Last episode we ended with Hyo Sun saying that she has been seeing Ki Hoon. So is it a lie? or an unexpected truth?
PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
– Nah, they aren’t dating. Hyo Sun says so hoping to get a reaction from her aloof sister, Eun Jo. On their way home together, Eun Jo pretends to sleep to avoid further questions from Hyo Sun. But the latter knows her sister’s tactic. Fed up, Hyo Sun stops the car and asks for a favor: Her credit card is on borderline and she hopes Eun Jo would say nice words for her in front of their father, you know like stop the dad from carrying out the whipping sticks from 8 years ago! Eun Jo refuses claiming that she does not want to clean up after her mess even when Hyo Sun confesses the stuff she bought isn’t just for herself, but for Mother and Eun Jo as well.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Hyo Sun: “What’s so great about you that you act all high and mighty? I have my reasons as well.” Eun Jo unbuckles her seat belt and gets out of the car. Hyo Sun demands her to stop but Eun Jo doesn’t, therefore, she has to reach out to hold her sister back. “Do you not listen to a person’s words?”

Eun Jo: “Let go and talk.”

Hyo Sun: “Uncle said Dad’s waiting at home, with the sticks ready! Are you going to let me get hit?”

Eun Jo: “What’s your dream? How are you going to live from now on? Do you even have plans for the future?”

Hyo Sun: “If I do, are you interested in them? Are you asking me because you’re curious? You’re NOT, right? All you want to do is act mighty and high, while stomping all over me! So you’re just attaching these words like a prologue right? Your prologues, when I hear them, I don’t think of anything but when I think of them later, the feeling you get is really dirty. Do you know that?…Ah, of course, you knew. It’s your intention after all.”

Eun Jo: “Do you want to continue ballet?”

Hyo Sun: “Then, should I be crazy and audition to every ballet even when I don’t want to continue it?”

Eun Jo: “Then why do you keep getting dropped? What haven’t you passed even one? Aren’t you supposed to get into at least one of the many you auditioned for?”

Hyo Sun: “Yah! Do you think there are hundred, thousands of ballet companies in our country?”

Eun Jo scoffs: “Do you even practice? Do you practice till you’re dead?”

Hyo Sun: “Of course!”

Eun Jo: “Then why are you feet so clean and pretty?”

This question zips Hyo Sun up. Eun Jo continues and informs her sister that she has no dreams, plans, or hopes for the future, right? Then she should just be a pitiful child who spends all their credit cards buying pretty stuff. Eun Jo would help her if she admits she has no thoughts. Hyo Sun asks, “Are you finished?” to which Eun Jo replies, “Don’t cry in front of me, it’s annoying.”

So there we have it, their sisterhood hasn’t improved one bit after 8 years! My gosh, these girls are stubborn. Hyo Sun’s lines and actions tell me she desperately wants Eun Jo to pay attention to her. Although, she dislikes Eun Jo’s air of superiority, she still insists to be acknowledged.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
– OMG! Father Dae Sung has a boy!! Congrats! Kang Sook gives birth to another child, he seems like a second Hyo Sun. haha XD In his study room, father whips Hyo Sun once before Kang Sook appears and waves Hyo Sun to get out. Kang Sook’s talent in acting is still complex after all these years.

Kang Sook: “Do you want to see me die? Seeing her bruised legs is unbearable, I would rather die! Why would you want to hit such a pretty kid?”

I think Kang Sook is showing her true colors little by little when she claims that Hyo Sun doesn’t obey the curfews and has more than 1 boyfriends! Whoa! To think that Hyo Sun is right outside the door eavesdropping! Kang Sook ends further discussion and possibly further whipping when she bravely confesses…

Kang Sook: “If you use that whipping stick again, I’ll believe that you don’t acknowledge me as Hyo Sun’s mother, pack my things and leave.”

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
– In her room, Eun Jo thinks about what Hyo Sun says earlier about meeting with Ki Hoon. She opens her drawer to find her escape bag that she was about to use 8 years ago. Standing in front of the balcony where Ki Hoon used to sing, tears escape her eyes. There father Dae Sung appears: *Flashback starts*

Dae Sung: “No wonder why I always have this feeling that you would run away and disappear. I knew that you and Ki Hoon have a special bond in this short period. And I knew that this house, including myself, were of no comfort to you…so when Ki Hoon left, I was worried about you.”

Eun Jo: “Please let me go…I want to leave.”

Dae Sung shakes his head. “I can’t do that.”

Eun Jo: “I’m going to leave. If you don’t let me go now, tomorrow when I walk to school, or in the morning, I will leave.”

