Chen Kun returns to dramaland after nine years with Spy drama

Chen Kun left the small screen for nine whopping years?! That seems to be the route most actors of the 90s and 2000s took on after they made a name for themselves. Who would want to return to the long shooting and hectic schedule of tv filming? Anyway, he is now back with original spy drama, The Escapee (脱身者), whose script is said to have been polished for a number of years. They expect a rise in TV series quality with the return of Chen Kun. Lol? What kind of expectation is that to place on an actor?! His rumored leading lady is Li Xiao Ran (Sparrow) and he has worked with her before. I’m hoping for a new pairing! Just don’t place him next to someone 20 years younger (he’s 40?!!). Lol.

Zhou Xun to headline Ru Yi’s Royal Love In The Palace

Following Empresses In the Palace and The Legend of Mi Yue, the same team is back with another epic harem story of 2016. Adapted from the novels (6!) Harem: Zhen Huan Chuan written by female writer Liu Lian Zi, Ru Yi’s Royal Love In The Palace plans to have ~80 whopping episodes. The story revolves around the reign of Qian Long Emperor, focusing on the harem battles between his empresses and consorts. What I know of Qian Long is what was told in Huan Zhu Ge Ge 1 and 2, mostly. Lol. Li Bing Bing’s name is out and the main character, Ru Yi, is played by Zhou Xun.

Let the casting begin! 😀

Press conference for the cast of A Journey through Time with Anthony

Another star-turned-producer and this time it’s Zhou Xun (Painted Skin, Red Sorghum). It’s based on a novel of the same name, A Journey through Time with Anthony, written in the form of a diary by Anthony as he detailed his life during the ages of 20-23 as a newly graduate being shipped to study overseas, where he gains perception of life and grows as a person. The titular role is handed to top model, Liu Chang, as his movie debut and his leading lady is a face frequently seen in theaters this past few weeks – Bai Bai He (Monster Hunt).

Does the premise remind some of you of a Japanese movie?

Feng Shao Feng & Zhou Xun grace the pages of BAZAAR Magazine

Photobucket

More pretty! Feng Shao Feng and Zhou Xun, both stars from the upcoming film Painted Skin 2, appeared separately for Harper’s Bazaar Magazine this month. I combine the two shoots together since it makes more sense this way! But! The tone of each set is completely different – while Shao Feng showcases his deep, pensive eyes, Zhou Xun is feminine and charismatic.

The other big names of the film include original cast – Chen Kun and Zhao Wei, with Yang Mi (aw) as the other additional star. Produced by Huayi Brothers and directed by Wuershan, the sequel is looking to premiere this summer.

I didn’t even watch Part 1 so….no comments there.
