Couple of Mirrors (双镜) follows the lives of our colorful dual female leads in Zhang Nan and Sun Yi Han. Not much to say about the synopsis cause I think one line is enough to grab your attention: The unlikely friendship emerges between a famous author with a cheating husband and a cold-blooded assassin posing as a photographer and how they stand by each other side facing the incoming storms.
It’s about time us ladies have interesting characters/backgrounds!
Used to be called Palace Step by Step to Fade, palace drama Love Story of Court Enemies (那江烟花那江雨) is set during the Qing dynasty featuring Zhao Yi Qin and Wu Jia Yi. Filming was completed two years ago. It follows two sisters who were separated during a rebellion and after their whole family was killed. To find the culprits behind the family’s tragedy, our heroine follows her sister into the palace after finding out she was drafted to become a royal consort. She begins her training as a chef, even impressing the Emperor, and later on picking up medical skills which was helpful during the widespread illness. During her journey, she’s aided by a handsome, loyal General in our male lead.
Yumama is back and this time, he decided to go historical comedy drama. Song of Youth (玉楼春) is a female-centric drama led by Bai Lu, alongside with Jin Chen, Zheng Qiu Hong, Huang Xin Yao, and special guest appearances in Yang Rong, Qiao Xin, and more to be announced. The story takes place during the Ming Dynasty and Bai Lu plays a miss from an official family. Her father is accused of corruption and she becomes a fallen miss after he’s executed. To make a living, she begins learning drama at a local street performance house (?), where she meets a rich grandson played by Wang Yi Zhe. He, of course, falls in love at first sight with her. And to clear her dad’s name, she disguises as a male to take the imperial test (?) But because she’s a female, she naturally fails the section where they examine your body…. But no worries, her rich admirer sneaks in to help and clear her father’s name. Once his family gets a wind of her identity/status, they try to break up the two. He doesn’t give up while she works hard on improving herself, and within a year, is able to become the top female merchant in the country. She then decides to marry into Wang Yi Zhe’s family when they are struggling. She helps stabilize the family and business, only to find out that her father-in-law is the man behind her dad’s demise and he is the one deep in corruption. Clear-headed and fair, our heroine chooses justice in the end. What do they called that? 大義滅親!
And that’s it. The synopsis reveals the whole drama. xD
Yumama never let a trendy topic to slip by without dipping his toes! Winter Begonia (鬓边不是海棠红) is adapted from the novel written by Shui Ru Tian Er about the love story between a patriotic businessman and a talented opera performer, but in the drama version, they are close friends. Huang Xiao Ming plays the savvy businessman and Yin Zheng plays the opera performer, with Charmaine Sheh in the role of Ming’s wife. With the Japanese invasion in 1937, people from various arts and backgrounds gather together to protect the country and preserve the growing of arts.
I like how they keep releasing promos without a date. xD

Untouchable Lovers (凤囚凰) is the drama adaptation of the novel Feng Qiu Huang written by Tian Yi You Feng, starring two young faces – Song Wei Long (Long for You) and Guan Xiao Tong (Love of Aurora). Because Yumama had a hand in this project, I’m not sure how novel fans will find the new rewritten story. Lol.
