New voice! A Yun Ga (阿云嘎), a graduate from Beijing Dance Academy (in the musical department), 2014 Champion of Super Mr., and a runner-up for many singer shows including Rising Star, is chosen to sing the themesong for the remake of Border Town Prodigal, the first part of the Flying Dagger trilogy written by Gu Long. I love it when they step out of the usual pot of themesong singers and give a new voice a chance to shine! And I kinda love this song! His voice sounds surprisingly very old-schooled. I don’t think that’s the right word… but in any case, it’s nice! hehe.

After the father was murdered by various martial artists, his wife gave away their son (Ye Kai) and took in Fu Hong Xue as her fake son to protect her real son from harm. Love the song and the voice! I think what you mean is more traditional maybe? Like stylistically, and the song itself seems more classic wuxia than the pseudo-rock-ballad stuff nowadays. Loving the feel. I hope it’s fantastic.
Also, not a fan of Viann, but can’t deny she’s gorgeous. Somehow she does manage to pull of looking sweet and melancholy despite my always associating her with fierce/foxy/sly/evil.

I can’t wait for this drama!!! Been waiting to see Zhu Yi Long as a main lead for a long time now!!!
But the only thing that I don’t understand is Viann’s character… Is she from the original novel? I swear Fu Hong Xue falls in love with a character, but that’s not the name of the character that Viann’s playing… Or am I just misunderstanding the novel…? Lol.

Viann’s character is in the book but she’s not the one he loves. They changed it to her in the drama. Cui Nong (played by Cai Biyun) is the one he loves. Looks to be a love triangle at first but it’s obvious who he picks in the end.

Nice opening theme. In classic Wuxia style too. It seems the world of Wuxia is going old school.
Been saying from the start, 2016 is a huge year for C-drama, especially Wuxia.
This is also coming out along side Chusen. Lots of competition going on this month for sure. So much shows to watch so little time. They should space these release out between each month, not week or day.
It sure give you a lot to blog about though. 😀

Everything in this drama looks and sounds pure nostalgia. The visuals belong to years before now and the music too.
The opening theme fits the drama it belongs to more than the opening theme for Chusen.
I hope it’s good and get good ratings.

and the series also really good to watch, I enjoy it so much, I really interested for Zhu Yi Long now, but maybe he will be more good looking if he gain more weight *just my opinion* 😛
