She Was Pretty (漂亮的她) is a popular 2015 Korean series, now being remade with Dilraba Dilmurat and Peter Sheng Yi Lun as our OTP. Their looks get a switcheroo after they mature and become full-grown adults. She’s no longer the swan in people’s eyes, and he’s no longer the nerdy kid on the block. With a head full of frizzy curls, she’s deemed as unattractive by…..

Synopsis from Wiki: When Sung-Joon (Park Seo-Joon) was young, he was ugly and fat. He also didn’t have any friends, but popular and pretty Hye-Jin (Hwang Jung-Eum) became his friend. She gave him comfort on rainy days when Sung-Jung feels traumatised. They held a special connection with each other, but Sung-Joon and his father moved to the United States. 15 years later, Sung-Joon returns to South Korea. He and Hye-Jin are set to meet again for the first time in many years, but Hye-Jin is unable to show herself in front of Sung-Joon who is looking for her. Both of their appearances have completely changed. Sung-Joon is now handsome and perfect in his appearance, while Hye-Jin looks nothing like her former pretty self. Hye-Jin is also unemployed and looking for a job.
Hye-Jin then asks her best friend Ha-Ri (Koh Joon-Hee) for help. Ha-Ri is to pretend she is Hye-Jin and go meet Sung-Joon. At their meeting, Ha-Ra pretends to be Hye-Jin and tells Sung-Joon that she is leaving for England the next day to study.
Later, Hye-Jin, as an intern at a fashion magazine, meets Sung-Joon who is an editor at the fashion magazine.

Kim Sung Joo truely looks so much like Seo Joon. I hope he does great in the drama. He will most probably will be dubbed. His mandarin is pretty good but not acceptable yet. His real voice is good too, he is the main vocalist of his KPop group.

From the posters of both dramas, Park Seo Joon brings warmth and gentleness to his character, and so far, I haven’t seen anything on that note yet for Peter. But yes, it might be too early. Hoping for the best!
Interested to see how Sung Joo will do since Siwon nailed it out of the ball park. Tough act to follow.

Kinda amusing that freckles are seen as beautiful in the West and ugly by Eastern beauty standards. I have a cousin who is Eurasian and she used to cover her freckles with makeup when she lived in HK, then she went to USA to study and was told that her freckles were nice.

Totally agree! As for someone with naturally pale skin, I’m tellin’ ya, pale skin is REALLY not all that great at all! I get sunburn so easily and I have so many freckles! And pale skin makes me look so pasty. I envy the people with golden, bronze, or even darker skin cuz their skin looks so shiny and much more radiant! AND because it’s darker, any blemishes like freckles, etc. aren’t so easily visible! With pale skin you can’t get away with it, and even worse when it gets splotchy with uneven redness!
And DARK SKINNED BEAUTIES! People need to look at the gorgeousness of Rihanna, Beyonce, JLo, Jessica Alba and their beautiful skin…

I think skin colors and shades being attractive is different in every country. And it’s also a very personal issue.
I’m White Pale and I’m a Latina so my skin is different from the looks of very Pale White from Scandinavia. I love my skin color and shade. In my country White Pale skin is not the most appreciated and most of the time during summer it’s a reason for bullying.

I think that it’s ridiculous that anyone is bullied for their skin color, regardless of pale or dark. Skin color is something we’re born with and the world would be a much happier place if people don’t make such a big deal about skin color. So much hate and discrimination of the world just because of something we’re born with … and to me this is something very sad and tragic

And it’s her dark skin that makes that dress and jewelry look so good in that photo I linked. Put someone with pale skin in that getup and they’d look so washed out (e.g. I could never wear something pretty like that without looking completely washed out)
