I was innocently updating my master list of airing cdramas when a name keeps on appearing in the summer months.
HAWICK LAU.
Mister, I don’t hate you or anything but four dramas in the same period of time is a bit much, no? Excessive amount of anything is the driving force of my hair loss. Lol.
Well, if you want to weed out which one(s) you might not be watching, watch the trailers after the jump!
01. The Cage of Love with Zheng Shuang (Love Weaves Through A Millennium) and Ethan Li (The Ninth Wife). They play star-crossed lovers; she’s the enemy’s daughter and he’s in love with her. Then when her father suddenly dies…he becomes the prime suspect. This is penned by Tong Hua so I can see how fans are drawn to her name like pretty butterflies, as seen in Bu Bu Jing Xin. Airing on May 24th. I am odd so if I ever check this out…it’s for the Ethan.
02. Master of Destiny with his wife’s best friend, Tang Yan (My Sunshine). LAST ONE OKAY, you two. Stop being in the same drama…Lol. But woah, strong female actresses from the previous generation. After his family went bankruptcy and his father committed suicide, his mom (Liza Wang) raised four children on her own. Hawick is the second son. Looks like the siblings aren’t that chummy because his older brother frames him for something and he goes to jail. Losing everything he holds dear, Hawick changes to a completely different person after his imprisonment, becoming more ruthless and dangerous. Airing on May 28th.
03. Twice Blooming Flower with Wang Li Kun (Somewhere Only We Know). A love story between a man who was in a coma for eight years and wakes up with amnesia (hey there kdrama trope!) and a single mom who loves her child more than her life. Airing on June 12th.
04. You Are My Sister with Lou Yi Xiao (The Deer and the Cauldron). Lol, the title doesn’t sound incest-y at all! The story revolves around three sisters and the men in their lives. Looks like a comedy. Airing on June 15th.

OMG, did Hawick even rest? Like Tang Yan this year, he’s such a busy bee this year with filming dramas left and right. i thought he wouldn’t do many dramas since he’s married now and has a daughter. But both Hawick and Yang Mi are back to work.

To be completely accurate, there is gap between the above four dramas. Master of Destiny was filmed in 2013, Sister and Cage were filmed back to back in 2014, and Flower was filmed this year. But I do understand what you mean, they jump constantly to new dramas. Now he has Chronicle of Life with Zheng Shuang.

But you’re right though – diapers and milk don’t come cheap! Plus Yang Mi had year’s break for the baby so Hawick has to step up. It’s similar to how Yan Kuan’s picking up lots of work now cuz he had a hiatus for his wife and daughter, and now it’s back to work…

Yan Kuan is one of my fave Cactors and the projects he’s got lined up are pretty good! Can’t wait to see his version Zhan Zhao! 😀
OMG 花千骨 The Journey of Flower is airing on June 6! The Lost Tomb is scheduled for June 1 (apparently) … I’ve got all my finals in June!!! Are they trying to torture me with temptation??!

LOL I’m in such desperate need for my drama fix, but alas, duty calls and I have to finish the semester before I can even get into my dramas (it’s like a constant fight with myself, trying to stop myself from getting into dramas until my finals are finished)…
There’s so many awesome dramas coming out I suppose at least during semester break I can watch whatever I like 😀

Yang Yang was there in March (click) with William, Zhang Han, and Kris Wu, and in an upcoming one with Divas Hit The Road cast. I think he’s in another one too. Like a frequent visitor. heh.

Haha…. since Tang Yan and Hawick Lau are some of the busiest people in the industry, it is kind of expected they were going to collaborate together again 😛 (ps… heard Chinese actors often bring their kids to A class elementary school in China, which is about 20000 a year…. >< maybe that is why he needs to work so hard)

Looks like in Twice Blooming Flower, both leads had amnesia? Saw the first 2 episodes and liking what I see so far. Will definitely have to read the novel once this drama is over just for comparison’s sake.
