Republican spy drama The Rebel (叛逆者) with Zhu Yi Long and Tong Yao is based on the novel of the same name written by Bi Yu, following our hero’s journey from a young student into a man who makes many contributions to the Communist Party. I don’t get excited for republican dramas these days….. I just wish ZYL and team the best because they did poured hard work into this project and while this drama may not be my cup of tea, it will be up many others’ alley!
