You left me…
Continuing from last episode, Hyo Sun has her first screaming moment insulting Eun Jo with words like ‘beggar’, ‘ugly’ and demanding her to get out of “their” house. Harsh words from someone who doesn’t know she’s capable of using condescending terms. O_O

I like how Eun Jo handles her little sister’s momentary tantrum replying right back with confidence, “You, get out. Although, I don’t want to be here, I’m not going to leave because you tell me to. I’ll leave when I’m tired of this place.” Hyo Sun is tongue-tied against Eun Jo here as she could only voice “You, really..!!”

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
– Eun Jo then leaves the house with Hyo Sun following right behind, both pass by Ki Hoon with a glare. XD Inside their room, Ki Hoon finds the letter and mumbles, “Little rascals, instead of studying, they are doing this? And this handwriting…??”

The next part is SOOO FUNNY!! Being arm-length away from Eun Jo’s head, Hyo Sun reaches out and grab her hair. They both proceed into a girly fight!! HAHA! And the guy basically sits there, being freaked out. After a minute or two, Hyo Sun pushes Eun Jo, and she gets a glimpse of her sister’s busted lip and mouths, “Unnie! You’re bleeding!” accompanies with a shocked expression. I can’t tell you how many times I rewatched this scene. Realization should’ve hit Hyo Sun that she’s someone capable of inflicting harm on others, and not always the nice “little dongseng” in everyone’s eyes. A soft glint is seen in Eun Jo’s eyes as well. Although roughly, she quickly shoves Hyo Sun out of the way.

– Hyo Sun returns home and sobs in Kang Sook’s arms, when her father learns of their fight, he demands the spanking whips! HOHO! Father Dae Sung whipping his daughters? O_O Of course not, it’s only the front exterior, he whips Hyo Sun once, and when she accepts her wrongdoing, she is spared. Eun Jo, on the other hand, does not bow down to violence and refuses to admit she was wrong. Father Dae Sung hesitatingly continues to whip her. THANKS god Ki Hoon steps in and drags Eun Jo away or else father won’t have an excuse to stop. He was waiting for that…

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
– As Ki Hoon applies thin slice of meat on her wound, he warns her gently:

Ki Hoon: “Don’t get hit. Even if you’re to be hit, just run. You’re the escape Master, after all. If you are stubborn one more time, you’re really going to die…” in my hands!

When she doesn’t reply, he urges:

Ki Hoon: “Eun Jo, are you not going to reply?”

He tries again…

Ki Hoon: “Eun Jo ah…”

Eun Jo: “Hmmm?”

Ki Hoon: “It hurt, doesn’t it?”

Eun Jo: “Yeah…” And he smiles finally getting a response from the stubborn girl. 🙂

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
– Then the two are engulfed in their own bubble world (aww). The writer is trying to incorporate the magical aspect of Cinderella’s huh? Is there going to be a fairy godmother too?

Eun Jo: *in her head* “My wound doesn’t hurt. Although there’s blood, it doesn’t hurt at all. Why? I’m not sure of that myself. My heart just floats to the sky, it might even reach the moon.”

I can think of two reasons why it doesn’t hurt. One, she was hit not because someone wants to harm/abuse her, but the man hits her out of concern. Two, our smiley Ki Hoon touches her inner layer again with his heart-warming lecture. That night, father goes to the girls’ room and applies medication on Eun Jo’s wound.

The next morning, Hyo Sun’s uncle complains about having to bring Eun Jo’s mother to the temple, and asks Ki Hoon to do it. Just before he continues, we can here someone coughs outside.

It’s Eun Jo, coming to claim her man! Her first line startles me, as if she’s saying “You’re mine!”

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
– Completely ignoring his questions, she asks, “Who is that woman at the riverbank yesterday?”

Ki Hoon: “What?”

Eun Jo: “It annoys me to keep asking, so stop saying ‘what’ to my question.”

A break here: Have anyone noticed how Koreans converse in dramas? Although they hear the question/news, they like to repeatedly ask “WHAT?” as if to make an impact of shock or something.

Eun Jo, in an annoying tone: “Who was that woman at the riverbank that you were fooling around with?”

And Ki Hoon just smiles! What the heck! That satisfying smile! *spazzes*

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Eun Jo: “What is it? What do you find so funny?”

Ki Hoon: “Is this why you came to me early in the morning? To ask that? Were you so curious that it kept you up all night?”

HAHA! Eun Jo is caught! =P And just because I think pictures do not justify how cute this scene is:

Ki Hoon continues his smiling craze (that kills me and I’m sure many others out there) until Eun Jo glares at him. He stops by zipping his mouth in the MOST ADORABLE way ever!! Ahh! Tell me how did Geun Young do it? Keeping her straight face?

Then she enters their study room and Ki Hoon goes on about his love for violinists. Eun Jo, on the other hand, doesn’t even try to look interested. She persists her question: who that woman was… ;D

Ki Hoon: “What do you mean? It’s just my friend’s sister who came to drop off my records. Why?”

Nonchalantly (yea right!), she replies, “Okay then…” and leaves the room.

Thinking it is the right time, Ki Hoon shouts after her: “And you, are you really going to date that Dong Su guy?” (Aren’t they the cutest couple? XD)

After their mother leaves to the temple, the family of three – the father (Dae Sung), Eun Jo and Hyo Sun gather around to have breakfast.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Hyo Sun: “Unnie, I’m Sorry, I was wrong…”

When Eun Jo doesn’t reply, she tickles her knee under the table. They have to show a loving relationship if Eun Jo wants to move in her own room.

Eun Jo: “No, it’s my fault, I’m sorry.”

