First Posters for The King’s Woman with Zhang Bin Bin and Dilraba Dilmurat

She ends her love with one man, and starts with another man! Lol. I’m sure she will reunite with Vengo in another drama, but this production is what I need for all my Pretty Li Hui Zhen feelings.

More on the story (novel): Everyone’s lovable K.O aka Vin Zhang Bin Bin will play Qin Shi Huang (born as Ying Zheng.). In the novel, our heroine, Gong Sun Li (Dilraba Dilmurat), is the grand-daughter and disciple of military commander Gong Sun Yu. Jing Ke (first disciple, played by Liu Chang) and Sun Li are childhood lovers and were forced to escape when Qin troops attacked. However, Sun Li’s wall-shattering beauty seizes the interest of the Qin Emperor, Ying Zheng (Zhang Bin Bing), and she’s captured and sent to his palace. It’s then that she discovers she’s pregnant with Jing Ke’s child (Tian Ming). Ying Zheng treats him as if he’s his own child. The tragic day arrives when Jing Ke tries to assassinate Ying Zheng and dies trying. Sun Li (known then as Li Ji) also succumbs on the same day, leaving orphan Tian Ming to escape the palace with Han Shen, Jing Ke’s good friend.

i wonder if netizens will be bothered by this o.o

Why not? She is a decent actress. And we’ve had our fair share of Korean actors star in historical costume dramas too.

I’m pretty sure she means that it will somehow “contradict” because Dilriba is of Uyghur descent and the Qin fought to get nomadic groups out of the empire. The Great Wall was constructed against the raids and invasions of Xiongnu’s.. So it might be strange to some Chinese viewers to watch an Uyghur (Turkish) girl play a role of someone from the Qin dynasty? Idk..

But I haven’t seen C-netizens on Weibo mentioning it.. So I think they are okay with it :).

Haha, probably History Bluffs would find it strange, let’s be honest. It’s visual + script that will probably we judge more 😛

I see what you mean, Bwear. Wish Emmie had elaborated more on that given the recent racist comments on here. That one sentence looked like it was a bait.

Why not, last time i check she is a citizen of China, went to a Chinese film school, and works for a Chinese agency.

      As for historical accuracy,

First of all, this is a drama, the actors are playing a character nit themselves.

Second, China and Chinese back then and in many ways still is primarily defined by its culture rather than its race. After the fall of Persia to the Arabs, many Sassanid nobles and princes moved to China and treated no different than any other Chinese as they adopted Chinese culture and costoms. A few even archieved high ranking positions via the examination system.

Third, even if race is a thing. Win itself is the on western edge of the huaxia realm, its land was conquered from Xirong whom itself was conquered from Western Zhou 500 year before. (Which is why Zhou king bestowed so land to Qin, because he doesn’t control them anyways) It not inconceivable there are caucasian looking people in China or some mix of them . Li Ji is actually from Kingdom of Wei, but the arguement still stands, It really a myth that China is very isolated or monolothis back in Ancient times as it was just as diverse it is today, perhaps even more so due to long term effect of intermarriages.

Hull…they are cute and pretty can’t deny that. Dang it Vengao/Dil are still my #1 (≧∀≦)
But I cant really like ZBBs character after watchi Qins Moons animation…his character is really too selfish and cruel, it would’ve been better to sight in a differnet unvierse, but in real life and in Qins Moons, he’s not really the greatest nor friendliest ruler to be around LOL

Pretty excited about this one. Pretty people, decent sounding plot.

    Great job, thank you Kappy.

And I am really annoyed since there’s always “someone” making offensive and racist comments on news with regard to Tujue actors/actresses (Dilraba) or singer (Dimash). There are many minority celebs in China and a lot foreign artists are famous in China. If you don’t like them existing in Cdrama or tvshow, please do not pay attention to Chinese entertainment news and shut up.

As a chinese who have minority ancestry and are addicted to these silly and romantic drama, I really like this website with lots of people who have same taste in drama and latest news that I’m interested in. I’ve been happy seeing foreign audience discussing the plots and cute actors because foreign tastes are same as mine however different from major chinese audience, but those who keep posting aggressive and racist are F%cking contemptible and i hope oneday there could be an access restrict aiming at those who are racist.

I am so sorry to say so much unpleasant sh^t for the first time to comment on this great website.

And at last I should say I love all the news and beautiful pic you guys shared and thank you for providing this place!!^_^ let’s make here a better place to enjoy!

Waohh.. Calm down my dear =).