Did anyone catch a similarity? She’s actually telling father WHEN she’s leaving! Just like when she tells Ki Hoon where she’ll be if she were to run away. Father has earned her trust. I’m really liking father more and more. Such a sweet man. 🙂

Dae Sung: “I know. When I can be sure that no matter where I leave you, I don’t have to worry about you, then I’ll let you go. I promise you. I’m a man who keeps his words. Do you not believe me when I say I worry about you? Do you also not believe that I’ll keep my promise? For the time being, I’ll become the reason why it’s good for you to remain here. Trust me.” When he senses that she agrees, he approaches her, takes the bag, and leads her into the house with his hand on her should while she continues to sob…

Did I tell you that I’m touched? His speech give me warmth and reassurance and I’m sure Eun Jo felt his sincerity too. *flashback ends*

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
At dinner, Eun Jo proposes a plan, she wants to recruits an able person, with marketing experience to help out. Father finds that a hard mission because no intelligent person would want to work in the countryside and tells her he doesn’t want to expand his wine business. On the side, Hyo Sun feels left-out because while father is engaged in business conversation with Eun Jo, mother is busy feeding their little brother, she is left with no one, almost invisible at the dinner table.

Eun Jo: “Then when are you going to use me? And where are you going to use me if you’re not planning on expanding your business? Did you send me to college to do labor work around here? You don’t need a degree to ferment wine.” Father appears happy to know her ambition and just smiles.

After dinner, Kang Sook comes to Hyo Sun’s room and you can see that she’s happy to see mother but the latter appears to be more interested in other things. Typical women….bags!! =P

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
– That night, Hyo Sun receives a call from her BF? (unsure) and sneaks outside to meet a desperate man. Eun Jo mistakenly thinks it’s Ki Hoon and quickly pedals to the train station. Sigh, after all these years, she is still holding onto Ki Hoon and their memories. After all he’s the first man to enter her heart and leave a mark – a painful one.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
– At the airport, we finally see Ki Hoon, a man in suit with a clean cut hairstyle. He arrives at his father’s place and how cruel, the father doesn’t even know how long he has sent his son away! Hmps! Poor Ki Hoon…The old man tells Ki Hoon that his hyung, Ki Jung, has been taking good care of everything, people under him and also under his as well. I seriously laughed at this scene, even when it seems inappropriate. haha XD Ki Hoon proceeds to give some paperwork that father requested. His dad doesn’t bother with the paper and whispers, “There’s a bigger problem than this…”

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
– Apparently, father has some plans for Ki Hoon because he looks angry in the bathroom, trying to cool himself with water.

Ki Hoon hesitates to call the family he’s grown to embrace – Father Dae Sung’s household. Eventually, he picks up the phone and tells the ajusshi that he’s the hopeless Ki Hoon. ;D

In front of the house, Eun Jo’s and Hyo Sun’s little brother, Junsu, is playing in the dirt. When his friend accidentally flicks some dirt into his fake glasses, he pushes the little boy and demands him to leave! Crying, his friend leaves but Junsu shouts “Come back! Come back! Let’s play!” Oh boy, what a spoiled brat!

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
– Then, our beastly gentle Jung Woo makes his appearance. THE BAT! THE BAT!! HEHE =D He has written on the baseball bat that Eun Jo is his woman forever, the bat that he throws away to save Eun Jo years ago! The bat! I think we have another gazing boy here. When his eyes land on Eun Jo, I can see and feel the longing in it – which surprises me considering it’s Taecyeon’s acting debut. Eun Jo takes the marketing team to the wine cellar and asks them to stay quiet in order to hear the wine’s breathing. Eun Jo’s eyes wander to the same pot where she first discovered wine’s breathing and I think she recalls the memory with Ki Hoon for she’s oblivious to the team’ questioning. Her father steps in.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
– On Hyo Sun’s side, we continue to see her vulnerability towards Eun Jo’s words. She’s auditioning to another ballet dance, however, she fails again with Eun Jo’s lines haunting her, “What’s your dream? How are you going to live in the future? Do you have any future plans/goals?

Depressed, Hyo Sun says to herself: “I can set a goal from now on. I can plan from now on!” and starts to bawl..

HOHO! Looks like Kang Sook is tired of her own pretentious act because when Hyo Sun hooks her arm, Kang Sook makes an uncomfortable face. What is worst then to play with a young girl’s heart Kang Sook? It has been eight years and you can’t like her genuinely? Do you love her dad then? I hope you do or I will put your name under my “Heartless Women” list. Do you guys think so?