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
– While Ki Hoon is studying Spanish in his room, a visitor – his brother Ki Tae comes. The guy’s one-sided hair annoys me. Gosh. It looks like he wants to run the Parks’ Company but I’m sorry to say, boy, you aren’t cut out to do so. Rid of the hair and attitude first, and maybe. Just maybe.

Late that night, Kang Sook (Eun Jo’s mother) comes home late to find Dae Sung (Hyo Sun’s father) waiting for her at the door. He knows she didn’t go to the temple and asks her. She denies at first but after seeing his all-knowing face, she plans another lie – this time using the excuse to find Eun Jo’s medicine for her swollen legs. Got the man good.

Ki Hoon is brought to his Stepmother’s place, being forced to give up his stocks but he has no intention of being threatened to do so. The stepmother is really something eh? She simply sits there and claws her sofa to transport her commands.

However, Ki Hoon walks away safely and grudgingly challenges, “Do you have the confidence to kill me?”

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
– This scene is emotionally engaging. The thing that I embrace most about this couple is their intense chemistry. Without conversation, Chun Jung Myung and Moon Geun Young manage to bring out the fire, the longing, and the needs.

The next day both Hyo Sun and Eun Jo are competing to show off their skill in ballet and math, respectively. The former fails but she is cheered up by the whole family while Eun Jo only wants praise from one person – Ki Hoon.

Eun Jo arrives home and motions Ki Hoon with a gesture. CUTE!

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
– In their secret wine cellar:

Ki Hoon: “This is the motion to come here?” (referring to her gesture earlier)

She cuts him off by shoving the award in his hands. He opens and sees the certificate.

Ki Hoon: *happily* “Good job! You really did a good job! HA! Eun Jo ah, you really did a good job! Aigoo, you talented girl…” He playfully ruffles her hair and surprisingly she didn’t put up a fight. Who would?! After a second or two, she takes back her certificate and walks out. Ki Hoon follows. Did I see a small smirk on her glowing face? 😉

Ki Hoon: “I’ll give you a present. Follow me!”

He bestows to her his precious pen and requests her to write letters and diaries in the future using it.

Ki Hoon: “Whenever you hold it, think of me.” Awwwww!

Eun Jo gets up to leave, and at the door, is Hyo Sun.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Hyo Sun: “How could you do that? Why didn’t you give me anything? I went into a competition too but you only gave it to her? Did you forget oppa? Did you forget who you belong to?”

She finishes her lines and turns away. That night, Eun Jo uses the pen to write, “Eun Jo yah”.

Next morning, Eun Jo comes out of her room and sees Father Dae Sung watering the plant. She hesitates but tells him that one of the wine pot isn’t fermenting. He asks how she know and she answers, “It doesn’t make any sound.” This surprises Father Dae Sung. Just when they finish, Hyo Sun announces her return – sadly.

Father Dae Sung: “Did Ki Hoon go safely?”
Hyo Sun: “Yes, he went safely.”

Eun Jo is confused and returns to their room to clarify.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Eun Jo: “What does that mean?”
Hyo Sun: “What does what mean?”
Eun Jo: “Where did he go?”
Hyo Sun: “Who?”
Eun Jo yells: “You said he left!”
Hyo Sun screams back: “So who do you mean?!”

Just when I thought they are going to engage in another catfight, father comes in, Hyo Sun takens notice and slowly adds…

Hyo Sun: “Unnie, I love you…” Eun Jo scoffs. “He went to the army…”

Eun Jo searches the house for any hint of Ki Hoon’s presence, while deep in thought.

Eun Jo: “I’ve never called him by any name. I never talked about him to anyone so I don’t know what to call him…that person is that person. Who else can that person become but himself? Does this make sense? DOES THIS MAKE SENSE?”

At home, Hyo Sun brings out the letter Ki Hoon asks her to give to Eun Jo. And like always, the main girl never gets it. The letter is written in Spanish. Outside, Eun Jo frantically looks for Ki Hoon at the camp? or some army place.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

At the train station…

Ki Hoon: *to himself* “Me, would you hold me back? Even as blood flowed from your knee, in all things, you foolish, Hong Ki Hoon – like Eun Jo…If you can catch me, I think I can stop. Before I step on the train, please catch me…Eun Jo ah…

Failing to find him, Eun Jo walks soullessly to the river side and let her heart cry out.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Eun Jo: “That person, I have never called him by any name so a cuckoo bird goes ‘Cuckoo cuckoo’. A bird calls out ‘daogo…daogo’ (don’t remember the exact translation, pardon me)…Eun Jo ahh…Like a bird, when I called out my name, Eun Jo ahh, I cried…

We also get a glimpse of the lost hairpin too, it is still there. Perhaps, our Eun Jo uses it to tie up her hair afterward? And can I congratulate Moon Geun Young? The river scene had me crying with her. All the pain, disappointment and maybe slight anger are released and felt. It was filmed and executed subtly and effectively. Remember how I said in my previous post that Ki Hoon’s departure could make Eun Jo further isolates herself from love/men in general? Will that come true? Or will Ki Hoon challenge and win her cold heart again 8 years later?

One who wants to escape yet reveals to one man where she’s heading. And one who is forced to leave yet still wants her to hold him back….oh tragic!

Ep. 5 is tomorrow! Gahh the pain! And yea, they cut her beautiful flowing hair… 🙁 I’m a little sad but the short hair does give Eun Jo a more mature image, more feminine too. Hyo Sun looks beautiful too with the slight wavy hair. Props to the females. How about the males? Looks like our chubby Jung Woo is a grown up hottie next episode. ;D

One gif I just had to make for Jung Woo’s fans (me! He’s so resourceful):
