So many news these past few days…

After what felt like a decade, my boy Yang Yang has returned to the Ancient Drama genre, and this time, it’s an adaptation of a web novel/donghua, of the same name, more or less. I’ve heard the source material was epic, but who knows. I’m here to review this adaptation only.
So, The Immortal Ascension, I’m 19 episodes in so far as of this review. The last time I wrote one of these review, it was for a dumb drama that I hated as much as the hate I got for hating it. But let’s not go there. How is Immortal Ascension so far? Well, in short, it’s good, so far. I’m enjoying it. Enough to write an early impression.

The Immortal Ascension (凡人修仙传) is adapted from the novel written by Wang Yu. It follows the story of an ordinary boy who goes on a dangerous road of cultivation to become an immortal. After seeing the trailers, I had this familiar feeling in terms of directing and checked out the director. Sure enough, it’s Yang Yang, the female director in charge of Ever Night, and was also in charge of some beautifully done dramas; Imperfect Victim, A Dream of Splendor, etc.
Airing 7/27~

Filming wrapped up on 4/12~
Tang Gong Qi An Zhi Qing Wu Feng Ming (唐宫奇案之青雾风鸣) is adapted from the novel written by Sen Lin Lu. It follows our leads as they work together to solve multiple palace mysteries.
ZZ finally got his Ning Er in here. Lol. Sometimes I think this is a fashion drama because Bai Lu looks so good in all of her costumes. The high-ponytail look is definitely hers to own!

For an ancient drama, this is the most English title ever, lol.
Les Belles (怎敌她千娇百媚) is adapted from the novel written by Yi Ren Kui Kui.
Per Wetv: Luo Lingyu, a fallen noblewoman, travels to Jianye with her sister to seek refuge. On the way, she rescues a destitute man but later forces him to jump overboard due to societal norms. Unaware that the Lu family’s third young master is the man she pushed into the water, she tries to win his favor—only to be repeatedly thwarted. He watches her struggle, exposing her every move, yet when she turns to someone else, he refuses to let her go!
Airing 2/13~