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
– In the office, father and Eun Jo is speaking about the potential interviewee coming tomorrow. Father Dae Sung tells her of a candidate he has in mind yet he doesn’t reveal WHO?! Dun Dun DUN! Eun Jo reminds him of the promise eight years, if her plan succeeds this time, she will leave. 🙁 I don’t think she’s trying to make Dae Sun feel bad but her words are hurtful.

Eun Jo: “If I succeed, I will take it as covering up my debt up until now.”

Dae Sung: “How could you take it as debt?” He’s speechless.. “You..how could….debt?” She ends his stuttering by saying she’s leaving to the factory.

On her way to the factory, she bumps road with Jung Woo. When they can’t get passed….

Eun Jo: “You can go first.” Jung Woo drops the blocks of wood.

Jung Woo: “I’ve kept my promise. Don’t you remember me?” She turns to look at him.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
– At the same time, in their house, Hyo Sun is stunned at the person standing before her – Ki Hoon. She runs into his embrace.

Eun Jo: “I don’t recognize you. You must’ve mistaken me for someone else.” Jung Woo’s face falls but I think he shouldn’t. It’s hard (not impossible) to imagine a chubby kid from eight years ago to become this fit man eight years later.

Scratching his head, Jung Woo frustratingly says: “That girl…” and quickly follows her, “It’s me! Jung Woo!”

Eun Jo: “You must’ve mistaken me for someone else. The manager, you’re the newly hired employee right? By any chance, are you looking for Hyo Sun? She’s inside. I’ll tell her someone is looking for her.” WHOA! She doesn’t even remember his name? Granted.

Jung Woo: “It’s me Jung Woo, we lived in that house a long time ago…with Jang ajusshi, that house.” Eun Jo stops dead in her track. Jung Woo, oblivious to what caught her undivided attention, thinks she finally remember him.

Jung Woo: “You remember now right? I told you I would take care of you.” Eun Jo continues to stare…causing Jung Woo to do the same thing.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
– Coming toward them, Hyo Sun is linking arm with Ki Hoon, a man who disappears 8 years ago, without leaving a word for her. (well, he did, it just never got to her…) I thought I would die when the staring prolongs, mainly between Eun Jo and Ki Hoon.

Ki Hoon: “This is the face I know. Hyo Sun’s unnie, right? Do you remember me?” How could you just call Hyo Sun’s “UNNIE?” It’s such a cold way to address her…ughh….Ki Hoon!

When Eun Jo doesn’t respond, Hyo Sun wakes her up: “Unnie, you don’t remember Ki Hoon oppa?”

And finally Eun Jo: “Hello.”

Ki Hoon: “Yes…Hello.”

The next day, the two interviewees that Eun Jo have didn’t show up because they’ve been accepted to another company so the third (and last) interviewee makes his entrance – Ki Hoon. But before he does, our Jung Woo has something to check on.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Jung Woo: “Have you gone to the army yet?”

Ki Hoom: “Me?”

Jung Woo: “Is there anyone else here?”

Ki Hoon: “Yes, I’ve gone. Why?”

Jung Woo: “Where? Public Office?” HAHA Jung Woo is belittling Ki Hoon because he has such a small physique. =P

Ki Hoon: “I came out of the Navy.”

Jung Woo stutters, “What le-level?”

Ki Hoon: “921.”

Jung Woo drops his broomstick, salutes, “This is 1065, Han Jung Woo!”

Ki Hoon: “Rest.”

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
– Inside, Eun Jo is interviewing Ki Hoon and an awkward atmosphere ensues, even the father feels out of place! She acts as if she doesn’t know Ki Hoon! I love the father’s expression…haha hilarious! Hehe sneaky Eun Jo, through the interview, she finally knows WHERE the heck he was in the last eight years. Nice…The last glance he throws at Eun Jo screams, “I wish I have the chance to visit you.”

Outside at a different riverbank, Hyo Sun calls the ballet’s company and it looks like she didn’t make it…Ki Hoon guesses right and comforts her saying that as she keeps trying, one day she’ll make it, and if not, there are so many other fun things to do in this world. His words cheer Hyo Sun up.

Hyo Sun: “I have no dreams, no plans, can someone like me live happily?”

Ki Hoon: “As you live, dreams and plans will start to come – that order, life is not always like that.”

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
– She places her head on his shoulder and whispers, “My oppa, why did you come now? You jerk…” Driving across the road, is Eun Jo, who happens to see everything

In the office the next day, Ki Hoon presents his plan. Mid-way through, Eun Jo interrupts and asks how much does promotion cost for advertisement on tv and poster. When he has a number, present the project again. She leaves to take pictures of Hyo Sun promoting their wine.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Hyo Sun: “Tasty! Unnie, do you want to drink some with me? What are you doing?”

