Zhao Li Ying’s Updates: 30th Birthday, Swordsman Game Promo, Cosmo, Ming Lan BTS

Sorry, this post is a bit delayed, a little incidence happened and my presence was needed elsewhere after work. In any case, our girl turns the big 30 today! I’m sure she’s feeling the pressure from friends and families to find the special person and settle down but I do want her to know that she should go at her own pace. Some folks hurry into commitments and not take the time to explore and find happiness within themselves. You gotta love yourself first, before loving and allowing love to come into your life!

Happy Birthday Li Ying! ❤ ❤ ❤

Zhao Li Ying’s first character poster for The Story of Ming Lan

There we go. She wrapped up Ding Mo’s Our Glamorous Times aka You and Me In Time and dived right into The Story of Ming Lan shortly after. I dislike when there’s no break in between projects! For me it’s just a healthy practice to have a relief period to remove remnants of previous (acting) lives. Lol. So dramatic, Kap. Okie, okie. Of the three leads, she’s the last to join. I’m not in love with her character style yet since it’s only a simple poster but I’m so glad she isn’t stuck with straight, blunt bangs because those bangs on Sun Li in Nothing Gold Can Stay drove me batty. XD In happier news, remember Yan Xun’s bodyguard in Princess Agents (actor Wang Zi Jie)? He’s listed for a role in here as well. Fans think he might play her little brother. If you’re wondering: he, along with Jin Han, is under ZLY studio, hence the promotion in dramas and CF. 😉

Zhao Li Ying’s period drama The Story of Ming Lan begins filming

Grandma looks so happy! ^_^

And here we go! Zhao Li Ying‘s upcoming period drama has an official English name: The Story of Ming Lan (庶女明兰传), based on the novel written by Guan Xin Ze Luan. It kicks off filming today but the three main leads, Li Ying, Feng Shao Feng, and Zhu Yi Long were not there, all busy completing their other dramas is my guess, heh. The story follows our heroine through her youth, into her adulthood, and well into her marriage life as well. She’s the 6th child of the Sheng household. Though she is an intelligent and beautiful child, she was not loved by her family (her dad, her sisters, her mom dies early.) She has to hide her intelligence and suffers through the years, hoping to avenge for her mom. During this process she will meet many friends and foes, one of which is our male lead, Gu’s second son, Gu Ting Ye. He has helped and mistreated her before, but also the one to witness her sharp wits and lonely soul. After they get married, they will work together as a power couple, managing the new King’s regime as well as harvesting a world of happiness on their own.

To be honest, I’m a little anxious about this drama…. mainly because her story sounds like a slow-burn type of drama; would it be engaging throughout 70 episodes? It is produced by Hou Hong Liang, the man behind many acclaimed series such as Nirvana in Fire, Ode To Joy, Disguiser, etc so I’m less ill about the whole thing. I think PA burned me really well ~ Instead of excited about Li Ying’s drama, I’m drowning in sorrow. LOL.

Drama The Legend of the Concubine’s Daughter Ming Lan reveals supporting cast; Zhu Yi Long, Cao Cui Fen

Well, well, well! We finally have the supporting cast list for Zhao Li Ying‘s next period drama, The Legend of the Concubine’s Daughter Ming Lan (庶女明兰传) written by Guan Xin Ze Luan, which previously confirmed Li Ying and Feng Shao Feng as the main leads. We only have one more month before the production kicks off somewhere in September and Li Ying will hopefully have finished up Our Glamorous Time by then. I haven’t started this novel….not sure whether starting it is a good idea. Lol.

Feng Shao Feng confirmed for The Legend of the Concubine’s Daughter Ming Lan

If I have to be completely honestly, I’m not that thrilled with this news. Lol. There was a phase in my life where Feng Shao Feng made me swoon but that phase has long been gone. Maybe this drama will reel me back with his hotness? He’s confirmed to be Zhao Li Ying‘s leading man in The Legend of the Concubine’s Daughter Ming Lan (庶女明兰传) written by Guan Xin Ze Luan, contrary to all the rumored actors.

This made me think back to Li Ying’s interview with Sina where she’s asked to describe the three latest actors she works with. Lin Geng Xin is a husky, Kris Wu is an angry bird, and Feng Shao Feng is a white horse….because he’s the Prince on a white horse, the reason being he’s the Monk in the Monkey King 3, and now the prince in her new series. Well, well, well.

Zhao Li Ying confirms new drama The Legend of the Concubine’s Daughter Ming Lan

YAY! Finally a locked down for a new drama project. It’s adapted from the novel Do You Know? It Ought To Be a Red Flower Amongst The Leaves (知否知否应是绿肥红瘦) or aka The Legend of the Concubine’s Daughter Ming Lan (庶女明兰传) written by Guan Xin Ze Luan. The team behind the production is a strong one and the heroine is quite the leader in her own right as well. The story follows our heroine through her youth, into her adulthood, and well into her marriage life as well. She’s the 6th child of the Sheng household. Though she is an intelligent and beautiful child, she was not loved by her family (her dad, her sisters, her mom dies early.) After they get married, they will work together as a power couple, managing the new King’s regime as well as harvesting a world of happiness on their own. This is what they have released today about the synopsis.

I haven’t read the novel so for book readers who have, please let me know if it’s good! Now I’m gonna bite my nails for the male lead…. Ma Tian Yu, why you so busy?!
