The next Korean actor to break into the Chinese market is Ji Chang Wook of Healer. He will be playing twins in Mr. Right but the production company didn’t really capitalize on that factor to play along. One should’ve been raised in China, and the other one in Korea. Instead, one is a rich business man who is cold on the outside but has a weak soul. Lol. The younger brother is warm, intelligent, and humorous. One incident leads younger brother to sit in the high chair of his older brother, placing him in the receiving end of the heroine’s attention, played by Wang Xiao Chen (Good Time). The love triangle (square?) rounds out with Zhang Dan Feng (The Journey of Flower) as the mysterious and unpredictable man with a streak of vindictive stripe in his nature.

Sigh. Zhang Ling Zhi…so beautiful. She needs her own lead role; even in the upcoming Lie Chang, she’s only ONE of (not even the main one) Hu Ge’s character’s many romantic partners.

She has a supporting role as Huo Jianhua’s sister in Love Me if You Dare. Her real-life husband is Chen Long (General Meng in NIF).

…? Genuinely confused. What does her husband have anything to do with the fact that she needs a lead role in a drama? She’s had plenty of supporting roles. But what I mean is she needs her own lead role.

Just thought you might be interested in tidbits of info about her. Sorry.
It took years and years for many actors to get lead roles. It took Wang Kai a decade. It depends on hard work, timing and luck. For some, luck isn’t on their side even though they have the talent.

Korean stars/directors have really invaded the Chinese film industry. Are they really more popular than local stars? Simon Yam, Cecilia Cheung, Chen Bolin, Tang Wei have filmed in Korean productions, but only in very small trickles. Any chance that Chinese entertainers will flood through the door of Korean dramas for equal opportunity?

Koreans aren’t as obsessed over Chinese stars as Chinese people are over K-pop/Korean stars, so I doubt it.

I dont think koreans are more popular than local stars and neither the chinese have the same opportunity to work in korea like koreans work in china
I dont thing anhy korean act is more popular than a chinese one
Koreans and many kpop fans think china needs more but is a extremely good opportunity forthem because of money and bigger chances to go big globally.

nope anon. Chinese stars make MONEY in their homeland, but not korean stars. Korean stars and other actors from different countries only come to china for the gold mine. korean actors make crap in their own country. the likes of rain and them only make big $$$ in china. lol.
hence, the less incentive to go to korea. so it’s an unfair system of trading, chinese stars get secondary roles in moves but look at korean stars? LEAD ROLES in DRAMAS. even idols like Yoona get lead roles. we’re doomed for more collaborations.
at least ji chang wook can act so we have that on our side. lols.

Yup, I don’t think Koreans care too much for Chinese stars tbh.
Globally, Chinese stars are more famous like Andy Lau and Fan Bing Bing but with the Hallyu Wave, people know more of Kpop and K-entertainment now. I think in some ways China can profit by bringing Korean actors/actresses to the drama to influence to bring words of mouth to say. As for others, I agree they just come for gold mine. I think Jang Nara (whom I adored btw) mentioned that she goes to China for $$$. But it’s a win-win situation in both cases: one get money and other get more recognition.
For example, with Rain’s Diamond Lover, more Koreans drama watchers started tuning in and now know who Tang Yan (or Tiffany Tang). If they love it a lot, they start researching finding others like My Sunshine. Even with Lee Jong Suk’s upcoming Chinese drama, some of my friends even commented saying I never watched Chinese dramas but I’ll watch for oppa. Yeah, it sucks for talented Chinese actors to retaliate to supporting roles like Zhang Dan Feng but in some way this could help boost their popularity if the drama become successful.
But I think beside Koreans, other countries like Thailand and Japanese have tried to break in the industry too.

Sigh… what else to convince the producers that Andy can lead a movie? He’s got substantial number of new followers after TJOF and has made it to various lists of recognizable actors.
Now speaking of the drama, I like his outfits there! (based on the posters above). Glad also that he’ll have his own OTP, rather than having to compete with the first lead :D.

Zhang Dan Feng. Why you no lead role yet? T___T
Because life’s a bitch and C-ent worships Kpop stars more than they care about their own people.
My only consolation is that at least Ji Chang Wook is a very likeable guy so yeah

And then there are some nationalistic Korean fans who get their panties in the bunch because a kpop forum includes articles on former Chinese EXO members who are doing well in China.

Feng ge!!!! OMG….he’s always handsome and cute! Hopefully he will get his lead role soon!
As much as l love Feng ge, and l also like Ji Chang-wook, l don’t think l will watch this though.
Big question though, l doubt Chang-wook speak in mandarin, so he will definitely get dubbed, isn’t it?

Yes. He will get dubbed, like many other Korean stars. If only he speaks Mandarin. Lol.