Eun Jo: “You’re very pretty.”

Hyo Sun is speechless, Eun Jo compliments her! “Huh? huh? What did you say?” Awww you can see her eyes soften…! Not believing what she heard, she skips down and stops Eun Jo. “What did you just say? Say that again?”

Eun Jo: “What?”

Hyo Sun: “You said I’m pretty right? Unnie, you said it with your own lips, didn’t you?” I think it would’ve been better if Hyo Sun just let it be, take the compliment and be happy. She should know by now that Eun Jo doesn’t like to repeat. On the other hand, Eun Jo has no idea the impact of her words have on Hyo Sun…

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
– Later at work, Ki Hoon gives her a list of advertising agency. Without giving it another look, she tells him to do it again. Oh the bitterness in her words! She continues to give him a list of jobs…hoho!

Ki Hoon: “You…don’t have anything ELSE to say?” What do you want her to say Ki Hoon ah?

Eun Jo: “No, please go out.”

Ki Hoon: “Do you really have nothing to say?” Eun stares at him coldly. “So you don’t. I’ll go out now.”

Hyo Sun’s uncle takes Jung Woo on a trip with him. Half way there, he tells the boy to get out and wait for him. If someone lurks around, call him immediately. I hope the uncle isn’t doing something harmful here and plans on using Jung Woo as his escape goat or witness.

Father Dae Sung has finally decided to put Hyo Sun under Eun Jo’s eyes – telling her tow work at their wine factory? (unsure)

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
– OMG! I can’t believe she still keeps in contact with Jang Ajusshi! And it looks like the man is still the drunkard from eight years ago. *shakes head* He suggests that they get together to which Kang Sook replies by splashing beer in his face….

Kang Sook: “Who are you to say those words without taking your position (status) into consideration? I play with you not because I like you… I’ve told 100…no, 1000 times already, it’s the restless feelings that if I don’t satisfy them at least once a month, I think I will suffocate to death..”

Kang Sook gets home and to her surprise, Dae Sung is standing outside waiting, not for her this time but Hyo Sun. She is drunk from drinking and he has sent Ki Hoon and Eun Jo to pick her up.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
– Did you see that, Eun Jo covers Hyo Sun with a blanket! Why don’t you do it when she’s awake!

Waiting for her outside, is Ki Hoon.

Ki Hoon: “You really don’t have anything to say to me?”

Fed up with her silence, he drags her outside.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Ki Hoon: “To me, you don’t have anything to say? You bad girl…”

Eun Jo: “I don’t understand anything you’re saying.”

Ki Hoon: “You bad girl…You pretend to not know me?”

Eun Jo: “Do I have to act like I know you?”

Ki Hoon: “Do you know how much I-”

Eun Jo: “Shut your mouth.”

Ki Hoon: “What?”

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Eun Jo: “Crazy bastard. What is Hyo Sun, what am I to you? I didn’t know you were a bastard, but you’re a bastard. What is this?”

Ki Hoon: “No…”

Eun Jo: “No?”

Ki Hoon: “It isn’t Hyo Sun… No…That’s not the truth.”

Eun Jo: “Does Hyo Sun know it’s not the truth?”

Ki Hoon: “I said it’s not! I’m telling you it’s not.”

Eun Jo: “You, who do you think you are? You are fired. Do not step into this house anymore!” She turns to leave.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Ki Hoon: “Hey….hey….Eun Jo-ah…Eun Jo-ah…Eun Jo-ah……..Eun Jo-ah…”

As he calls her name, his eyes sparkle with tears…
As she hears her name, tears gather and stream down her cheeks…

– Can they stop torturing each other (and us?). I’m glad Eun Jo didn’t lose her spunk from eight years ago, but sometimes, if only she would just listen, things would’ve been smoother and perhaps we could see a happy Eun Jo and not someone who is like a porcupine, always ready to spike up those quills. That is not to say she’s not vulnerable to pain, in fact, she’s like wine fermenting those hurt, but unlike wine, that tastes better as days go by, she will explode and break down. I don’t know how many broken pieces there would be but I hope someone could stop the explosion, if not, pick up and reassemble her pieces.

Hyo Sun is another very lonely character as she struggles to find her identity, the meaning to her existence. Eun Jo’s questions wake the girl up to reality – but with Ki Hoon’s return, will she just cling to him like before? I cannot wait to watch episode 6 and see what Ki Hoon is up to!

Then we have a very naive character being thrown into this delicious mix – Jung Woo. As of right now, his character hasn’t shown any motive yet, heck I don’t even think he has any except for taking care of Eun Jo.