Are you refering to the posts above? I’m sure they were not ill-intentioned nor meant to be offensive and racist to anybody. As I pointed out in my post above, Emmie probably tried to refer or make a link to the fact that some Chinese audience MIGHT feel strange or bothered that an actress of Uyghur/Turkish descent will be playing someone from the Qin dynasty, considering the historical relationship between Xiongnu and the Qin. Remember the history bluffs making a big fuss out of The Melody of the Desert starring Liu Shishi and Eddie Peng, because the main character (Han general) fell in love with a Xiongnu girl?

For example, if we have a Japanese actress playing a Nanjing girl set against the backdrop of the Second Sino-Japanese war, people might wonder as well whether Chinese audience (NOT US!) will be bothered by that or not. But as I’ve said earlier, I haven’t seen Chinese netizens mentioning it so far, I’m sure they are okay with it. I personally don’t have any problem with it either. I’m happy with the casting. Dilriba is a cute girl. But personally, I wish for a Dilriba-Vengo reunion more than a Dilriba-Bin Bin reunion at this moment lol.

Thank you for. replying. Maybe i was too sensitive cuz its not my first time to see comments complaining or doubting the ancestry of actress and Raba is one of my fav actress. I’m sorry to put negative comment…
However, the reason why netizens didn’t like Desert drama is because the author discredited the national hero and author’s fans even changed the chinese ver wikipedia based on her irresponsible remarks, etc.
And in Qin dynasty, there were also Khwārazam living the the previous land of Qin state(in Warring states period), as we known, the second male lead Yiqujun in Legend of Miyue is a Khwārazam who supposed to have a uygur look. So my bae Dilraba’s pretty look is reasonable.<333
With a bit Khwārazam ancestry, I got enough of stupid chinese netizens saying "minority people look strange in Hanfu"….
My Raba can play various roles, wish her the best and im sure she will the best superstar around the world!

Same about the pairing! I definitely LOVE Dilraba and Zhang Bin Bin both, but honestly right after the overwhelming feels of Feng Jiu and Dong Hua, I’d much prefer Dilraba and Vengo reunion! Ahhh I need Pillow Book to happen, but with Dilraba and Vengo as FJ and DH. No others will do anymore. Honestly their relationship and feels felt so much more real and powerful than YH/BQ’s.

Sigh, I really need to start on that novel of mine about the romance between a beautiful daughter of a merchant from Samarkand and a handsome son of a noble Chinese family. I initially had Dilraba and William Chan in mind after seeing their magazine spread together (which was HOT). But now Zhang Bin Bin seems like a better choice. The King’s Woman may not be my cup of tea, but I’ll probably watch it (or give an episode or two) just for them! Beautiful and talented people.

  6. 31 thoughts on “First Posters for The King’s Woman with Zhang Bin Bin and Dilraba Dilmurat

Do you think they are going to follow the novel? Also the little baby looks like the one from Eternal Love unless that’s just me?

  7. 31 thoughts on “First Posters for The King’s Woman with Zhang Bin Bin and Dilraba Dilmurat

These two are my current favorite hot young C-pairing. I like Dilraba a lot and Zhang Bin Bin is quickly becoming a favorite of mine, truly hope their amazing chemistry shines here again and though I don’t know much about the story I truly hope this becomes another great historical romance <3 Totallly looking forward to this!

  8. 31 thoughts on “First Posters for The King’s Woman with Zhang Bin Bin and Dilraba Dilmurat

Is this Zhang Bin Bin’s first male lead role?. I thk we already know he has good chemistry with Dilraba.
But the plot sounds vy dramatic and the deaths are confirmed? Thk this drama isnt for me

    • 31 thoughts on “First Posters for The King’s Woman with Zhang Bin Bin and Dilraba Dilmurat

      First lead lead. Yes. 🙂

Deaths are not confirmed. Dramas tend to change a lot of things. I remain hopeful!

      • 31 thoughts on “First Posters for The King’s Woman with Zhang Bin Bin and Dilraba Dilmurat

wasn’t he the male lead in Long Time No See, Back in time? i remember watching him there. But yeah, i dont think that drama was a hit, hehe.

And omonaaaa… he’s only 25 y.o this year?? born in 93. Ah.. young and talented. I thought he’s born in 80 something, hehe…

        • 31 thoughts on “First Posters for The King’s Woman with Zhang Bin Bin and Dilraba Dilmurat

          sorry. i mean 92. 😀

        • 31 thoughts on “First Posters for The King’s Woman with Zhang Bin Bin and Dilraba Dilmurat

I should clarify in a primetime tv drama, not including webdramas like Back in Time.

Yep, 90s baby… though he looks older than his age. Lol.

