Love Triangle brews in Li Yi Feng’s The Legend of Chusen

Or should I say fanwar? Oh well, since I can’t prevent the war, I’m rising above that topic for good. The ladies look great individually, but I do think Yang Zi has the edge over Li Ying in some photos since she’s styled very elegantly. In terms of OTP chemistry-wise, I see nothing from either couple. That’s not a good sign… Maybe it’s too early…and they are gonna release some passionate photos with flying sparks later, right? RIGHT?

I agree — and given that we are both huge ZLY fans, I think Yang Zi’s better styling must be even more obvious to the general viewer!

LY just comes across as a little…bumpkin-y, for the genre. By contrast, YZ looks fantastic. She also seems to have slimmed down considerably from her previous dramas…lost that chubby cheek baby look. I suppose she is very young, so perhaps she’s just growing into her maturity. I like that explanation better than the idea that she is not eating as much since her boyfriend relationship ended!

I wish LY had gotten a green version of YZ’s styling!

Right? Yang Zi looks very mature and yet still maintains that youthful look to her character. Her face has slimmed down quite a bit! But that’s okay, she’s young, those baby fat has got to leave. Lol.

I think it’s good that Liying’s styling is NOT like Yang Zi’s styling because their characters are totally different and YZ’s character is supposed to be more mature and aloof whereas Liying’s character is supposed to look cute and be lively. If they styled Liying anything like YZ then I would be very unhappy with the stylists. But so far the way they styled Liying makes her look more young and stuff so I think that fits more with the way it should be.

Oh that’s very interesting. I am not at all in tune with the story, so I’ll trust your word on the styling being intentional and fitting for the story.

If that’s the case, fine, I suppose I’ll have to take it. Though that also makes me a little sad for her that she has to do ANOTHER “young” “cute” and “lively” role. When is she going to be able to escape those?

Li Ying’s character in Zu isn’t cute and lively. 🙂 She’s dark, scheming, prideful, and cool. Most of the elders in there (from both good and evil sects) admire her straightforward attitude on first meeting. Meeting Ding Yi is her biggest tragedy (to me, lol). I can see why she likes him but their development in the beginning was weak and didn’t convince me of how hard she fell for him. She craves and latches onto every ounce of love that’s thrown towards her.

          Oh, that sad puppy.

LOL I read the book long time ago but that was the impression I had most about the 2 leading ladies of the novel.

I’m actually pretty cool with Liying playing the cute roles cuz she looks the part and will be more convincing … I think it’s really important to have the right look for a character on top of being able to portray the character well with acting skill.

Like if Yang Zi and Liying swapped characters then it’d be a definite no-no cuz regardless of acting ability, they just wouldn’t look the part.

I blame the stylists and costume designers or whoever is in charge!!!! I can understand adaptation but come on……at least try to stay true as much as you can. (SIGH) But to be honest, I find her pretty in all colours. I am very much looking forward to watching this. I don’t get to watch it much in Europe so anything is good for me so long as there’s ZLY in it.

I can’t stand LYF’s cockroach feelers rofl! Yang Zi and ZLY both look so pretty here, I like the pretty styling~ ZLY’s styling makes her look different, like a different nice aura!

Both ladies look great here. Gotta say I miss Yang Zi’s baby fat. She looks so adorable with it!

I saw some photos of Yang Zi when she was younger and I agree that she looked cuter when she was young. I always like people with more flesh on their faces cuz it’s just cuter, but I guess for this drama, looking more mature fits much more with her character. I heard that YZ deliberately slimmed down for this drama so I guess she thinks the same thing LOL

      • 20 thoughts on “Love Triangle brews in Li Yi Feng’s The Legend of Chusen

At least she didn’t slim down for Ode to Joy so we can look forward to that!

        • 20 thoughts on “Love Triangle brews in Li Yi Feng’s The Legend of Chusen

          True! 🙂

LOL I totally forgot about Ode to Joy … when’s that coming out?

Li Yifeng and the TFboys are so cute 🙂

LOL @ LYF’s antics on set. Seriously how old is this guy hahaha. But oh well the knee reflex thing is always fun to play around with 🙂

I haven’t seen much of Yang Zi but she seems to “get” the character quite well based on the stuff they released so far, so I’m really looking forward to seeing her Xueqi. I hope the script doesn’t screw up her character.

Liying’s styling looks great here so I think fans can all feel relieved. I saw some leaked photos and she’s got even more styles than the 4 character photos they officially released, so it’ll be nice to see when the finished product comes out

YZ is giving me a…Ni Man Tian from HQG vibe. But she’s good, right?

      • 20 thoughts on “Love Triangle brews in Li Yi Feng’s The Legend of Chusen

LOL don’t worry, Yang Zi’s character is an all around good girl! Nothing like Ni Mantian!

  6. 20 thoughts on “Love Triangle brews in Li Yi Feng’s The Legend of Chusen

As much as I like ZLY, I also like YZ more because of the stylings you pointed out. Also, she looks really ethereal. I’m surprised by her slim-down and I’m glad she lost her baby fats.

  7. 20 thoughts on “Love Triangle brews in Li Yi Feng’s The Legend of Chusen

Maybe I am just biased here, but ZLY’s face is smaller and her eyes are bigger in comparison so it’s prettier to me. Yang Zi does look better here, but her face is physically bigger than even Li Yi Feng… that’s a bit awkward for me LOL. On camera though, I think ZLY’s vibrant costumes will look visually appealing!

    • 20 thoughts on “Love Triangle brews in Li Yi Feng’s The Legend of Chusen

LOL I think it’s because both Liying and Li Yifeng have round faces while Yang Zi has a longer oval-ish face

It took me awhile but i just realised that it was yang zi from battle of changsha. She’s grown so much!
Looking forward to this drama. I love zhao yi ling in blue this colour suits her best.

Those two strand of hair are going to get annoying real quick when I watch this drama LOL They’re so distracting.
