Zhu Yi Long and Viann Zhang in drama adaptation of Bordertown Wanderer

Good for you Zhu Yi Long, taking on another project. Bordertown Wanderer is one of Gu Long‘s novels, sequel to The Little Li Flying Dagger and first part of the Flying Dagger trilogy. Remember Wallace Chung’s The Magic Blade? Yep, this is another remake of the same story. Why? I don’t know. While I’m happy for Yi Long, it’s his leading lady, Viann Zhang, that got my attention in the stills. She is stunning, a flawless skin tone, enhanced by beautiful tailored costumes. It’s hard to look away.

TVB has adapted the same story before and it’s called The Black Sabre, released in 1989, starring Paul Chun, Margie Tsang, Fiona Leung, and Eddie Cheung. Most of you guys weren’t even born yet right? Lol. Listen to the themesong below. I don’t remember watching this series but I betcha Kap’s mama be watching this series when she was pregnant with moi.

Fanmade mv.

Zhu Yi Long as Fu Hong Xue, the adopted son of the God of sabre, Yang Chang Feng. After the father was murdered by various martial artists, his wife gave away their son (Ye Kai) and took in Fu Hong Xue as her fake son to protect her real son from harm. The story follows Hong Xue as he investigates the truth of his dad’s death, just to find out the reality of who he is.

Vincent Chiao. The original Dagger Li Xun Huan, now playing a different role – owner of a tavern, Xiao Bie Li! Aww, I remember loving this drama because of A Fei (adorably portrayed by Jacky Wu). Check out the themesong below.

Carrie Wang. I like her overall look. But what’s up with the mountain hairstyles?

Not a big fan or the hairstyles……

It’s a mess on Yi Long’s head, as if they don’t know what to do with the stray strands. *shakes head*

I was going to comment on the mountain hairstyles too LOL. I can take it occasionally, but not when every character is sporting a version of it. = n =
Otherwise, it looks like a very pretty cdrama! I’m assuming it’s not following the Magic Blade completely since it seems like the female lead doesn’t have a love triangle with the male lead and her younger sister?
I’m not a fan of Viann’s apparent real life personality, but I think she’s a good actress. And I’ve been hoping to see Zhu Yi Long on my screen since his role with Yang Rong~~~ : D overall, I think I am excited! : D

I guess they changed the story a bit to keep it fresh (and we need changes for sure!)

I’ve heard of Viann’s catty attitude, from her past dating life to her kinda poking at Fan Bing Bing’s relationship with ex-BF, Jerry Li. And I gotta say, lady needs to be careful messing with the empress! =P

I am looking forward to this new adaption, I though the Wallace Chung version was a huge disappointment! It was no wear near the TVB version. Looking at Viann in these photos, makes her badass!

What do you think?
