 12 eps on qq and youku. Then regional restriction kicked in. The drama didn’t grab me enough to track it down to continue. Seemed to be a popular on DramaFever though.

In my opinion, if you’re looking for a period fantasy drama heavily relying on romance with lots of romantic scenes between the OTP to make you squeal then this drama is not for you. The main lead (even though there are romantic scenes) is not so much but I like the political intrigue and that the main hero and heroine are righteous people doing the right thing and making rational decisions. Since the beginning of the story, the hero is a wise prince and our heroine is a smart woman who loyally serves the royal family. And in between their love for each other, they have one mutual goal that is to save the Great Wei (country) and the hero falls for her because of how rightous (and pretty) she is. It’s just my opinion. I hope I provide a little bit of insight for you. I love this drama.

Acting was extremely mediocre save the 2nd lead and chemistry is well…. nonexistent. My dog spending five minutes with his favorite bone has more chemistry than William and LSS in an entire 56 episodes. Besides that the story was quite alright and overall well put together, minus weird pacing at certain parts. It’s not terrible in ways that warrants much criticism, just nothing to write home about either. Unless you want to talk about pretty CGI magical butterflies, or historical runway fashion LSS’s character sports as flavor of the week

Save yourself 56 hours of your life unless you are out of Chinese fantasy/historical/romance to watch, and is a William Chan diehard. Aaand I’ll stop here

Chemistry between actors is subjective, I like them together. Overall I enjoyed it, I would rate it 8/10. I saw much worse drama like General and I, but still many people loved it.
Opinions are personal, so everyone should watch it to form their own opinion

I think the series was pretty decent, it won’t be written as a favourite, but I tolerated it enough to not drop it. As a Liu Shi Shi fan, I can start everything she’s in, but there are no guarantees I finish everything. For chemistry I think it was there, but people have different views on what is good chemistry.
It’s a series I’d say watch if you have time, but I guess it’s not an urgent priority.
It’s 56 episodes, but since the second aired episode, is generally 10-20 minutes shorter, it’s not as long as you would imagine.

LOL same question, was this worth it? Haven’t got time to check out the ending. But if anyone survived Princess Agents then this one is nothing, should be easy to go through it.
The mid-beginning was not too bad, but it got a little boring in the middle and I’m predicitng the ending will be boring as well. Yeah at least CGI was real good, and music was not amazing but decent.

Eh, not as good as I expected. Much better than TKW though lol

It was a happy ending, which is rare in fantasy dramas nowadays.

The show started promising, but I felt that it sputtered out in the end. The world building were not well thought out or explained. They keep on mentioning that she had to go back (to the first timeline I’m guessing), but if she goes back to the first timeline, does the the event of the first timeline changes to reflect what happened in the 2nd timeline? The rules for her “life flower” dying was also unclear. Whose dying will causes a petal to fall? Is it people who “destiny” was changed due to her messing with time? Overall, it just wasn’t well thought out. I didn’t quite understanding the ending either. Did she just stayed in the 2nd timeline?

What people labeled as “chemistry” often comes down to the writing. There’s a reason why the love/hate relationship model get used so often. The will they, won’t they tug and pull helps to generate tension and get the audience excited waiting for the couple to get together. Because the romance in this series was, IMO, more on the mature side where the leads acknowledged their feelings pretty much straight away and deal with their problems in a more adult manner, the chemistry weren’t going to be explosive. These two spent more time dealing with external conflicts rather than bicker about their relationship. In saying that, some actors have sparks, other don’t. LSS and William didn’t have much spark together so without the help from the writing, their chemistry was lacklustre. They did have some lovely moments together, but those were rare.

I thought the production values were great and I appreciate the darker colour palette. I also really like the costumes. LSS have some lovely dresses, except the Twinky Winky dress her costumes were very opulence and eyes catching. The fighting choreography was also excellent. It just a shame that the story line just felt so lethargic; they could have done a lot more with the second lead. Overall, a rather tepid result from what could have been a promising story.

I really love this drama – a mixture of fantasy/fighting/romance.I love the actors and actresses especially William Chan and Liu Shi Shi- they are my favorites. Hope very much that there will be more of them together in the same dramas. Longing to watch them together. Here I must also praise the director and all those behind the scene for their effort in making this drama a perfection. I was really hooked to it; had been watching every night for a few episodes till 4 – 5 am!!! I will miss it very much now that I have watched the whole drama; will watch all over again definitely!

What do you think?