        • 31 thoughts on “First Posters for The King’s Woman with Zhang Bin Bin and Dilraba Dilmurat

He’s actually born in 1993 and just turned 24. Dilraba is 1992 and is his senior!

He does look older than his age. He said in an interview recently that he has to show ID to prove his age because people often think he is 30 lmao! Poor guy!

I’m so excited to see him in his first proper lead role too. I hope the drama does well.

      • 31 thoughts on “First Posters for The King’s Woman with Zhang Bin Bin and Dilraba Dilmurat

He’s so charismatic on screen. il be hopeful too. and he does look more mature than his age suggest

    • 31 thoughts on “First Posters for The King’s Woman with Zhang Bin Bin and Dilraba Dilmurat

ZBB and Dilraba are definitely a chemistry-laden pair! So excited and I anticipate the heartbroken puppy look that ZBB excels at. They already showed great sparks in 3L3W (that scene when Dilraba was crying like crazy and bumped into ZBB who was staring at the cave he used to live in and they had a little spat.) I can only imagine that trend will follow in this new drama (gush.)

I only hope that Dilraba won’t abandon ZBB in the drama since they make such a cute pairing.

  9. 31 thoughts on “First Posters for The King’s Woman with Zhang Bin Bin and Dilraba Dilmurat

Thank you for posting. Awww…those pictures with their son are too cute.

They both look gorgeous! I am so excited to see ZBB and Dilraba starring together. I really like them both as actors and they have intense chemistry together so I can’t wait to see them together as the protagonists and main couple.

The plot sounds intriguing. I think Ying Zheng will be an interesting character to explore especially in his early years before he became a tyrant. Apparently there have been quite a few changes from the source novel but I think it will inevitably be a sad ending because historically there is no record of Ying Zheng having an empress.

I really hope it will be subbed.

    • 31 thoughts on “First Posters for The King’s Woman with Zhang Bin Bin and Dilraba Dilmurat

I did a double look at Ying Zheng not having an empress historically.. I never did know that! I have read about his history but I never did notice the fact that he did not appoint an empress. So surprised at this fact!

      • 31 thoughts on “First Posters for The King’s Woman with Zhang Bin Bin and Dilraba Dilmurat

I’m not sure if this is correct as I’m no Chinese history expert but I read he’s the only Emperor to never name an Empress/Queen. He became emperor very young at 13 and didn’t start ruling until 22 so he had plenty of time to choose one but there’s no record of a Empress/Queen/wives/primary wife ever and a lot of his children seemed to be born later on in life so it’s definitely an intriguing blank canvas for a story about tragic romance in his youth.

It appears the drama version is going to focus a lot more on Ying Zheng than the novel where he was more of a tertiary character.

        • 31 thoughts on “First Posters for The King’s Woman with Zhang Bin Bin and Dilraba Dilmurat

Yeah I went and search and he did not appoint any Empress! But he has loads of children haha!
Ying Zheng is definitely a very interesting character that the writers can dig a lot about; Lu BuWei, his mother, LaoAi, the various major stages of his life when he was on the run, when LBW held power and how he became the Emperor that ruled China as one. Im glad the production team decide to make him more of a central character, it would be interesting.

I like that they were cute and adorable in PLHZ and now hot and angsty in this one! Different vibes and I know he can brood! heeeheee~!~!

  10. 31 thoughts on “First Posters for The King’s Woman with Zhang Bin Bin and Dilraba Dilmurat

Ughhhh what a beautiful family ❤️ Well since I cant choose between Gao Wei Guang or Zhang Bin Bin, I will always support Dilraba with both of them LOL

  11. 31 thoughts on “First Posters for The King’s Woman with Zhang Bin Bin and Dilraba Dilmurat

I liked them a lot in Pretty but seems a bit too soon to pair them up again. I do like Dilraba but I like to see ZBB’s hotness spread around to other ladies first before coming back to them again. I don’t think I’ve noticed this with other talent agencies but with Yang Mi and her crew, seems like her group are stuck with each other a lot.

Pretty was the first thing I saw ZBB in and became an instant fan. I was looking up his older stuff to find something to watch cause Eternal Love was such a big disappointment and what do you know, he’s in something called V-Love with the whole Yang Mi team again. Had to quit after a few episodes cause it was sooo bad and ZBB’s character kind of sucks. I didn’t want to ruin my image of him with such a drippy character.

Going to start Invisible Wings, anyone seen it? Or any recommendations on ZBB’s dramas? Kinda looking for modern because I’m burned out on wuxia/xianxia or historical period pieces.
